Used to have to use these multipliers fairly often in IMA level work. Then we got a Hydraulic wrench system. Talk about night and day. They are very expensive but, if you're doing industrial level maintenance regularly they are a worth while expense. For the everyday DIY'er though, these multipliers should do the trick.
At work we have the proto professional which is 3800 ft lb max & is 18.5 to 1 ratio it's about $4000 bucks it's 1/2 dr input & 1 inch output we never use it for breaking loose bolts we use 1" & 1 1/2" dr impacts we only use ours for tightening bolts with a 3 3/4" socket to 2850 ft lb
I do not use the big tools very often for turning Fasteners but having a collection of large socket has proven to be totally invaluable for press work on bushings and bearings one big reason to get them is I have a huge variety of different diameter cups and pushers
Arguably you would want both but it impact wrench first and then one of these because they can get into much tighter spaces than a giant 1 inch impact wrench secondly these can also be used with a torque wrench and you cannot accurately torque bolts with an impact
Both the 4 to 1 gear ratio would be a 4 to 1 torque ratio although there is friction that's why you have use the 15% adjustment when using it with a torque wrench
👁 HAVE ONE OF THESE X4 MULTIPLIERS IT STILL HAS IT'S STICKER LABLE INTACT (SNAP-ON) BAD TO THE BONE NOW I'VE REACHED THE AGE WHERE IT'S NOT NEEDED AND AND LIKE NEW NO LESS I'VE GOT TO OKD TO NEED IT ANYLONGER
Never knew about these ,saw it used on Gold Rush and as usual TH-cam educates me .
pulled 550 ft lbs on pinion nut under truck by myself yesterday

Working on heavy equipment sir i only use hand multiplyer but i bet those Hydraulik ones would be awesome 👍👍
Would really like to see the Torque Multiplier in use, keep up the great videos.
Nice discussion!
I've been meaning to ask you if you've seen the 1in drive impact socket sets at harbor freight I've been curious about getting those
the best and cheapest hard steel bar would be bench press bar, one inch is commo too
these are found for $10 second hand (that’s 2m too!)

Yes indeed that is cool. But man I can't believe proto is charging that much money, as much as a used car.
Do u use these things? How often I have seen hydraulic ones of those and yes your correct it can injure you. Thanks

You've got some big nuts, good thing you go the tool to bust them loose. Great video
:)
Ha! I see what u did there!
That looks like the socket that fell down a titan missile silo and punctured the oxidized tank in Arkansas
So what's better.. a good impact wrench or one of these?

Very nice 👍
Thank you 👍
they're like 77.99 but with the 25% off ya could get em like 55 or something
Yes I did a review on the Harbor Freight inch Drive metric sockets.
Might be good for certain on the road car jobs
And for heavy diesel trucks, heavy equipment, farm machinery, heavy construction, Shipbuilding, mining equipment, oil and gas industry, Etc
How to oder
👁 HAVE ONE OF THESE X4 MULTIPLIERS
