Oh I love that insight on how certain voices can't be captured as well if not by the right type of microphone. I felt it with Onew & Key the most. Their vocal placement is frontal, straightforward, and strong (if that makes sense), sometimes I feel they need to hold back a lot especially in recording.

As you may know, "One Star (Way)" is a pre-release single that Onew released especially for fans to tide us over until the release of his second solo album sometime in the first part of next year. His album was supposed to be released in September, but things have been delayed. As you saw with the lyric video, the song is about a couple who are longing to be reunited with each other. As the song goes along, the two realize their love is bound by fate. As the lyrics of the chorus say, “At a slightly different time / In the invisible world / One star in the same room / You and I have one name and one face.” Of course, Onew's live version is better than the recorded lyric video. :D He is a member of SHINee after all. There is nothing like SHINee's live vocals. As a Shawol, it's a well known fact that SHINee live is unmatech. They are always 300 times better than any of their recordings. That is why they are referred to as CDINee or CD-eaters, because they sound even better live then they do in their studio recordings. Knowing that Onew wrote the lyrics for this song makes it that much more beautiful and emotional. I can really feel him putting his whole heart into this song and performance. This is such a perfect song for this time of year. Full of the warm and fuzzy feelings for the holidays. I think this song is destined to become a new Kpop holiday classic. It's definitely going on my holiday playlist, and it will be one I recommend anytime someone asks me for holiday song recommendations. The chills I get listening to this song seem to only grow everytime I hear it, I'm not sure I will ever become numb to the beauty of their voices and the feeling this song creates. This song really highlights what an amazing vocalists Onew is and it showcases how hard he has been working lately with his vocal training. He has always been an amazing singer, but this just shows how he is continuously pushing himself to become even better. Onew has recently said he has been focusing on his vocal training, experimenting with new ways of singing in order to showcase his full vocal range. He is now feeling more responsibility as one of SHINee's main vocalist to make sure he is able to maintain the same vocal quality that he is known for, as he ages. However, Onew is known in the industry as the male vocalist with the most consistent vocals. He has been one of SHINee's main vocalists since debut and he is recognized as one of the top vocalists in Kpop since even before debut. Onew was only one of two people ever personally cast by Lee SooMan, the founder of SM, and he was chosen at age 16 for his outstanding vocal ability. Onew's vocals are so good that as a rookie he was even a vocal coach and mentor to a lot of SM's trainees. Punch's and Onew's voices are perfect together, and I couldn't imagine a better pairing for this song. But truthfully, who doesn't sound amazing singing with Onew? He is one of the most coveted male vocalists in the industry that all singers dream of getting the chance to sing with. And if you have ever seen him on programs such as Sea of Hope, you have seen how he can be paired with almost anyone and somehow his voice is able to highlight the other singers' voices, and take the song to a whole new level, no matter their vocal style. I didn't even realize my tears when I listened to Way. The song itself is just beautiful but hearing the lyrics made me too emotional because it reminded me of a certain someone :') and it made me think it was intended that way especially since it's that time of the year. And then watching the live clip and how Onew kept on looking up like he was looking at the sky just... it was too much 🤧. I love it. It's beautiful and even though I was an emotional mess it brought me comfort. It's gonna stay on my playlist for a while 💚.
