First time I've seen this video but it's one of the best. A great synopsis of the programme for anyone new watching it. Great loving family feel. Loved it.
Okay I had to come back I love this this time everything was great people were happy Time was good things were simple . Life was good and family's bond meant everything
When I was a kid I didn't have much of a family as far as parents went my father was at work all the time and my mother was out doing her thing and I was left home alone. I remember being a little child 5 years old and on and being left alone in the evening when it would start to get dark. I remember how scary and creepy the house would get. And of course there was no one there except me and my younger brothers and sisters. My experience The Big Valley the late 1960's, early 1970s when the show was not in production anymore but in reruns. I remember that the Barclays suddenly became my foster family. While the show was on I remember feeling loved and cared about and belonging to something important. And the Dark Shadows around me and monsters outside suddenly didn't bother me for at least that hour. I was 5 years old then and I never lost my love for The Big Valley, and the Barclays. The worst memory I have of The Big Valley is when they would run the final credits when you see the front of the house sitting there. And I knew I wouldn't see my family again until tomorrow afternoon and then a terrible feeling of loneliness came over me. To this day the Barclays still Inspire memories of family and love and belonging. Such a great show one of my all-time favorites.
Give The Barkleys their props. They welcomed Heath a lot more than JR ever welcomed Ray and even Christopher into The Ewing Family on Dallas. He never let them forget that they were either a "Half Breed" or "A Ewing By Circumstance".
I remember watching that first episode since my Mom liked Stanwyck as a kid and we watched the show on our black and white TV set . Audra was so hot looking .
@MFHORNS111 Thanks, you're very welcome! I also have a special place in my heart for BV, as well for Bonanza and Little house on the prairie. Now I want to go back and rewatch them! :)
If you add "The Waltons" to that list (Bonanza, Big Valley and Litttle House) and tally up a list of the people who adored those shows (as I do, and a lot of us here do) I would be willing to bet that you would find a number of people who came from unhappy, dysfunctional families and who would have LOVED to belong to one of these close and loving ones. A family where you felt like you mattered. Where you felt supported and believed in. Any takers?
Hard to beat this casting..... absolutely perfect.

Don't know if it was planned.
But Lee Majors really became the star of that show

Lee Majors (Heath Barkley) and Linda Evans (Audra Barkley) are the only ones still living from the series.
There was another young son who suppose went off to school
Lovely, fitting tribute!
The Barkley's And The Cartwright's
Oh, God! = they were my "play uncles" growing up in a very dysfunctional family
Excellent! I hope to see more videos from you soon!!
