Tipu Khan Masjid was built by Late Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur, a high ranking official, adviser and taught Horse Riding to H.E.H The Nizam VI Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Bahadur. This Masjid was built in the year 1909 A.D. Late Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur also built 5 Mosques, Madarsas in Hyderabad/Secunderabad and the first Travellers Waiting Rooms near Nampally Railway Station known as "Tipu Khan Saraai" for free stay and food to any traveller for 3 days irrespective of caste or community. He was one of very few Noblemen who never aspired for name and fame but donated generously to the poor and needy masses.

Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur constructed a Watch Tower at Khairtabad in Hyderabad city known as ‘TIPU’S LOOKOUT’ on an elevated hill for watching movement of travellers to the city. It also used for enemy approaching towards city side. It was one of the beautiful architechural marvel from where the whole city and outskirts can be viewed as well as the Golconda fort was also seen.
The real name of Nampally Saraai is Tipu Khan Saraai, constructed by Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur, he constructed 5 Masjids in Hyderabad City with Deeni Madrassas of free education, Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur was a Equestrian Legend and taught Horse riding to Nizam-ul-Mulk Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Bahadur, Asaf Jah VI.
One of his great grandson is Wajahat Ahmed Khan, Life Member - Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) | Member - Telangana State Equestrian Association (TSEA)
