      Seriously, I don't think even the inklings of what he was to pursue so much later, would have occurred to him here. The circumstances of his turning, was an accumulation of events over time, yes, but none of them had taken place by this early juncture.

    The moment admiral Adama heard about the press's presence, he knew he fell into Roslin's trap. Because even if he does manage to arrest Roslin, the whole fleet would know. And to the civilians, it would appear that he is staging a coup in response to Roslin's actions, which was in the greater interest of the humanity, which is mostly made up of civilians. That's why he just hung up.

    To be fair I don't think what Adama said was problematic at all. She DID all that VERY dangerous and questionable acts against her military advisors during military operation, and the only military force they have left. Even if they heard every conversation they had so what, it is clear that it gave him no option other than push her away from seat of power. Only thing that kept her in power during this dire time was Adama thought it was best thing to do for the people. If she does indeed pose a military threat to the people, he should remove her and do a new election.

    I love the series, but it's always been difficult for me to believe roslin and adama who are realists, would give serious weight to things like religion and prophecy. In Gaius' trial, she's talking about visions like they are matter of fact and people should believe her without question, never acknowledging how crazy it all sounds.

    • @boiledelephant
      @boiledelephant 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Part of the series' purpose was as a commentary and retrospective on US foreign policy and military/political climate following 9/11. A particularly surreal and disturbing aspect of that climate was it being charged with religious sentiment on both sides; more generally, American and Middle Eastern cultures are steeped in religious belief and tradition which is taken surprisingly seriously and literally in times of stress or conflict. Atheist and secular US citizens try not to examine this too closely, because it's so uncomfortable and un-modern. But it's there. Evolutionary psychology, anthropology and sociobiology offer straightforward explanations for why we aren't rid of religious fervour and irrational beliefs, despite being otherwise very intellectually developed: we're hardwired to have a predisposition towards religious and mystical thinking, because it served a vital role in facilitating the development of human co-operation networks and civilizations. The people in BSG are in a fictional future/past setting, but they are still very identifiably humans just like us, with close cultural, psychological and philosophical proximities to us. It follows that wherever humans went in the future, they would take this unfortunate evolutionary baggage with them, even to the stars. One of the most interesting and under-appreciated themes the show explored is what would happen to this inappropriate and dislocated instinct in the distinctly rational and atheistic setting of a technological spacefaring culture. We cannot suppose that it would disappear; all available evidence suggests that wherever we go, the religious impulse will latch onto whatever is available to articulate itself anew.

    The president made a bad decision to circumvent the agreement. She forced Adama into a situation where he had no good option.
    Lee was acting according to what he thought right, but executed that poorly.
    All this under the backdrop of the survivors of Humanity cooped up in spaceships fleeing an enemy.
    Tough situation.

      I really like Tigh as a character. He has a very stable conviction and ability to operate under pressure right up until the part he start to hear music in the walls. Never have I seen a character so strong making such difficult decisions before (such as jettisoning crew out to save fuel lines) and performs so well and balanced. Imo Adama couldnt have done half the things he could do without Tigh on his side.

    There is such a thing of crossing the line. We are seeing it being played out in real life. It has to do with and inside our own government. Watch what happens after November 3rd and if it doesn't happen then. Watch what happens in April od 2021. This one episode was very intense and deals with the human race survival. What is happening today. Deals with the survival of our country.
