    I think this is the best video on WordPress migration. I want to add a few things to it. 1. For larger websites we need to use terminal and commands like rsync, scp dump etc to do file transfer, database import etc jobs easily. 2. We can initiate WordPress installation in wp-toolkit and specify db prefix, password etc in the destination. 3. Testing new WordPress installation can be done by modifying hosts file on local PC rather than changing DNS records.

    One of the best tutorial to migrate WP site manual. I like the presenter's method talking slowly, softly remaining to the point and the best use is the Checklist. Way better than those screaming and shouting and talking too fast presenters. Thank you so much!

    This has to be the best ever instructional video on how to migrate a WordPress site. That checklist is invaluable. I just tried this migrating from my localhost on my computer and then installing on my home server and it worked perfectly. 👍

    • @guidepawn

      @@rahuldinesh2840 it can be the database auto created from previous wp installation. you can refer this tutorial at 2:40 step 2 to check config.php the actual database to use for your website.

    What about large databse ? Would be great if you can include that in the tutorial. My host only allows max 250mb sql file and my file 375mb

    • @guidepawn
      @guidepawn  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi friend, if your database is too large, try to use the compression option when exporting to gzip file & try again. If still too large, export only a few tables at a time. If still too large for that, then you upload the database into the website directory & then import it through the command line or use database backup tool. Another way is to increase your upload limits & execution times on your new host, if you have access to that. The worse case, you have to ask your webhost to do for you, because some restrictions settings controlled by the webhost :)
      I suggest you keep all your old site files as a backup & check everything on your new site to make sure everything is ok.

    I dont understand the last part, for me i jst want to move a site and its file from a host to another host, so i dont understand urs, cuz its like u re moving from diffrent domain, mine is same domain..so do i still need to do the last part, the migrate plugin?

    • @guidepawn
      @guidepawn  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi friend, if you are using exactly the same domain name, then you can skip the last step. The search & replace step is for those who use different domain name.

    What if you don't have access to access to DB since my old hosting has exphas been already expired. What I only have now are the files from files manager. Can i still migrate my file content. Thank you

    • @guidepawn
      @guidepawn  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the easiest way for your case is to use a plugin to migrate if you don't have access to expired DB. Or you can try to contact your expired hosting to help to get the DB for you.
      There are ways to do manually, such as using adminer, etc. But to much work :)

    How would one migrate a live site to a different server? You're using a second new domain in this example. How would one move to a new hosting provider with the least amount of / zero downtime for a live site?

    • @guidepawn
      @guidepawn  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, if you want to migrate in the fastest time, I would suggest using a plugin. Because it will help you to do all the manual work automatically & faster.

    • @SparxNet
      @SparxNet 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@guidepawn That will take care of transferring the files. It won't take care of changing DNS / authoritative Name Servers etc. The techniques there are quite separate from the scenario where one is transferring from one domain to another. That's the advice I'm looking for especially if you want as little or zero downtime for a client's actively in use site. Cheers!

    • @guidepawn
      @guidepawn  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right, website migration only transfer your website files to other host. For nameserver, you need to update in your domain provider to point to the new host

      @localkl normally, after migration, I will check all website pages using mobile from time to time. If everything looks good, then we can close the case.

    Great content, thank you.
    In my case I have a website associated with two subdomains and I cannot lose none of them. One of the subdomains' WordPress site is even more important than the WordPress site on the main domain, as the subdomain has much more organic traffic on Google than the main domain. So, I would like to know how to proceed in order to move the WordPress site on the subdomain from my old host to SiteGround? I am guessing that if I change the nameservers on my domain registrar all of my sites on the old host will no longer be live, so how to proceed in order to move the websites of the main domain and both the websites of the subdomains to SiteGround?

    • @guidepawn
      @guidepawn  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are you still using the same domain name if you change your hosting? There will be no issue if you still use the same domain name to migrate to any host. Unless if you use different domain name, then you have to do redirect old domain to new domain.

      Please allow me to ask another question. On the video, in the time step 8:33 when you do import the file into the database, there is a note that indicates Max file size of 120Mb. What if my file size is bigger?

    • @guidepawn
      @guidepawn  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AderitoGentil if your database too large, try use the compression option into zip & try again. If still too large, export only few tables at a time. If still too large for that, then you upload the database into website directorie & then import through the command line or use database backup tool. If I create a Website with Premium Themes or Plugins like Woodmart, Divi, Revolution Slider, and Visual Composer then What will happen? Is it possible to transfer? My question is that Most of the Premium themes is used for single user and when I transfer my created Website with The Premium theme then what will happen when I transfer to another server and domain? Because after completing the transformation we are two users of one Premium theme? Hope you Understand Sir. Would you please help me to clear the fact?

Just remember to change your domain nameserver to point to the new hosting after your migrate your files. Thanks
