Tremendous arm power and release. If you compare Ulf Timmerman (over 23 M) bringing his hips through the final motions of the throw, the difference in technique is notable. Great potential if he stays healthy. Could be over 23 M also consistently.
Looks like he wasnt ready since there are 7 others ahead of him this year. To put things in perspective, Storl's throw this year is about what Randy Matson threw 50 years ago. Storl is a great shot putter but not a cut above the other elite throwers out there today. Personally I think Ryan Crouser will break the world record next year, and Tom Walsh will be right behind him.
Yup, Matson was the best ever for what he did at 19 years old. Saw him at Fresno Relays 1966 warming up with 65 foot standing throes. Perry Obrien's eyes were like pie plates.
I feel like if he got his right hip all the way through he could gain 2-3 more ft. When I first started shot, I wasn't putting my hip through, and now that I do, I throw a lot farther
+Arne Vanderborght the farthest official throw in the world is at 81 feet by Michael Carter. Mr. Carter was only 6'2 by the way and was on a full ride scholar ship too SMU for both football and shot. He is also a 3* super bowl champion... :-/
