- Drayton manors brand NEW roller coaster has OPENED! The wave is a transformation of the previous Shockwave... BUT have Drayton Manor RUINED what was a iconic ride?! The Wave includes sit down trains with lap bars AND shin pad restrains... The ride now has a 1.2m height restriction along with new effects, theming including a bill board and entrance, and yellow trains... which may look like another yellowy ride in the UK (The Smiler Alton Towers) The wave operates on a one train service. The wave is just one of drayton manors new roller coasters for 2024 including there brand new intamin western theme roller coaster opening this summer! Drayton manors new roller coaster will include a lift hill, launch and switch tracks! The new investment comes after the purchase of the park from the looping group and since recent additions such as vikings, adventure cove, and the removal of pandemonium, apocalypse, and the iconic G force at drayton manor!
Shockwave at drayon manor opened in 1994 and has been converted to sit down for 2024! 30 years on!
Why has Drayton manor removed apocalypse - high cost to repair the ride and the new family direction!
Why did drayton manor get rid of g-force - the parts to fix the coaster had become high in price and was not financially viable to continue its operation.
Why did drayton manor remove pandemonium - for a new roller coaster currently being constructed!

When I was there, the operations were slower than when it was stand up and was down almost the entire day 😢

@@ThemeParkEnthusiast To be fair to the ONE train they have, it’s really comfortable, smooth and the dispatch is a lot quieter 🤷♂️

It’s definitely an improvement as sad as it is that the stand up element has gone but it was such an uncomfortable ride and in some ways it was rather get a sit down train or get rid of it all together which would have been a shame especially considering the history of it
110% the sit down trains seem to have made the ride smoother according to riders so at least shockwave or the wave has a long future at drayton and will be interesting ride sitting down!
actually from videos its smoother got more air time more thrilling and the breaks arent anywhere near as bad as shockwave so its actually been improved than ruined
I live quite far from Drayton Manor, but i'm glad to have ridden Shockwave a couple of times in my life, thankfully. I am interested to ride The Wave very soon though!

I’m so sad, I was too scared to ride this for years and when I finally did I really enjoyed it- suddenly a month later I heard the news that it’s being converted to a sit down coaster…
Oh no! Talk about unlucky! Apparently its a lot smoother and a better experience now so at least its still here for you to try out!
