I don’t know if I should say this or not ? ALWAYS before you use any machines to help you dig KNOW where ALL of your utility lines are ! My husband worked for a natural gas company and when you dig it’s possible to run into gas lines and electric lines buried where you don’t think they should be buried . Just be very careful people ! Sometimes gas lines aren’t buried as far below the surface as you think they might be, use caution. A nicked gas line could explode and in fact has exploded before, be careful !!! ❄️☃️💚🙃
Yes! I called before i planted a tree. It wasn't a large hole but I was planting near (10 feet) utility boxes so I wanted to be extra careful. Always call before you dig
So exciting! Have you ever thought about a water feature? I think berm the kidney bean area with a waterfall and small stream would be lovely for that area. The berm would cozy the space and the water would add a nice sound. Love what you are doing!
Wowzers, how exciting to see your garden design. It is going to look fabulous. Thanks for taking us along on this project. I can't wait to get in my garden in a few months if we ever thaw out. It is -1 feels like -15 brrr in hibernation mode.
Hi Robbie! You and Brent got a lot done! You said to just ignore Freya, how is that possible????? 🤔🤨 The layout that you showed us is going to look so good. I think you'll be much happier not having grass walkways for all the reasons you mentioned. The wider pathways will be so nice. I hope the tree ring works. It's a good thing that you will be doing YT full time because you have a lot of projects to do. I'm really looking forward to your and Brent's progress. Thank you so much for sharing!
I was lowkey having a heart attack while Brent was digging. 😮 In 🇨🇦we call one phone number and “Call Before You Dig” sends a technician to your home - free of charge, to locate and mark ALL of your lines (gas, electrical (our electricity is buried), water, sewer, etc.). If you were to cut a line, especially a gas line the results could be catastrophic. Excited about your project though.
Robbie I just saw that you have a lemon cypress across the way of your door path, remember I suggested two lemon cypress on each side of your door. What if you can go and get two that are on clearance and shape them into two boxwood. I know you can do it💪🏽 you’ve done hair as a career, it should be a piece of cake. 😁 Just a suggestion 😄
It's nice to see the progress coming along. Good luck containing the anemone. I'm interested to see if this containment method works. I have had to dig pretty deep down to remove Japanese anemone roots so I'm skeptical that it will work, but I'm hopeful. Fingers crossed that it works. 🤞
I was enjoying watching your breath condensation come out of your mouth as you spoke. It must have been quite cold. I live in SE Pennsylvania, and we are just are expecting our 3rd night of minus zero temps (-2 / -3 / -1). It's frigid, an artic front.
Oh my gosh! What a vision you have. It's going to be so pretty. The lines you painted and then the walk around showing just how it is layed out! perfect! and the water line description. (you should be a teacher) I can see the whole picture. wow wow! Hurry up! I can't wait to see the end project. hahhaha just kidding take your time and enjoy each moment. how fun. and then all the plants and stones you will get to pick out! are you going to have a fire pit over in the new area? that would be nice to. anyway, enjoy and can't wait to see the progress. lots of hard work. but well worth it. thanks for sharing. Genie :)
It’s going to be great and you will have a fab time filling all those new flower beds with plants and flowers🌸🌺😍 can wait to get into my garden but weather in N W England too wet and cold 💦😂☔️
Now if you are talking hangout area in the middle of the back yard it would awesome around a cozy fire pit. Should be big enough. Nice. I can’t wait to see what you do. Good luck on full time. Wishing you the very best.
This is quite a project! As it comes together, it will be so much fun to watch the progress. You are going to have a beautiful garden. Looking forward to the planting!
Good morning Robbie and Brent 🌞 EEEEKKKKK....... 👏👏👏 I am sooo... excited for you two and for us as well. 😁 Love your plans, excited to see your vision come to life!! 😊 always, Jen 💜
Everyone has dreams and your future home is your dream, but for the life of me I don’t understand why you would want to give up what you have now! I absolutely adore what you have now and keep adding to. I love watching you and Brent, and I wish you both the best!
I was wondering when you were going to start this project. What a fun surprise to wake up to this morning. Now I will enjoy your video with my cup of tea.! 💙💚💛🧡 Liz
Good morning! I love the plan! As you were showing where you wanted the patio with the long table, I was thinking about the apple trees! Once you are using the space, replacing the apple trees with something taller to block the view will be a blessing in disguise! It’s going to be beautiful! Such an oasis!
