@@xKelaino i think you might know this by now, but you can lit the torch by holding it and touching one of those torch decorations (some other stuff also lit the torch too), and there is always a torch decoration where yang spawns so you don't need the lamp if you have a torch
Yeah climbing gloves can be good but sometimes if you jump and try to grab something next to a wall you can whip the item instead which can be deadly with a powerpack and can break ghost pot
I think the Skeleton Key would be better if there were locked chests that could occasionally spawn in levels with a key spawned somewhere else, and they would contain a large amount of gems almost like a vault chest. Would add a bit more variety to the game as another mini-objective.

Finally getting some Mattock appreciation. Everyone I’ve seen play Spelunky undervalues Mattock IMO, it’s almost impossible for it to not be able to make more than its money back if you have glasses or Udjat.
Months ago, I was about to give up on me beating spelunky 2, and on the last run for the day I opened a crate and a plasma cannon popped out. I Died on 1-4 but it was such a empowering and inspiring experience that i ended up playing the rest of the day and ended up making it to tide pool. Thanks to twiggle, a Couple days ago I finally beat tiamat and now plan to make it to CO. Edit: it’s been a while… I haven’t cleared Cosmic ocean yet, but after almost a year of daily attempts I had much difficulty getting past 7-10. Yet, today however, something clicked and I ended up making it to 7-59, only dying because a dumb mistake. But I’m now confident I can make it within a month.

Feel like the necessary items should mostly be evaluated based on how good they are for other purposes, for instance udjat eye is nice for ankh skip if you don't have spectacles and excalibur makes for a passable weapon. Also mounts are basically items anyway, right?
If jetpacks didn't blow up we all know it'd be better than Vlad's cape. Which is sad because you get a jetpack for doing the harder route and can still lose it. Maybe the jetpack you get from Duat should be fireproof.
I do think the bow has an actual niche though. If you hate the pitchers mitt, you can use the bow as basically a controllable way to shoot projectiles straight. The arrow has a small hit box, but it still has a good use. The arrow sticking to walls is cool too
it would be interesting to have an Item Quiver mod in Spelunky 2, seeing as most of the time you have to carry the bow if you want to go to Cosmic Ocean
Maybe not that much... an immunity to the next two or three times might be better for game balance than complete nullification. It would add some inventive to going temple, since CO poison/curse is run ending sometimes. Three poison/curse saves would be super good, arguably better than the ankh in some cases

It'd give like 2 health each time you end a level for like 5 levels, so it'd be great for the chain as you'll be able to get health right after you die.
The elixir remains even if the player with the effect dies and resurrects with the Ankh or sacrifices themselves upon the Altar in The City of Gold and enters the Duat.
Maybe they should make it so once in the cosmic ocean if you got the elixer, getting cursed sets you to one health, but you can still heal. It could also extend the poison timer from 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Man only if they changed the elixir to trigger once you got poisioned or cursed. Having that + the alien compass would make temple super useful for CO runs.

You should reconfigure the list to tier's more apparent with your terms, with chain items being moved to their own tier or not ranked based on being chain items and instead based on their practical value apart from being chain items. Also I get that this video is kind of a meme but just a suggestion to give people more clarity with item's actual value. Example: -Amazing/Web Gun -Really Good -Good -Chain Items or Useful if not ranking items based on them being chain items -Meh/Niche Use Items -Useless/Bad Items -Lantern
Elixir that gives you extra health and cures poison and curses: trash. Backpack that allows you to keeps your hands free and teleport endlessly: useless. Gun that freezes almost all enemy’s allowing easy one shots: meh. Key that looks cool: VERY USEFUL
It doesn't, you get cured when you get a sacrifice reward from Kali for 16 favor or above. Often this reward is jelly, and curing curse replaces the normal reward with nothing, so this is often confused.
I would argue this list would have benefited from an extra tier of ‘has a use’ for stuff that is part of the chain. Like, it is technically useful but because it is hard coded inti the game lol
Now it would probably be a lot better, since elixir absorbs 1 hit of getting cursed and poisoned. Sadly, twiggle can't answer this anymore though, he passed away in late June.
Hey Twiggle do you think there is an imbalance between the Temple and the Tide Pool. I cant see many reasons in going to the Temple. Mainly because you cant Ankh save.
The Elixer is useful in ensuring you have sufficient health to survive being sacrificed. It removes bad states which is vital - especially cursed state which keeps you at 1HP.
blue shell sucks - you only get it when you're way behind, but it only really helps 2nd/3rd place. you are also underselling ice gun imo - is obviously deadly to crab men/bosses but also has some nice little QOL stuff like being able to freeze lava. the shottie is a liability in ways it rarely is (breaks off-screen ghost jars, reflects off force fields etc.)
Imagine if you went back to the Spelunky 1 era and told people that in Spelunky 2 people would rate the camera as a better item than the jetpack. XD

I think the frog suit deserves to be on the amazing tier, it makes swimming underwater much faster and it changea your jump animation.

You should reconfigure the list to tier's more apparent with your terms, with chain items being moved to their own tier or not ranked based on being chain items and instead based on their practical value apart from being chain items.
Also I get that this video is kind of a meme but just a suggestion to give people more clarity with item's actual value.

-Chain Items or Useful if not ranking items based on them being chain items

It doesn't, you get cured when you get a sacrifice reward from Kali for 16 favor or above. Often this reward is jelly, and curing curse replaces the normal reward with nothing, so this is often confused.
If you dont have paste, you can use the web gun to stick bombs to kingu's back if you cant whip bombs correctly (like me)
I would argue this list would have benefited from an extra tier of ‘has a use’ for stuff that is part of the chain. Like, it is technically useful but because it is hard coded inti the game lol

The Elixer is useful in ensuring you have sufficient health to survive being sacrificed. It removes bad states which is vital - especially cursed state which keeps you at 1HP.
How about post-rework elixir?

blue shell sucks - you only get it when you're way behind, but it only really helps 2nd/3rd place. you are also underselling ice gun imo - is obviously deadly to crab men/bosses but also has some nice little QOL stuff like being able to freeze lava. the shottie is a liability in ways it rarely is (breaks off-screen ghost jars, reflects off force fields etc.)
