30-something years ago, there was a similar bodysurfing hand-board - I think it was called The Wedge. I had one. Used it often at Sandy Beach and North Shore, Hawaii ...a few times in Southern California at the Newport Wedge. It does help to lift your chest so you can glide down the wave faster, make a better bottom turn and then repeat. The only real drawback I noticed was in punching out the bottom of a big wave as it closed out. Using just your hand, it’s easy to sort of slice through the bottom of a barrel and dive/kick out the back of a breaking wave. The hand-board made that less easy as it presents a buoyant mass with some resistance to that maneuver. Once in a while, instead of punching out the back of a wave, the body-board resisted submersion. I’d get sucked up the inside face of a large barrel, pitched over the falls backwards and then drilled by the breaking lip of the wave. Still, it was an awesome tool which allowed faster and longer rides on big waves. Cheers..
Thanks Rikki. My wife purchased one of your handboards for me for Christmas and it is awesome. Beautifully crafted and it allows me to cut through any wave at all. It also gives you great control and direction. I was recently up in Bateau Bay and some Brazilian guys asked what I was using. I gave them a go and they were stoked.
sean kolednik thanks Sean! I'd love for you to copy that review into our Google review. It's greatly Appreciated 🤙 use this link. g.co/kgs/xpnU1p Thank you!
I’ve never tried surfing, but bodysurfing is my thing. No mess, no fuss. And being more free without a surfboard, it’s easier to catch more waves than surfers.
I ❤ getting Tubed w/ all the negative ions showering over me. Brenneckes was the best wave pre-hurricane Iwa. Also had an artist friend Tommy craft a hand board named HandJive for me but was cockroached @ Ehukai N Shore when I was going to a U2 concert. Good memories n good Vibes
@@botxai1341 depends on what break and the bottom of the ocean, sand vs reef. 3-4 ft is basically the same thing in hawaii. It's about head high, and waves get way bigger than this.

Made my own hand gun and used my friends dads as a template. Gives you slot more power to get into waves. Love bodysurfing!!!

Come try that at Sandi’s or Big Beach, haha!
I used and made my own hand board's back home in Hawaii.
I agree with him that it’s easier but with a surfboard practice makes perfect bro, like after a while you don’t even notice it
Surfboards hold you down ????
No
reupload this in 4K
Yo
bodysurfing and handboarding are not the same. there's an advantage of wearing a handboard. Please do NOT call it bodysurfing. it's handboarding
No disrespect to these guys, but hand planes have not revolutionised the sport. They're always been part of it. They've been around for decades.
Those waves are not that big.
big for bodysurfing
Naw, those waves are small even for body surfing. It's a 3ft wave, hawaiian style max. It gets way bigger.
@@granta3044 it’s not 3ft Hawaiian it’s 4 on the biggest
