Hola, I've had bad luck with the weather going to the sound, how do you select a day to go out there? :) thanks!

Sorry to hear that! I personally don’t care about temperature or rain, I watch out for high winds and fog because those conditions can be dangerous. I have pretty good luck with an app called PredictWind for predicting wind direction and speed. West Point has a weather buoy that’s worth checking too. I avoid north winds over 10 mph but generally don’t mid south, east or west winds. I also definitely would not go out in any conditions without a semi dry suit this time of year (October-May generally).
Hope that helps! Good luck out there!

Thank you for posting the video. How deep is there? And how far you are from the shore?

It’s sort of an underwater hill or mountain. It drops off sharply on the north side. At the top of the point it’s around 30-40 feet but if you drift 100+ feet north you’ll be in 100+ fow pretty quickly. The south side of the point is a much more gradual drop off. So you might have better luck with an incoming tide.
No need to go out that far. I was probably 1/4 mile out, but that’s the furthest you would ever need to go.

@@kayakfishingpnw I wonder if the lingcod there as well. Trying to find some spot where I can go on my inflatable once season will open.

I my experience, no. There isn’t a lot of structure there. For lingcod, I look for rocky shoreline, submerged rocks, reefs, or wrecks. You should be able to find that type of bottom in your area with a good bathymetry map.

@@kayakfishingpnw do you mind to share where you launch? The parking lot close to the lighthouse requires some type of validation by the park office.

Usually shilshole. I don’t mind covering a lot of water though. That day I probably put in ten miles with commuting and resetting my drift.

Fun fishing, I like Bremerton for big Rock sole and Starry Flounder.

Thanks for the tip! I was considering Bremerton or the Nisqually delta for starry flounder. I’ve never caught one.
