Found these guys while searching for the classic occult rock band Coven. I really loved what I heard. I love how Blood Ceremony are kind of like a cross between Coven, Black Sabbath, and Jethro Tull, and an awesome one at that. At first I wished the vocalist, Alia, I think her name is, had a more theatrical vocal range like Jinx Dawson of the aforementioned Coven. But Alia sings with a passion and her voice has a haunting quality that perfectly fits the music. And her flute playing is just, ah, I can't even describe how much I love the presense of the flute and how well Alia plays it! So I went nuts and ordered all their albums at once. And I do not regret it one bit! And the mystical occult lyrics don't hurt either. Hope to catch them in concert one day.
My favorite retro/vintage Occult band. Video even has a bit of Kenneth Anger's - Lucifer Rising vibe to it. There is a definite albeit underlying power to their music. For some reason, this is the kind of sound I imagine Charlie Manson's crew listened to as they drove around L.A. ; )
Are you inside my head?? This was my thoughts as I first discovered this band through this very video. Their guitarist, Sean, seem to be a extremely well read and highly talented musician, he writes most of their stuff. Imo they are without doubt the greatest band of the 21st century!
The music is quite light in comparison to most metal songs from an instrumental point of view, IMO. Yet it has some kind of underlying evil wickedness thats kind of scary. Totally like it.
This very video was my first encounter with Blood Ceremony. I already knew before the minute was passed that this was a properly good band. Now they are my very favourite, passed by Zeppelin and Sabbath. Blood Ceremony is just the best, and their new album shows that the old ways remain. Not even Phil Collins or Ian Anderson can say that. FYI, RökFlöte does not mean "rock flute" in old norse, it means "smoke cream". Smoke as in smoke, and cream like in fat milk. I think Ian spent all his remaining genius on Thick As A Brick, and lost his marbles after that. What kind of rubbish twat would go from making the most brilliant British prog to pure terror against nature (salmon farming)? No, I am not pushing any political views here, it's just facts. Salmon farming is the most threatening form of agriculture man has ever done. Forget farting cows and Burmese opium, salmon farming can literally destroy fishing (which is already on the edge in regards to how much they can harvest). Also, it would leave people like Eric Clapton and I to quit flyfishing, which is a very refined and cultural pass time, kinda like golf, but for intelligent rich people. (This is why Richard Hammond has taken up golf, he clearly isn't very intelligent, based on the fact he's never owned an Alfa Romeo, and he thinks prog rock is bollocks). No, this is it. Blood Ceremony has absolutely got it. The world needs Blood Ceremony to guide it back to the old days. Back when proper guys like G.E.M. Skues (some British victorian flyfishing bloke you never heard of), Knut Hamsun (a Norwegian proto-Hemingway, or rather Hemingwaywas a post-Hamsun), and Aleister Crowley were around to teach us interesting things and inspire us to proper manners and proper life. Much love from Norway. Blood Ceremony is the fucking best! ❤ All hail Alia, Sean, Lucas and Michael. They are absolutely Gods!
Great band. Saw them live several years ago, might have been with the amazing Jex Thoth, but I'm not quite sure. Anyway, talked to them after the show, really cool people.
Yeah, the flute is very late 60s/early 70s motif. Moody Blues (Search for the Missing Chord/Days of Future Past), Mamas and the Papas (California Dreaming), Jethro Tull. I haven't really heard much Jethro Tull except the main two or three radio hits, do they use the flute in alot of stuff? Im mainly a guitar player but mess with low whistles, tin whistles, flutes etc. A newer Celtic rock band that uses wind instruments that's pretty good is Eluveitie (check out Call of the Mountains, King, Omnos, Rose for Epona or anything with Anna Murphy before she left), that entire subculture of paganish tradition instrument stuff (either rock or pagan fantasy type stuff) is pretty cool (Wardruna, Daenomia Nymph etc), alot of Hurry Gurdy, Tagelharpa, Low whistle/tin whistle/flute, frame drum/bodroun etc
Great video, saw them a few months back with Kylesa and they kicked ass. The Eldritch Dark is my favorite album so far this year and maybe of the past 4-5 years, it is that good. Hope they come back to the South. And just for the record, Jethro Tull is not a "he" its a "them" as in band. Secondly, just because there is a flute, it isn't Tull. I hear more Black Widow and Coven influence than Tull. You all should look into late 60s & early 70s progressive occult rock - some wild and cool stuff.
It is very rare for a band to release multiple albums and for me to enjoy each one in its entirety without skipping any tracks. If anything I'd hit repeat on select tracks. Especially Ballad of the Weird Sisters! That one is always welcome.
Dgbelcher 67 Indeed. I was trying to figure out which Sabbath riff had been lifted there! Just a brief nod of respect though, not like the whole song is built upon it.
@@toot1231 I came back to this song and saw my comment, I know I'm extremely late. But for more of this style of music check out In Solitude, Lucifer, Ghost, All Them Witches, Jess And The Ancient Ones, Roky Erickson, Mount Salem, Brimstone Coven...
@@toot1231 I saw them live last year, the crowd weren't too impressed as they were supporting Ghost. I loved them. I actually argued with a dude in the crowd who boo'd them, lol. But yea, love em.
the drummer was my music teacher
:O ¿Carrillo?
wooooooooooooooooooooooow.
the flute player is my lecturer
holy shit! that's awesome! :D
u r awesome dude , i want to be your friend

