Here in Australia, you can get an RB30 for pretty much a case of beer, an an old well known mod is to swap a RB25 head on top with RB30E N/A pistons (acl, probe, etc) which are about $60-$80 per piston. Lesser known is that the R33 head does indeed work perfectly fine, with a small modification, that I'm sure the guys could do pretty easily. I'm hoping they consider the swap, because it would become a tyre frying 5k supercar killer. Don't be afraid guys! ;)

For reference, the ACL part number is 6MKRY2799 for RB30E (non-turbo) cast pistons with moly rings. Laugh if you must, but paying less than $200 for an entire set of RB30+DET capable pistons and rings is good value to make a fast car well but affordably. Both the RB26 and RB25 (both DE R32 and DE/DET R33) have a combustion chamber volume of 62-64cc, up from the smaller original RB30E SOHC head of 56-58cc. The change of +6cc of combustion chamber volume means whilst an OEM RB30E piston/head combination would produce a compression ratio of 9.0:1, the same OEM RB30 (N/A) pistons with an DE/DET/DETT head would be lowered to a compression ratio 8.2:1, great for a safe and large boosted output. For reference, OEM RB30ET (turbo) pistons in RB30E/ET combination provides a compresson ratio of 7.8:1, which apart from being unnecessariily circa-80's, only gives a compression ratio of 7.1:1 with RB25DE/DET head combination, which would be a low compression slug with about 2 goats worth of lag. All this before anyone even looks at how many cheap factory camshaft combinations there are for the RB30DET combination (given all RB25 parts available), the many monster turbos which fit, the buttload of bolt ons for the 25 for things such as manifolds, the S13 chassis complete exhaust sets, etc. If you're clever about it, you can do it for cheap (engine ~1500, turbo, exhaust and manifolds ~1500). You can of course also just look at catalog parts for the conversion and spend a proper fortune on it, but when has anyone ever done that ;)

I've been driving a s13 since 1997 and I never thought they would become this popular. It's crazy. back in the 90's nobody thought of these as performance cars really.
Just as a recommendation: at 8:12, you guys grease your NGK spark plugs. This is unnecessary and can lead to over torquing/damaged threads. Any NGK spark plugs that are plated like those (shiny threads) do not need lube and NGK even discourages it on their site. Just a tidbit. Awesome show guys!

Hey, tip for charging completely dead batteries is to run the dimmed lights for a bit while it's charging because dead batteries form a layer of sulphur internally which means when you go to start it it'll run flat again, this just lets the sulphur react with the acid and melt away, just increases chances of your car starting
Are those backtires Goodride SA-05? I had those in my 1.6 astra and damn they sucked :D Good for drifting tho cos 2 drops of water and u do skids even if you push your car :D

For a helpful tip, liquids and metals, when you have multiple metal types they metals corrode from liquid when it sits. Not saying this is the issue of the fuel, but it is something to think about. Would also recommend getting a tube clipper. Cleaner cuts and much straighter cuts, less chance of problems. Especially with vacuum hoses this is a near must.
any decent length of time (4-6 months or more typically) sitting with E85 in a tank will do this, its because the alcohol in the petrol attracts water from the surrounding air, which corrodes your tank, and will make a horrible nasty layer of corrosion(even on aluminium fuel parts) all thru the fuel system, so you end up with a rusty tank with a layer of water in it, slightly corroded fuel lines, and rails all with flakes and rust and gunk in them. this is whats pissing off american farmers with E10 in the states that law mandated it, it keeps ruining tractors they only use during the summer, and have to do a complete fuel system cleanout after its been sitting for the winter, I think the channel elderly iron has a couple videos on it about his tractor having this problem I imagine e85 is a hell of alot worse then that.

