This looks really awesome Kirsty! You are doing really well with watercolor to be still learning. Thank you for also mentioning the rules thing. I hate when people try to put rules on how to do art. I use white gouache all the time in my mixed media work. Art is about enjoying the process, and expressing yourself. The two water jar thing is a must for painting in general I think. I use two jars with my acrylics, gouache, and water color. It is just so nice to keep things from getting muddy. Also a spray bottle can be useful with watercolor too. I think one of my biggest struggles with watercolor is trying to get the exact color I want with a very limited palette. I just have a small 12 color set of watercolors, one being white so it is hard for me to get the colors I want. I just haven't wanted to invest into a larger set and then not like them at all. The other is that I can get a little impatient and either go too dark too fast or think things are dry when they aren't dry enough lol.
Thankyou :) Exactly! For me, as long as it's lightfast and archival then I'll do what I want haha I have a large-ish set of watercolour but I still get impatient when I have to mix colours as well! You can speed up the drying process with a hair dryer if you like :) I also tend to try and get my painting done in a couple of layers, probably going too dark too quick, and I'm not entirely sure why I do that because I do many layers on my pastel and coloured pencil pieces as well so it's not a new concept for me! I work in oils and acrylics too but I've never posted a tutorial for them because I know that I'm not confident enough to teach others yet when I have to force myself to do the painting properly rather than trying to speed up the process unnecessarily because I'm too impatient to mix colours haha
I use mostly www.theartshop.com.au (an Australian store) but I also use www.jacksonsart.com/ which is a UK store that ship worldwide (their prices are sometimes better than Australian stores - even with shipping)
DO you have any tips that I might find helpful? Or other artists' might find helpful? Leave a comment below :)

Iron doesn't work with my arches 😅 but the first method is very good. But it's better Soto stay the picture nearly up to a week below the heavy things
Ohhh I won't use the iron method on my artwork then!
That's a good idea to keep it on there longer, I might have to try it! 😊
