The energy that Tosin splats. He really enjoys the life
Na he is just happy but doesn’t mean anything try not to assume to much bro :)
Since Reflux till Animal As Leaders... i just love Tosin enthusiasm as musician☺️
I'm so glad people with insane techniques, like Tosin Abasi and Michael Angelo Batio, are teaching their stuff for free online for everyone to learn from. We are going to see some insane innovation in guitar for the next few years.
And guys like Troy Grady have taken the time to properly analyze great picking technique and understand exactly how it works, and best of all share a good amount of that knowledge for free in the Cracking The Code series here on TH-cam. That dude has done wonders to a lot of people, me included.
@@faustoorieta Yeah I forgot to mention Troy Grady. Yesterday I commented on a Michael Angelo Batio video and said that I came to his channel after watching Troy Grady's series.
You were right, look at polyphia right now
Well said from Papa Tosin.
Acknowledge that you're good or getting better, never think that you're the best, don't try to be like anyone else or doubt yourself and how far you can go, don't look down on others.
Essentially don't be a dick because you think that you're really good at playing the guitar.
Exactly. There's always an asian better than you at anything
the advice is not just valid for guitar. EVERYTHING is online.
Tosin always spits out pure gold. Be it from his guitar or his mouth 🙏
Or his guitar in the video
1:38 : Abasi plays a sick never seen before super orgasmic technical killer lick at the speed of light.
Herman Lee at 1:56: Ok...
Que chucha haces acaaaaa
As a guitarist, this is one of the best conversations that anyone who plays guitar or is thinking about taking up the guitar should listen to.
Two of my favorite contemporary guitarist humbling speaking of the accomplished players beginners mind...
As someone who can’t play the guitar, I’m finding this quite entertaining despite that fact.
Ayyyee you're the anime guy, oh wait no he has a mustache
AHhHhHhHHh I saw you on a catfish and carp vid
He’s everywhere
@@Bobo0818ml i saw him on a loud wire video and a rudy ayoub video i guess
Oh look some loser trying to make a name for himself in the comment section. Sad
Love this guys attitude towards learning, and the little line Li spit out, " create the best of you." That s pure fukkin philosophy.
A guitar podcast with Herman and the like would be epic.
Damn, that would be awesome
As someone who has very low self esteem about my guitar playing, its actually very comforting to know these guys also go through self doubt.
All guitarist that play, practice and share their stuff are amazing. It's just up to you guys and the world to make the time to discover them.
came for the selective picking, stayed for the incredible life lesson
Just like Bruce Lee quotes “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
Nice quote
Damn, that hits hard.
Wasn't expecting this life lesson to be so deep. Thanks.
Love when artists share so others can learn and build on
This made me feel better about my own skills. I have recently heard of animals as leaders and I have become a huge fan of the band and tosin abasi himself. Listening to their music makes me want to learn their music. If I can find a riff that sounds similar to what I heard and play around with it, then that's a big accomplishment for me. It's also refreshing hearing that even the greatest players out there are all learning different music together. That's the definition of "community".
This was great insight for all guitar players. I loved when they talked about how its okay to get good at what you already specialize in! Two great musical mentalities!
Can't speak for everyone else, but this is an immensely profound interview for an aspiring guitarist like myself. Thank you Herman (fellow Hong Kong guitarist!🙌🏼) and Tosin.
In case someone is wondering how the name that Tosin is mentioning 6:18 is spelled, it's Hristo Vitchev
thx alot,man
I don’t know DragonForce outside of Through the Fire and Flames, but all these videos with Herman and guests have been incredibly valuable. Loads of good info and perspectives. By the end of the videos, I’m motivated and ready to go
Such an awesome video!
Thank you for this video Dragonforce.. I am someone who thinks im not good enough in guitar.. But if I watch my old guitar videos I see my improvement has been huge over the years. I guess we all need to balance not under appreciating our talent while still longing to learn more
Thank you so much for the livestreams and the youtube videos both of you, I will be checking everything out, much love from Mexico city
Wise words from both of you. I needed to hear them. Thanks.
Exactly. Guitar Center for years every weekend and 5 to 7 hours self teaching. I still have over 70 official tabs and instructional books. I'm gettin my thump timing down pretty good. Living legends here 🤘🏾
Tosin is so humble
This video is quite inspiring.
Selective picking ..... less labor intensive! so now I can play like Tosin? ;0)
So glad to see you doing live stuff after being a fan of you for a decade. I remember you inspiring me the same way like Iron Maiden did. I used to go on the dragonforce site all the time. I was obsessed with you back in 2005. Loved that you played Ibanez. You made me want to grow my hair and self teach myself guitar. I ended up taking lessons from Matthew Mills. He also taught Jason Richardson. He’s local.
What a great convo/interview
This is the mode I appreciate from high achieving guitar players. Just being real and not trying to be a walking advertisement for their companies.
I love this , love hermans channel everything that he has been putting out there and all the comradery with other musicians is epic like just love it, friends helping friends, music giving and gaining just awesome!!! and tosin is just amazing!!!
8:51 DOn't give up but there's always someone better. PERFECT OPTIMISM, LOL.
