I've been pushing these guitars since I first encountered them over 3 years ago now I believe. Hozen and his team make amazing guitars and I feel like they would be a lot more popular right now if they weren't so hard to contact and order from in the beginning, but I know they'll only grow from here. I'm not sure if that was a translation era or what, but I lost a bit of respect for Hozen (probably more than I should) when he made that statement about Larson Bros. guitars. I've never had the privilege to actually play a Larson Bros. guitar but I feel like I know more about them than most excluding experts and owners of the guitars, so I'm ecstatic that Hozen is taking design queues from them... I think thats extremely awesome and refreshing. You snipped Martin in the nuts pretty hard there though, and in turn have the possibility of pissing off the largest and most loyal brand fanbase in the guitar history which doesn't help sell guitars. C.F. Martin Sr. is on record as making the first guitar in America in 1833 and invented the modern acoustic guitar as we know it today. The Larson Bros., whose early guitars' body shapes were influenced by Martins, where the first to build acoustic guitars with steel strings.

I don't know what he said about Larson Brothers but I can tell Ho Zen is kind of an arrogant fellow. I don't know why he should be since Maestro is not a known brand at all!
As a rule, guitar manufacturers don't diss one anothers guitars and this applies to teachers too: No guitar teacher/instructors bad mouths another, it's just mutual respect for one another as guitar players and teachers. Look at Tomo Fujita - he is so humble. He never says that teacher is lousy, this teacher is lousy, bad etc.
He never comments on guitar makers as well and bad mouths their guitars. And this comes from a world class teacher.
For sure, I'm never getting a Maestro all because of their arrogant founder who doesn't know the rules of "industry decorum".
      What a joke!

Funny you say this, because I am the exact opposite...I have lost respect for Martin guitars, and I love Ho Zen. Martin guitars are overpriced, overbuilt, and they are resting on their laurels. The “Martin” name on the headstock adds $1500.00 - $2000.00 to every guitar they produce...and NONE of the Martin instruments are hand voiced. I just cannot justify buying a Martin in today’s economic climate. I didn’t think it was difficult to contact them, and Raymond was a huge help.
I heard of these guitars from my friend, Jonathan Koh, who lives in Singapore. Once I heard a demo, I instantly contacted Maestro. I first tried to get one through TNAG, but their customer service is severely lacking. I won’t go into it, but it was the worst experience I have ever had, with regard to purchasing anything.
Anyhow, I can see where you’re coming from, but I love my Maestro guitar, and have since sold every Martin I owned. Peace. 🐰💙🇺🇸🎸🎶🤝✌️

@@JackTheRabbitMusic Like I said. A little over 5 years ago when I wanted to buy one it was ridiculous. They had a website and had started to develope a few dealers that carried their entry level guitars, but besides that they only sold guitars through the Hotel in Singapore. I was after a custom made guitar. Also low end Martin's are definitely crappy guitars and the guitar market is crazy right now. However Martin still makes amazing guitars in their Custom Shop. Luckily I bought the custom martin of my dreams several years back and bought a few used Martin's on reverb that I couldn't pass up. I'm happy because they're phenomenal guitars and turned out to be really good investments... however I doubt I'll ever buy another new Martin at the rates the prices are headed for the top tier examples. Plus there are so many fantastic independent and boutique builders out there that can build your dream guitar. Or you can even try building your dream guitar yourself. Steven Fischer and Paul Reed Smith built an amazing acoustic several years back now and they have several models in their SE line so it's hard for an average person to choose to pay $10,000 for just 1 guitar when companies like Maestro, Blueridge, PRS se, and other overseas brands are really pumping out quality. I'm glad you've gotten your hands on a guitar that you love. I imagine that you can no longer get a completely custom guitar from them for $3500 anymore since they're probably no longer a secret. Hold on to that Maestro because at the current course all guitars are going to continue to increase beyond inflation.

Why support this guitar brand with a jerk as their boss. Hozen broke the cardinal guitarists rule - never diss other brands. He did just that with his comment on Larson Bros.
Grow up Hozen, Maestro ain't a big deal...

@@jeromestavrosyeo When I posted above (one year ago..), I had yet to receive the Maestro.., to make a long story short, I very quickly realized it was not the guitar for me and have since sold it.. at a loss of course..., for me, the guitar did not have the warmth I was hoping for.., sticking with my Martins... with this said, it was a well constructed, very attractive guitar.. I don't want to come off as dissing Maestro guitars, it just wasn't the guitar for me...as a left handed player, I don't have the good fortune of being able to try out guitars before buying in most cases...

Dont buy a Maestro! Stay away from them! Horrible build quality and customer service. I had mine only 3 months in an environmentally controlled room with my other guitars all of the are great but my Maestro. Buy a guitar that you can trust their build quality! Stay away! Extremely disappointed in this company!

Let me tell you something: Martin is ripping people off with their mid-shelf and lower end guitars. WAY over priced, and FOR those high prices, they literally suck when compared to what other companies are now offering for quite a bit less money. Buy a new $4500 Martin, and ya get cheap-shit plastic nut, saddle, and slotted pins. Then ya have to pay even more money to replace all those cheap plastic parts with real bone, and have the bridge itself slotted and use solid pins to drastically improve the tone, volume, and sustain of those Martins. Buy from other companies that charge FAR less and get REAL bone nut, saddle, solid pins and slotted bridge. So stop waving your pom poms for Martin like some jr high school cheerleader. ME: accomplished guitarist who gigged all over east/central Florida for many many years. I DO know what I'm talking about. We are truly living in the golden age of luthierie right now.......and Martin is way off the mark.
