Gents, this is really a stellar episode! Your editing and the use of drone footage are just getting better and better! The shots of you crossing the big aqueduct from the drone were just excellent. I have to say that you really improved my day with this wonderful film. I really like how Otis has become a proper part of the crew, sitting up on the navigation deck with you two for most of the film. Excellent! Best wishes from a cold and snowy Central Michigan!!!
You know, I was thinking about Otis as well. He seemed very stoic in this episode. But then I realized he probably felt the need to be extra vigilant what with his crewmates messing about. Love all you fellas. Florida Laura 🍊🤗🧡
I'm very sorry but my elderly father only tunes in every Friday at 4pm to see your beautiful dog Otis, he absolutely luvs him. Hope you three have a good week.
My Grandfather-in-law always said he was born in Edinburgh but recently I obtained his immigration papers which say he was born in Falkirk. This episode has been especially interesting since I’m getting a bird’s eye view of the area. He was quite a character and I have fond memories of him. Awesome views. Thanks guys. As always. 😊
I hope the new boat will have a little dog shelf like this one. You can tell Otis just loves being up there being with you and watching the world go by.
I have only just started watching your adventures. Absolutely wonderful. And talking about mental health too, is only a bonus. Following you and the countryside of the UK from my very cold corner of the earth is very special. Words are not my forte; I just love it all and thank you both.
Otis is loving the semi trad on the narrowboat. He wasnt amused by your humerous outakes, he was seriously watching the way forward. Great vlog thank you to you three xxx
Your opening is being upstaged by a beautiful dog over your shoulder. He’s waiting for his close up. Another great episode. It’s a living history lesson. Pictures and commentary. And 2 guys just enjoying life together. Thanks and stay well!!!
Thank y’all for another great Vlog! I wanted to hug Otis every time I saw him, and I’d like to give y’all a hug as well. All the scenery, history, aqueducts, and the tunnel satisfied immensely! Thank you. Looking forward to next week! See you then.
What a beautiful canal, quite narrow as you said, but it hugs you as you travel along. The aqueducts were beautiful, and your shots from all angles gave them real gravitas. Brilliant history along the way, and I'm sure the residents of Linlithgow will be delighted at their own place in the books, and of course, in Star Trek folklore! Another gold standard vlog guys. Just love Otis photo bombing your intro! He's such a cutie. Keep warm xxx
This one was truly amazing ! So many good bits, scenery and history. I very much enjoyed the trip across the Avon Aquaduct, every bit as spectacular and breathtaking as the Pontcysyllte which I've had the good fortune of crossing aboard an ABC Hire boat. And . . . I have to say, the story about the two blokes who were murdering and selling bodies for medical dissection was quite intriguing, especially when one of them received the same fate in the end; the skeleton in the museum was right out of Ripley's Believe it or Not ! Thanks once again Colin and Shaun for capturing and sharing so much beauty that is Scotland. I wish you both a Happy Christmas and a happy and healthy 2022.
As you are aware I have had a somewhat eventful week, so it was wonderful to sit and watch this vlog. Entertaining and informative what more could you ask for.. thanks guys! Dominic. xxx
Love the vlog. We cycled this canal from Edinburgh to the Falkirk Wheel a few years ago. It is an amazing piece of kit and The Kelpies are stunning. Enjoy the history you share too.
Love Otis in the background at the start! My son lives in Linlithgow. Walked around the Loch there many a time. Loving your vlogs on the Scottish canals.
Another great video Colin & Shaun. Thanks for taking us along on this continue Scottish Adventure. Wishing you both, as the Queen would say, a Happy Christmas. And of course Handsome Otis. As you may have noticed in my comments, I'm quite taken with Otis. He just exudes this Majestic Presents from his being. I'm also, looking forward to your New Years' Eve Live Broadcast. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, and have a wonderful Holiday Season. Respectfully Jessiah
James Doohans military record is far more interesting than the character he played, he was a genuine hero who showed amazing bravery even after his star trek career he saved a suicidal star trek fan she later became an engineer
I must admit to being one of those that mentioned the Falkirk wheel 🤦🏼♀️ Can’t wait for you to do it, I’m so impressed they managed to fix the canal so quickly once again such a fab episode so well researched too 🤗🤗
Loved Otis in the background during the introduction. The castle must have been a great site before it was burned and lovely of the people to put up the the cat monument. Not sure I would like the tunnel though. I hate the squirty bottle, you never seem to be able to get everything out of the bottle.
In the 1930s. my uncle, Ian Waugh, and his friends would go to the Falkirk Tunnel and play their ukuleles. The tunnel amplified the sound. My mother was a little girl and she went with them sometimes. She’s now 98 and still talks about it.
hi lads, I was on site cycling back from Edinburgh when the canal bank washed away, one of the most scariest times, lads from the trust actually gave me a lift round the washout, tc and subbed.
I think back to this vlog often. It should have gotten an " excellence in broadcasting" award. Color me impressed. I used to watch the weather channel all day long. Jim Cantoris team couldn't have done it better . XOXOX TO YOU BOTH AND PUPPERS TOO..
I have received the calendar I ordered from you and now it’s up! Thank-you and I’m looking forward to experiencing it and the and photos as I flip through the months. I haven’t looked ahead so I have something extra to celebrate every month!
