Only here because I started my 1001 book travel and I need to see it, even that I don't like it! this is my 2/1001. Wish me lucky

Same. The worst film on the 1001 list is:
Showgirls (updated version given by a friend)
      Vinyl
      Blonde Cobra
I'm covering Chelsea Girls one day (from the updated version).

Imagine going to the cinema in the 1960s and paying to watch THIS.

People who watched this kind of flicks didn't had to go to the theatre. Some underground club with decent joint supply did the trick. Me thinks that you managed to surpass the wildest imaginations of the film director himself this time by suggesting the idea.

I am working my way through the completion of 6 of the 1001 books (whisky, beer, books, buildings, historical sites and movies). Having sat through the whole of this it is one of the rare occasions I have wondered why an entry was included and my conclusion is that it must be to test our stamina and discipline.

If you want a true test then I suggest to try Andy Warhol's "Sleep" as a warm up and then continue with his "Empire" . Should give a over thirteen hours of...experience.

Gracielove00 it was very influential to the underground avant-garde American scene of the 60’s along with flaming creatures and Scorpio rising

Don’t look at this as a serious movie. Think of this as just 3/4 friends fucking around. That’s how you enjoy this movie, I genuinely laughed at a few parts 💀

Remember the sixties? When you didn't need talent to be an influential artists, you just had to be the first to do something. This movie is really only proof that boomers didn't start to suck in old age; they were crap back then, too.

If you make a movie that is accessible to a larger audience that has risque content, then you're a pioneer. But if you make a poorly shot home movie, while high on speed, that's just a bunch of shots of a guy you're trying to screw, that you'll probably use to pleasure yourself later, you're not reinventing the wheel. And to release it to the public? Why??

essentially unwatchable to all but a handful of devotees of american avant-garde cinema. the film is only occasionally in focus (and never beautifully filmed, ie., it's wholly amateurish); and its spontaneously derived script is often just tedious and unremarkable, despite people claiming it's witty. while jack smith's schtick may have seemed incredibly original and perhaps even transcendental by the stultifyingly straight eisenhower era aesthetics, by today's standards, it's just campy and overly dramatized aping-- we're apt to see far more compelling gay theatre play out on the subway.
