Well, Chiang was of the lesser evil. Imagine Beijing with the same vibe as Taipei.
That would be terrible. Compare Shanghai with Taipei - one is sleek and modern and the other one seems like it is stuck in the eighties.

@@sc9881 I do agree with you somewhat that many cities are beginning to look the same and I was certainly impressed by the civility of people living in Taipei the last time I visited. But Taiwan really need to spend more effort in the upkeep of her buildings and infrastructure.

Taiwan will be forever stuck in mediocracy as long as it is ruled by the treacherous ROC. Only by reunification with the PRC can Taiwan continue to develop.

That is the sun yat sun suit, worn by both early communist revolutionaries and the KMT. Mao famously wore it. SYS was the first Kuomintang leader and was well regarded by both the KMT and the communists before the civil war