Good morning. I don’t care how long the trenching took, that machine was so much easier and faster than digging by hand. If you’re wanting a small tree I’d go with a crabapple rather than ginko in the middle bed; dwarf ginko are more shrub-like, they don’t really get tall enough to limb-up. Please consider the mature sizes of the trees you plant and don’t plant too close to structures, fences and other trees.
Wow. I love the idea of the urns flanking the entrances to the dining table area. It is going to be spectacular. Both you and Brent did great with the ditch witch.
I’d also include putting some conduit in for future electric ? Doing it now would b easier and less cost! It’s going to b so nice , can’t wait to see the progression!🌿
What about when we’re using an auger to plant plants???? How many of us call for utility lines location. I am going to call so I will have an idea. Thanks for the encouragement!!👍❄️🫶
Wow! Love the plans Robbie. I’m going to love watching this come together. So exciting! Can I make a suggestion? Around the circle patio maybe consider a hedge of shrubs to create a “room”. It would make that area so cozy and add privacy at the same time. Perfect spot for a fire pit too. Just some ideas. Whatever you decide it’s going to look great. Good call on the wide pathways too. Good luck!
I am so excited for you guys. Seeing long terms plans start to come to life is wonderful. We will all be along for the ride, and without doing the actual work, yah!
Oh the ditch witch! I wish I would’ve had a video rolling when we decided it was a great idea to dig a 100ft ditch in ROCK! Come to middle or east TN and the ditch witch is useless. I have ptsd from the whole experience. 😂. It literally involved people almost dying in the middle of an intersection. How you ask? Well the trailer I guess was not locked on the hitch. Then the driver of the truck freaks out because it’s not attached. Gets out of the truck and forgets to put it in PARK! I’m in the backseat of this truck with no door to get out! Rolling into the intersection! Literally insane. This unfortunately was not my only experience with heavy machinery. The stories don’t get better. I have since made the decision that we will no longer be using heavy equipment. Because someone almost dies like every time. 🤦🏼♀️🤣
WOW, you got a lot accomplished today. Excited to see what you plant. I vote for the Crabapple, fall color food for birds in the winter. One of the Ginkgo has a horrible smell. Can’t remember if it’s mail or female. Happy Gardening 🥰🌻
You need to have the city come and mark the location of electrical, water and gas pipes? They will do this for free. Usually just contact your utility companies. They can tell you what you need to do. They mark areas with different plastic colored flags. Telling you what they are underground. You can blow up your house or harm yourself. Don’t forget you have to see about permits for some of the work you plan to do. This is very important. It will cause you problems and fines before you can sell your home. Your plans should be fun and enjoyable for Brent and you.
Yes a lot of people forget to do this especially since it can take a while for them to come out and do that. I did that years ago just to till and dig in my yard. Thank you for posting this helpful information for those unaware of it.
Love these plans and I think you are going to love it. That edging is amazing, great idea to use it around a spreading plant. Good call on the Ditch Witch!
The progress is fantastic. I have a greenhouse that is on a slope, and have been avoiding clearing the grass to lay stone out of fear. Sucker has put my leg in a boot a few times. This video helps me to feel like maybe I can do it. ❤
Love it! My goodness, you guys are going to have such a beautiful, park like backyard. I'm so jealous. It's currently 33' here in Tacoma, WA. I can't wait to get outside. Maybe I'll see you at the Flower & Garden show this year.
Should be beautiful. I hear so many TH-cam gardeners talk about getting rid of grass to save water. I am not sure how the logic about eliminating grass squares with saving water. I am not against getting rid of grass and adding especially native plants for other ecological reasons. I just know how much water I use on all my plants.
Great question! I’m going to use it in next weeks Q&A but also want to answer it here. From google so we will take it with a grain of salt “A 1,000 sq ft lawn in California uses about 40,000-70,000 gallons of water per year” we have to run our sprinkler system usually 2x a day for 30 min each in the summer months and our summers are extremely long where we run our landscape irrigation for 15 min 2x a day in the summer months. With evaporation and over spray of sprinklers it really does waste a lot of water for us. Plus our water bill should be much cheaper!
HOLEy, moley! I can almost see it now and it will be very cool. I love having a dining table set up for night time noshings. Have you checked out Vater's back garden? Like that.

