    This was INCREDIBLY helpful. Thank you!! Your videos are so dense with information. I had to rewind like 500 times to make sure I was actually absorbing exactly what you meant for each nuanced case. Thank you for going deep rather than just broad. It means a lot!

    Awesome video Ricky. My best post is a query post getting over 15,000 pageviews every month. And it keeps growing and growing. I've been trying to replicate that success, but I find out that chosing a title for those posts is extremely hard. For example... if the post is titled "Which fruit rots the fastest?", why would someone googling "How long do oranges last at room temperature?" click on your post? That's the issue I've been having. And I see this happening on most of my query posts.

    • @john-coker
      @john-coker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very true. It’s better when they are super related like “what all can a beta fish eat?”

    • @ChetanRao
      @ChetanRao 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I've experienced this issue too. In this specific example, perhaps a title like, "Rot Rank: How Long Every Fruit Lasts", or "Fruit Shelf Life: How Long Every Fruit Lasts" might be more clickable for a wider set of queries.

    • @inigonavarro-rubio3367
      @inigonavarro-rubio3367 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ChetanRao I agree that those would be better. But depending on the keyword research you might no want to go for a broader posts. The query “which fruit rots the fastest” could be so powerful (because of high volume and low competition), that you might want to address it directly. But I agree that your titles are better. I would use those over the one that’s actually being used. It’s also true that you can win snippets even with a title that doesn’t match 100% with the user’s intent.

    • @nevencuca1680
      @nevencuca1680 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      when you speak of oranges, I would make a test with a orange from a supermarket that is treated with anti rot chemicals and those that you just have in your own garden. This perspective could give you a lot to write about and this is something I would like to read because it concerns health.

    This is an excellent approach. I wonder if Google is smart enough to find answers in a table as the content is phrased very differently than the classic question/answer paragraph.

  • @pokerboyz

    Great way to explain query groups. I have a question. I wonder if you can write a query group for a type of recipe. For example. All banana cakes have the same base recipe, but the different queries result in other versions of that recipe: vegan banana cake, chocolate banana cake, almond meal banana cake, etc. Could you address the different banana cake variations in one blog, or because it is a recipe, each merits its own. OR do you write a general post to explain the basic recipe, create a table for the ingredients in each variation, and link to the individual post with the specific recipe for the variation?

    • @ChetanRao
      @ChetanRao 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My take is that for recipies, it's best to write separate posts for each one, because a large percentage of people searching for this information are probably not expert-level chefs / bakers. So, presenting this information in a combined form is likely going to confuse or intimidate them. This will probably affect time-on-page and pogo-sticking, which in turn will adversely affect search rank.

  • @SeanOCallaghan0106

    what about top lists? Should I always do bigger top lists than my competitors? If for example on the first page of Google there's a "top 19 golf clubs", in order to rank should I aim for a "top 21 golf clubs"?

    • @ChetanRao
      @ChetanRao 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A bigger number often does help. In addition, finding a unique angle and ensuring that the post title reflects that value-addition often helps get a better CTR and search rank. For instance, if the query "best golf clubs for beginners" results in a page where all the search results have more or less the same "Best XX golf clubs" sort of titles, writing a post with a title like, "XX top beginner golf clubs ranked by pro coaches" might outperform the competition.
