Larry Lewinsohn if stating the fact that America is supporting the colonization of Palestine and the ethnic cleansing of its people by giving money to the Israeli government is anti Semitic then you’re simply weaponizing the term. She is being critical of your governments blind support of a genocide and that criticism has nothing to do with hating Jews.

I think in this case the disdain directed at Pelosi in the comments is pretty misguided. I think calling out Omar's turn of phrase ("all about the Benjamin's"? come on) allowed Omar to clarify, and show that she's capable of self-reflection and apologizing without going back on her criticism of Israel. That's a good thing. And Pelosi is a politically very very smart person.

Edit: I actually agree with her statements about lobbyists, my point is that a lot of people construed her statements as anti-Semitic (I do not, for the record). She acknowledged that a lot of the backlash was bullshit and distracting without dismissing people who were concerned.

There's a difference between being offended and being harmed. It's relevant to know that someone is offended, but offense in itself isn't an argument.
Sometimes, people are offended because they misunderstood or misconstrued a statement. Other times, they are offended by facts or a perspective that should be addressed.

There is no excuse for Israeli snipers to shoot at toddlers, or for soldiers to block, physically harrass or obstruct CLEARLY MARKED first responders responding to civilians wounded by gunfire.

My home, my state, sent her to Congress. Those who see this amazing woman as an antisemitic, dont understand the meaning behind the word. She is not. Fighting for a two-state solution is not antisemitism. That is a recognition on her part both states have the right to exist, and so attacking her being antisemitic is simply backwards discrimination against her. Cherry picking comments and making up crap to try and put a label on someone whom they just hate, most likely because of her faith and because she is an immigrant. Calling out an Israel lobby such as AIPAC is not anti-Semitic any more than condemning the Saudis for their wars is anti-Muslim. If I call out the NRA does that make me anti-old-white-guy? I am pro-Israel. My daughter is studying at the University of Tel Aviv and is an Israeli citizen (and a US and Canadian citizen) and her name is Shoshana. Omar is right but does have an aggressive way of wording her position at times. I do not agree with her on every detail but I respect her and her position of debating U.S. policy toward Israel. That is fair. We send millions of dollars a day to Israel which has universal healthcare yet we cannot afford it? This is a legitimate debate.