I just woke up and was treated to one of the best life lessons a youtube video can offer.
Life isn't so bad at all.
Cheers to all guitar players!
i love tosin always smiling..
That was such a helpful and interesting discussion guys, thank you :)
I love when Tosin plays parts of songs in these videos years in advance
great, great talk!
Awesome video from two great guitarists
"Don't give up, but there's always someone better" - I wish I could go back and tell this to 22 yr old me.
Neil Peart famously after 20 years of Rush, went to have drum classes and rebuilded his playing style to become an even better player he already was.
So crazy he gets that sound hammering the key. Some powerful ass fingers
I love both these guys. Tosin, Herman...lets jam! 🐰❤️🎸🎶🤝✌️
Good lesson 👍👍☝ cool both of u
0:03 WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE 😊
Such an amazing conversation! There's so much information nowadays that it's easy to drown in it. I think it's best to concentrate on only a very few things at a time. And it's also true what Tosin said, that you should not compare yourself to some absolute guitar gods.
Wisdom has been spoken
There is absolutely a balance of ego in playing! I've always said deep down you have to understand that you are good, however all players are equal. There can even be amazing opportunities to learn from beginners!
It’s such a thin line to walk between being confident and having an ego about your playing. Improvising especially takes a lot of confidence when making choices, but that’s the beauty of taking lessons in my eyes. Keeps you humble.
Haven’t really listened to Animals As Leaders. But how cool is this guy? I mean extremely down to earth. 👍👍
The conversations is very inspiring ♥️
Oooooohhhhhh Abasi was on fireeeee
Very informative...I have thought about this type of playing where you mix legato and staccato notes and see that other players have as well. Very enjoyable video
i just imagined that i'm sitting with them in that room without get notice and i was like.. ermm..yeah...damn...truth... i agree... coz their talking is much better and catchy than my solo....
amazing wisdom
Great conversation makes for great content.
Great music conversations!
Back in the day.
We saved enough money from our allowance to buy some Video Instructions insert specials that was made by our guitar heroes at that time.
We survived the anxiety to just relies on weekly or monthly Guitar Magazines that had some nice tutorials to do things with the guitar.
I come from those days...and I feel really old these day when some great guitarists in this era uploading tutorials on TH-cam.
lol
Not many notes as the vid with Richardson, but i m definitely not complaining about this cuz i m listening to a great conversation🔥 they are saying important things 😌👌🏼
When will you have Guthrie Govan as a guest?
Guthrie would be the teacher for Herman in that case.
@@blackcitadel37 yeah I also like to see them share thoughts on the state of guitar music today that would be nice
This was so inspirational.
Very interesting episode, more of this please
Tosin soo humble
Yes! We are teachers and students simultaneously.
Keep your ears and eyes open to all Genres of Music .
I play violin and I can find this video is very helpful .
4:12 A Microagressions spoiler 2 years before the song release
At 0:10 there's another Micro-Aggressions hint as well! He only plays it for a short time, but that part shows up at 2:29 in the actual song :D
he remenbers me Living colors guys
My advice is don't be lazy learn that solo
Tosin is on a another level
Underrated since he was in Reflux but he was like one of the best guitarist in his era. Way underrated
Holy shit Tosin is good
Hey mr. herman li, make interview with power metal legends like stratovarius, helloween, symphony x, etc. 🙏
They could interview the guys from Dragonforce too.
I'll never be this good
7:06 *Yeeah!*
Good video I would like to see more lessons from other guitarists.
Don't worry in 30 years we'll all be playing like Tosin...give it time
I've been doing a simpler version of this for a while and I thought it's because im shit at alternate picking lol
I’m still disturbed by Tosin thumb
That thump part 5:20 😮😮
DragonForce hitting that road to 1M
8:12 Does Tosin talks about Misha here?
Holy crap thats pretty good
Three thump pry🔥
Music is Anarchy, in a noble way : other's are alway pushing you foreward and extend your liberty !
Wholesome shit.
Very well said, the master has failed many more times more than the beginner ever has!
anyone notice tosins how tosins thumbs bend?
Herman Li is the new Rick Beato 😃
Easy there
Don't do this
Don't give me hope
Hahah i thought the same😂
Hey it's DragonForce he does TH-cam videos now
I think if you consume a bit of Bireli Lagrene you will open your ways of playing and still be virtuoso. For me he is one of the best. I am supposing you do not know him already Herman. Sometimes getting us out of our confort zone is the best thing to do in order to improove.
This technic is used since a long in jazz by Pat Metheny
I seriously consider burning my guitars when I hear AAL.
Who is the last person Tosin mentions, in regards to contrary motion? Does any one know?
I don't even play the damn guitar and I watched it all.....lol
6:59 BEST ADVICE
These techniques remind me of learning rudiments of drums, then hybrid rudiments. Why would anyone play a cheese-ka instead of a regular alternating flam sixteenth pattern? Because you have the chops and it looks cool.
“Stevie Ray Vaughn wasn’t playing over giant steps at 300 bpm,” I mean, not as well known but he was also an amazing jazz guitar player, so he probably could have
