That's pretty common. My biggest tip of BMT if you wanna make it through is DO NOT get injured. If you do, you basically have to suck it up unless it's life threatening. I know a lot of people that had shin splints and I'm pretty sure I had a bit of that myself but my main tip is that you have to have good form when running and don't do that little runners jog people do to fake running. That's what causes a lot of impact because you're not transferring all that weight. You're basically stomping the ground with all your weight.
Durgalur Jay That sucks man, I remember when I went about a year ago and had stress fractures and shin splints, I just sucked it up, crazy how if I didn't I wouldn't have made it. Best of luck to you though!
I remember when I went through I developed a horribly agonizing shin splint and sucked it up for a good 2 weeks until it finally went away. I'm glad I didn't go to medical because I didn't know you could get discharged for it

He's wearing Nike Air Maxes in this Video but aren't really running shoes in my opinion. They fit you at BMT for shoes that fit your foot if you don't bring shoes that are correct to BMT so go to a shoe store specifically a running shoe store and get fitted according to your foot.

Now I am looking at videos of how to run properly and breath properly because I am a noob at this but I am doing better each day. Doing interval training for starters until I can run that mile and a half easily.
I went in Oct, we barley ran maybe twice a week, once we didn't run at all. I went from running 8:43 to roughly 8:50...I stayed the same basically. Also got warhawk
The only think im confident on for when I want to join the academy is the mile run. In my 8th grade year. I was doing 7:15 minutes for my mile run. That was my fastest time. My sleepwear was 7:30.
That gym looks awesome. I train primarily with calisthenics (with gymnastics stuff thrown in) for upper body and squats and deadlifts for lower body, and that gym looks like it has everything I need. Edit: didn't see the rings at 1:24 before I made this comment lol

It looked like you used a sit-up bar to hold down your feet during sit-ups. Can a sit-up bar be used? If so can the type that hooks on a door be used? My son is getting ready to do his test.
I'm way late but for anyone who looks at this in the future. Yes, a bar is allowed. Someone can hold you feet as well if you don't have a bar. I'm 99.9999% sure of this, although it doesn't say so explicitly in the PDF instructions for USAFA, the image does have the test administrator holding the tester's feet.

You guys find out your MOS during DEP? I'm in the middle of enlisting in the Navy; my scores are really high on the ASVAB so I just need to take one more test (NAPT). tbqh I'm surprised they included most of those pull ups. Some kipping from your leg plus doing the head tilt to help get chin over the bar. I'm not hating at all - my own form (as could all of us) could probably use some work. I'm just kinda surprised they aren't more strict.

The average for a male is a 68 for the basketball throw, 13 pull-ups, 8.7 second shuttle-run, 81 modified sit-ups, 61 push ups, and a 6:31 mile. For females it's 42 for the throw, 4 pull-ups, 28 second flexed arm-hang, 9.6 second shuttle, 80 modified sit-ups, 41 push-ups, and a 7:38 mile run. In order to get into the academy you need to first apply (obviously), but the application isn't like normal college applications. You need many steps including interviews from your ALO, congressional nomination, and the CFA (what is in this video). Good work! This is not the Academy PT test though, this is the test to get into the Academy. The Academy PT test for men is pullups, long jump, situps, pushups, and a 600 yard run.

33 push-ups is the minimum, so you should be fine. You will be doing PT 6 days a week, so everything should take care of itself.

Haha yeah in the candidate's booklet they state you have to have a parallel chin fully over the bar and be told to go back down.

I think he was using the situp bar to hold his feet, and you're allowed to have someone hold them.

nope. It is 10 times easier. Its just pushups, situps and run just like the normal air force pt test.