Really enjoyed the vlog this week. Good scenery, and to see Otis sitting there so majestically, great fun. As usual so many interesting historic facts. Thank you guys. Take care, stay safe and well. Regards Derek.
Another amazing vlog. The drone shots of Linlithgow castle was breathtaking. And You came up with some chilling stories as usual. I did not now the spooky story about the Falkirk tunnel. Brilliant stuff.
Well done lads Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all three of you, thaks for all your hard work in research and interesting facts in all your vids.💗
Awesome vid guys. Squirter or dipper? Seriously 😳. Had me in stitches 🧵. So I played the game with you two, so clearly that Colin is a squirter and then you must be the dipper lmao 🤣. Epic lmao 😂. Awesome content again guys. I just love the history lessons there right up my ally, if thaa knows what I mean. Lol 😝. So Covid is slapping us again so please stay safe & healthy and I’ll catch yah on the next one ☝️. Also stay warm, get watter bottles out lol 😝
How cute is Otis sitting with his hind toes stretched in front of him? What a good boy! Thanks for another great escape, you guys! Can't wait until next week. :)
@@FoxesAfloat Have to upgrade the engine with a dilithium crystal ;-) That church spire on the church next to the castle looked quite futuristic. Maybe Scotty has visited and set up a subspace beacon 👽

Great job again gentlemen. I thought I was fast out the blocks watching the video only 37 seconds, allegedly, after it was posted and straight to a comment on completion but there have been hundreds of views and more than 70 comments ! Something is going on. I really enjoyed this episode and look forward to the next as I was just in Falkirk a few weeks ago, to see my Mum and brothere for the first time in two years, as COVID has meant I have not been able to travel back over. We went to the tea room, right by the quiet basin that you pointed out, and took various walks by the water. I was just waiting for you to mention the “ Laughin` Greetin` Bridge” as I was sure you would do but I guess there is not enough time to cover anything. Sitting here in the Czech Republic each Friday my weekend kicks off watching you two. No pressure then, because if you miss out one Friday then I am going to basically feel like the work week hasn`t stopped. Also looking forward to hearing about how you shall feel about heading back down south, which I know is home, and if your time in Scotland will have left a lasting impression.
Another wonderful vlog, and the laughs induced by the last of the outtakes may have leaked down my face a little too…. Otis is a fabulous side kick for that - his expression completely dead pan….! Anyway, hope the wind chill hasn’t made you too cold, and you are able to continue your explorations of the canal, complete with historical tales and intriguing facts and more. Safe travels, keep warm and keep being you!
The beauty of Scotland is amazing. Such professional filming but just have to mention Otis. I hope he gets spoiled with lots of dog biscuits and goodies for Christmas.
The collision could be because as you said it earlier, only 1 or 2 boats are met whilst cruising.. people there are maybe too relax compared to canals in "busy" England.. 😃
Another entertaining and informative video! Otis appears to be the original "need to know," he is always so alert to everything going by the boat. He is one happy pup. All 3 of you stay safe and warm. Will you be going anywhere special for Christmas?
Hi Colin & Shaun, the Aqueduct was awesome, I love that they put railings up so you can see what's below. Wow that tunnel must have taken ages to dig through, it's absolutely huge and very cool too. I'm glad no-one got hurt in the accident with the other narrowboat, it looked like they hit you fairly hard too. Thank you for sharing, much love to you both & Otis. xx 💖
In Christchurch New Zealand one of The rivers going through the city is called the Avon and is named after the river in Scotland . Two of the early settlers were the Deans brothers and before coming to New Zealand their family farmed near the Avon at Kirkstyle, Riccarton, Scotland . When the came to Christchurch they named the river Avon after the one near there home town and began farming in a area they called Riccarton. Their original cob house still exists as well as a larger wooden house . Also they preserved Deans bush an area of 6.4 hectares one of the few areas left of the original forest on the Canterbury plain . This has a predator fence around it and the hope is one day to reintroduce Kiwis to this reserve.
Great video as usual! I look forward to your videos every week and every time I'm entertained, educated, and amused. I feel like you are bringing me along on your journey. Can't wait to see where we are going next!
There were two contactors used to build the union canal one starting At Edinburgh and one starting at Falkirk they both met just past the tunnel at Halglen, because it was a contour canal the Edinburgh contractor had it much easier than the Falkirk contractor, who had to tunnel through solid rock, the bridge on the other side of the tunnel is called the laughing/greeting bridge and has stone carvings of the contractors laughing and greeting
Love seeing Scotty's future birthplace. James Doohan's family supports Linlithgow's claim. And when Otis's ears flap in the wind he reminds me of Falkor, the Luck Dragon in Neverending Story. He is a very handsome dog.
Thank you so much for doing what you do. Be well and take care of each other. FYI: They did not name that star constellation the Big Squirter! Just saying. That said, I like both dipping and squirting. Is that bad? Oh My.
Thanks for the vlog. Twenty years ago , we went on the replica steam packet boat, Victoria, which our friend was involved in the renovation of her. I even got to steer her, which was interesting as a she has central steering. She was moored up at the Linlithgow canal centre when you went past. Definitely worth a visit.