Oh my goodness, Judy that is such great advice. You are absolutely correct! ❤️🥰👍 Liz
Yes! I called before i planted a tree. It wasn't a large hole but I was planting near (10 feet) utility boxes so I wanted to be extra careful. Always call before you dig
In Iowa we call 811 before you dig…they mark all of the utility lines
@@kathy5216 in Michigan it used to be called Miss Dig but I think they call it something else now. ❄️⛄️💚🙃
This will be so great to watch! Zone3 Manitoba 🇨🇦👏👏👏
Hello zone 3 Manitoba, from zone 4a Alberta 🇨🇦! 🥶
Hi Peggy-Ann and GardenerPhyl! 🥶🇨🇦
Hi back Peggy and GardenerPhyl…..we’ll get spring someday! Keep warm! 🤓❄️

So exciting! Have you ever thought about a water feature? I think berm the kidney bean area with a waterfall and small stream would be lovely for that area. The berm would cozy the space and the water would add a nice sound. Love what you are doing!
I cannot wait to see this end product 👏
SOOO Exciting!! Can’t wait to watch this transformation ❤
Love the design. Can’t wait to watch the progress!

"Gotta mess it up, b4 you clean it up" - that's what my mom would say ❤ I'm excited for the plan to evolve! 🎉😊
I love the design. It’s going to be beautiful.
Could your smile get any bigger!! I love how excited you are!
Robbie this is going to be so exciting to watch come together. Love to see new gardens being formed.
Did u guys call for the Utility finders to come out and mark underground piping?
Yay! You started the makeover. It will be lovely when completed. And who cares if you change plans again - it's your garden. Have fun with it.😊

Exciting times ahead, looking forward to the adventure!
Great amount of progress today. Your property is going to be gorgeous.
Excited for you- i agree with the suggestion of a dwarf crabapple would be a great addition
The water 💧 bills must be extreme
So much hard work! It will be amazing.
Hi Robbie, i too was going to suggest laying a pipe for electricity to the new patio.
I can't wait to see every episode!!! So exciting!❤
How exciting, Robbie. It's going to he spectacular once you have everything where you want it.
That trencher is so worth the money. The right tools for the right job…saving your back❤
Now if you are talking hangout area in the middle of the back yard it would awesome around a cozy fire pit. Should be big enough. Nice. I can’t wait to see what you do. Good luck on full time. Wishing you the very best.
Did a lot of work congratulations 💪👏👏👏👏 can’t wait to see your vision in progress and thank you for taking us along 😊
It is going to be beautiful. Happy your dreams are coming true!
I love to watch new flower beds being made from scratch! This is exciting!
Wow, you better be eating your Wheaties! This is going to be an awesome project!
That’s awesome. I’m excited for the transformation.
Love the wider pathways too.😊
I’ve got a beautiful crabapple, so I vote for that, plus the birds love the fruit!! Ginkgo are beautiful in the fall however 💚💚💚🌸
It’s always exciting to see a plan come together.
Everyone has dreams and your future home is your dream, but for the life of me I don’t understand why you would want to give up what you have now! I absolutely adore what you have now and keep adding to. I love watching you and Brent, and I wish you both the best!

It will be beautiful! So glad you have decided to do YT, instead of both jobs, 💕🇺🇸
Good start. Can't wait to see the rest.
Please do pea gravel, looks so much better than the decomposed granite.
I love your garden design. I look forward to the transformation!

Missed the time that u mentioned putting in conduit - sorry!
Yes. Makes sense you're excited. That's one beautiful design. I love space under the Willow tree.
Robbie and Brent, I'm so proud of You ! I love big projects like this one!
I am so excited for the two of you! Thanks for sharing your backyard journey. I love getting planting and decorating ideas from you! ❤
Thank you Robbie and Brent. ❄️☃️💚🙃

So excited for you! Thanks for taking us along during the process!
I can’t wait to see the progress 😀. As a suggestion, maybe set the flower beds on ten different zones as an option.
Wow! Love the plans Robbie. I’m going to love watching this come together. So exciting! Can I make a suggestion? Around the circle patio maybe consider a hedge of shrubs to create a “room”. “200 years later” 😂😂😂
This is all very exciting. It’s going to be beautiful.
My husband and I did chat paths on the side yard and back yard. It’s really great and fairly easy to do, as far as paths go. Good luck guys!
You are soooo happy and that makes me smile from ear to ear. Congrats on the beginning of your new journey!!!!!

Oh no 😲 how scary! I'd have ptsd for real. Glad it wasn't worse. 😊
It's going to be great Robbie don't you worry.😊
Great to see the progress

Wow you guys got so much done and it really makes sense now what your plans are. I’m o excited for you.
I’m looking forward to watching your plan come to life!
What a great accomplishment to get a lot done 👏👏
Good morning Robbie and good morning to everyone here, can’t wait to see your back yard 😊😊😊 I am so exciting🥰👩🏼🌾

Love these plans and I think you are going to love it. That edging is amazing, great idea to use it around a spreading plant. Good call on the Ditch Witch!
Wow Robbie this looks awesome! I can’t wait to watch this take shape! Deanna @gardensglory😊

How far are you from all the fires? Great video and happy you are doing this full time now!!!! Your yard/garden is amazing!!!!
Awe 👋🏻 Brent ❄️☃️💚🙃
So exciting ❤
Think about water features that you might want and lay pipe/infrastructure/wire even if you don’t connect it…so easy now. Not so much later.
I was thinking the same thing. A large three tier water feature!
O honey! You have tons of room to do stuff! ❤❤🎉🎉
So exciting!!! Can't wait to see your dream come true!
Lots of work! Glad you are both young!

AND WE ARE LEAVING IT THAT COLOR 😂😂😂😂🎉🎉
Job well done!
I love how ambitious you two are! So excited to watch your landscaping project!! 😊🇨🇦
Going to look fantastic. Great job!!!
Good morning at -1 🥶 this morning
.That is going to be nice.
So exciting! Can’t wait to watch the transformation!
HOLEy, moley! I can almost see it now and it will be very cool. I love having a dining table set up for night time noshings. Have you checked out Vater's back garden? Like that.
Call miss dig. And then paint your borders and beds and pathways. It would be so much easier to see the plan