When I discovered Coven I thought the singer is from Jefferson Aeroplane
Was lucky to see both bands recently! Definitly the same vibe
This band is beyond awesome. I can’t believe I haven’t heard from them before.
This is one of the greatest bands currently working. We need a new album...
The Eldritch Dark as a whole was one of the best doom metal releases of 2013!!
Shes so beautiful
An awesome song! Just fell in love with that witch.
God damn this is some of the best music I've ever heard

This isn't metal.. Occult rock
@@MarcHoyland Who gives a shit if it is metal or rock, it kicks ass
Ita probably even better live. Vocala and Guitars would sould better cranked up and more raw
@@nicholasbrown4109 I know. There will always be "this is not metal" annoying elitist rearing his/her head.
Its not light compared to 70s metal
Suena genial esa combinación de flauta, batería, guitarra y bajo.
oh man... how have i never heard these guys before?! this is fucking brilliant in every way imaginable!
I'm glad I found them too. The Eldritch Dark is such a killer album.
For me the same today 2022 06
well well well.
has 60,s psychedelic rock been born again?
robot x625 This band has been on since the 60s
Oh, definetly! Jess & The Ancient Ones are amazing. The Devil's Blood are absolutely mind blowing, Jex Thoth is good, too!
@@patrickconrad5318 check out Angels Necropolis by Year Of The Goat.
Just saw them live two nights ago. This was the second song on the playlist. An incredible show!
I can honestly say that the people who vote this a thumbs down have no idea as to what great music/artistry is.
Dopethrone!

Oh man… I just discovered them and it’s like when I discovered Ghost. I’m instantly obsessed!
holyyyyyy freat, the flute's witch and his disciples, Blood Ceremony mastres of occult rock and 70's stoner rock/metal revival.
The band, the song and the video have a 70s occult explotitation film vibe. I like it.
Ian Anderson would be proud
Love your comment ♥

Muy pagano, muy Black Sabbath, muy Jethro Tul, muy Coven Witchcraft. Buena atmósfera

extremely gorgeous music

Ain't heard the flute in rock since Tull! damn good job!
This is so awesome.
*LONG LIVE THIS KIND OF BANDS WHO BRING THE SWEET 70'S TO US!*
I love this band, I love their sound and I love Alia. Here's hoping 2014 is even more successful for them than 2013!
I'd follow you anywhere.
Bang-up album in my collection, thanks for vid.

Descobri essa banda massa por agora muito boa recomendo.
This is great! Glad I found this.
Thank you Junction Craft Brewing! Awesome
Awesome
Combine the DNA Strands of Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, and Lord Summerisle, you'd get Blood Ceremony.
Anyone noticed that Lil Nas X literally copied the flute intro in Industry Baby?
Everybody copies everybody
Really great stuff. Same sort of style as the devils blood.
+toot1231 Chicks like me?

hmm... I like it!! The flute sounds good, and the vocals match the style!
Boniteza!!!!
Excellent sound, it reminds me of Sabbath, Tull and Renaissance
Jethro Tull meets Jefferson Airplane meets Blue Oyster Cult with Black Sabbath riffs! Love it!
And definitely Black Widow
Don't forget SATAN !!
Great great song!
Reminds me of Rush, especially The Temples of Syrinx.
It really does
Except that the vocals aren't as high-pitched as Geddy's.
This band is so good!!!
YES
excellent
badass song
Excellent
I looooove it.
Canadian Jethro Tull x Jefferson Airplane. Sign me up!
+Bunny Commando or Coven
+FUZZMAN
yessssssssssssss.
but coven was much more better, i think.
Coven had more jazzy elements in their music, as well as some blues-iness aswell, from Black Sabbath to Lost Without a Trace.
oh.
i wish i could hear more words from you .
you understand music so much better than me.
robot x625
...I didn't mean to be rude
Love this! \m/
Nice. Just discovered this. What was that drummer smokin?
Just popping in to note that Kenneth Anger is still alive. Somehow.
and we still rise.........
YES!!!
I definitely didn't see this coming...
This was sampled by lil Nas x and Jake Harlow song Industry Baby
i like how they make the video look really old at the start.
muito bom
great video great great sound
I dig it! love Jethro Tull too and takes me back to the 60s rock
Thanks God!🖤🤘
shit like this has continued to be around since the late 60's and 70's, friend. it may be having a sort of reawakening, but it's not a "trend".
É o Jethro tull do século 21, a música é muito boa
Amazing song!!!
excellente gran banda rescatan ese sonido setentero ke me apasiona yeahh+++pura magia+++
Alia O'Brien ♥
Just bought the album. I would be listening to it now if I didn't have work in a few minutes.
great band
I could fuck with this.
wickerman vibes.. the original of course
Is this Blood Ceremony's first music video? If so, this is a good start for the style of music videos they're going for.
I dig your lord summerisle song huge wickerman fan but gunna state the obvious HOLY JETHRO TULL
jethro and coven and stuff. cool
Reformation of Coven! That flute tho! So much in love! make your way to denmark and ill sacrifice myself to the bringer of doom and you
