This is one of the reasons that I am most happy about the world we live in. We can have great drummers play their way and creating a drum library of THEIR sounds, that then we can use them in home recordings or demos... Every drummer that MixWave has done its so top tier, I am just sad of all the drummers I wish could have gotten this treatment, some examples, The Rev, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Joey Jordison, in the case of drummers who had passed, and I wish it continues to expand with drummers like Tomas Haake, Austin Archey, Brann Dailor, Chris Adler, Mike Portnoy, Travis Barker, Aric Improta with all his wacky effects captured, Lars Ulrich, there is so many.
Can't believe you guys got Jay to track his drums. the value in having all these snares and variations to play with is an absolute dream. Thanks Mixwave & Jay :D buying this ASAP.
I just bought this thing last night. Ive tried to mess with it but it keeps crashing my computer. Never had this issue until I installed this. I really wish there were a trial period offered. I dont think id have spent over 100 dollars.
Can someone please tell me, someone with an alesis nitro kit and a standard laptop, where to even begin to get my kit to sound like this? I understand I'd need a daw and to buy the pack obviously but are there other things too? completely clueless and would love help or product recommendations
It wouldn't be as complicated as you might think unless you want/need a complex setup. This along with a number of other really great drum libraries and plenty of other things do not require the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt but instead are capable of running with the free player version of Kontakt. Therefore so long as your kit hooks up to your audio interface or directly to your computer then you'll only need to purchase the library from Mixwave. I'm pretty sure that the Nitro when plugged in via USB will show up and work as a MIDI controller, to achieve the best experience though you To get your Alesis kit to sound like the examples in the video (provided that the sounds used in the video are included as presets/snapshots) all you'd need to is hook up your kit to trigger the sounds from the standalone application version of Kontakt player (or the full version should you decide that you wanted to go for the full version), no other application(s) required. Here is someone that goes through hooking up their kit to Kontakt in order to use it for the GetGood Drum options but instead just put Mixwave in place of GGD...the process is the same just a different instrument multi within Native Instruments Kontakt player the only difference watch?v=L5RA4cd1Qxk However, if you want to multi-track using your Alesis kit then of course you'd need to be using the applicable plugin format of Kontakt with this library loaded using the multiple outputs to route each kit piece's close microphone(s) (when applicable) along with the overheads, room (or ambient mics) plus any other part of the library's internal routing and busing which if applicable will show up when it comes to routing each signal from Kontakt onto its own track inside of your DAW of choice, once you've done it once then you can save it as a template so that whenever you wish to load things up ready to go it'll only take seconds. The DAW you chose has everything to do with personal preference/workflow that suits you best rather than there being any best option. Personally, I tend to use Avid's Pro Tools for the majority of engineering/multi-tracking, editing and mixing due to it being what I'm familiar with/have used since working ITB and along with that I really like and have for aeons now it seems used Ableton's Live when I'm wanting something different and offers me a more creative way to quickly lay ideas down, this is mostly when working on my own material rather than engineering other's, I find I get a lot of mileage from that combination. That being said if I were just starting from scratch DAW-wise and on PC then I'd definitely go for Cockos' REAPER, it's as simple or as deep and complicated as you'd ever want or need it to be, It'd be a no-brainer really. In case you've not had anyone reach out on any other platforms or forums where you've asked to help give you the answers/information plus suggestions that you want/need plus are looking for then I hope that this helps. It always baffles me when someone has requested help but not a soul has taken the time to try to reach out. All the best your way, I do sincerely hope that it helps you in case you've not been able to start playing with virtual instruments like Kontakt with it in order to achieve the exact sounds you like/want instead of the kit sounds from the module/brain or having to load in your own on USB, this method will open up as many drum sounds and options as you'll ever want. Can't wait to pick this up. Hoping MixWave can get a hold of Danny Carrey and Eloy.
cool stuff, please do a nate smith version ;)
Need Matt Greiner 🔥
DrumForge did a Matt Greiner drum library pretty recently.
Mixwave: Lars Ulrich next. You can't go any higher than that at that point
Tomas Haake.