It's worth saying, because a lot of people don't seem to realise, that fuel hose clips for carburettor cars and those for fuel-injected cars are different because on fuel-injected cars the whole fuel system is pressurised whereas on a carburettor cars it isn't. The hose clips for carburettor cars are like small jubilee clips but the ones for fuel-injected vehicles are designed to apply equal pressure all the way around the hose and prevent the pressurised fuel escaping. Fuel-injection hose clips are more expensive but if you think you can cheap out and use the other kind you're playing a dangerous game as pressurised fuel escapes in a fine mist that catches fire very easily and so you could end up losing your car, and possibly your life, if you don't use the proper fuel hose clips. I can't think how many injected cars (and other vehicles) I've seen that have had the cheaper clips used in the fuel system and EVERY SINGLE ONE has had fuel leaks, even if they were not able to be detected by the drivers, and were in real danger of going up in flames...

Hi guys, regarding the plugs of gear box & diff, i'd suggest using an impact gun if not as a 2nd solution you could just flip the car on one side(i.e. 45 degrees) and support the other side and you can do this job as well among others(used this method in the past when had also to spray paint the underbody).
I have worked for a 4x4 fuel tank manufacturer in Melbourne for the last 5.5 years, we regularly get old fuel tanks back that have been sitting with fuel in them for quite some time and I have yet to see any with fuel as dirty as what came out of that filter. Seems to me that the tank could do with a good steam clean to get any dirt and/or rust out.
Man I love s13 fastbacks, I was bent on getting one years ago as my first 240 but got a sweat deal on a s14 kouki but after watching I want to get a fasty to now. True story on those diff bolts, spent half a day removing my own diff and opening it up.

Hey, tip for charging completely dead batteries is to run the dimmed lights for a bit while it's charging because dead batteries form a layer of sulphur internally which means when you go to start it it'll run flat again, this just lets the sulphur react with the acid and melt away, just increases chances of your car starting

For a helpful tip, liquids and metals, when you have multiple metal types they metals corrode from liquid when it sits. Not saying this is the issue of the fuel, but it is something to think about.
Would also recommend getting a tube clipper. Cleaner cuts and much straighter cuts, less chance of problems. Especially with vacuum hoses this is a near must.
any decent length of time (4-6 months or more typically) sitting with E85 in a tank will do this, its because the alcohol in the petrol attracts water from the surrounding air, which corrodes your tank, and will make a horrible nasty layer of corrosion(even on aluminium fuel parts) all thru the fuel system, so you end up with a rusty tank with a layer of water in it, slightly corroded fuel lines, and rails all with flakes and rust and gunk in them.
this is whats pissing off american farmers with E10 in the states that law mandated it, it keeps ruining tractors they only use during the summer, and have to do a complete fuel system cleanout after its been sitting for the winter, I think the channel elderly iron has a couple videos on it about his tractor having this problem

It's worth saying, because a lot of people don't seem to realise, that fuel hose clips for carburettor cars and those for fuel-injected cars are different because on fuel-injected cars the whole fuel system is pressurised whereas on a carburettor cars it isn't. The hose clips for carburettor cars are like small jubilee clips but the ones for fuel-injected vehicles are designed to apply equal pressure all the way around the hose and prevent the pressurised fuel escaping. Fuel-injection hose clips are more expensive but if you think you can cheap out and use the other kind you're playing a dangerous game as pressurised fuel escapes in a fine mist that catches fire very easily and so you could end up losing your car, and possibly your life, if you don't use the proper fuel hose clips. I can't think how many injected cars (and other vehicles) I've seen that have had the cheaper clips used in the fuel system and EVERY SINGLE ONE has had fuel leaks, even if they were not able to be detected by the drivers, and were in real danger of going up in flames...

Hi guys, regarding the plugs of gear box & diff, i'd suggest using an impact gun if not as a 2nd solution you could just flip the car on one side(i.e. 45 degrees) and support the other side and you can do this job as well among others(used this method in the past when had also to spray paint the underbody).

I have worked for a 4x4 fuel tank manufacturer in Melbourne for the last 5.5 years, we regularly get old fuel tanks back that have been sitting with fuel in them for quite some time and I have yet to see any with fuel as dirty as what came out of that filter.
Seems to me that the tank could do with a good steam clean to get any dirt and/or rust out.
That 180 is a deathtrap, and completely impractical. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
