    • @Dr_Xyzt
      @Dr_Xyzt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Yeah. I'm guessing their threads are coarse enough, and the edge of the stud is round enough to align the nut when they shove the wheel on. However, it hella pisses me off when some tire shops put the lug nuts on super tight. 120 foot pounds is all it takes.

      Guns Cars and Digits It is not only tire shop. The authorized car dealer do that as well. you would 've think they know it better. I remember I try to break the torque for a tire put on by the dealer. And the nuts were so freaken tight I thought I was going to snap my half inch drive breaker bar. The spec. asked for 95 footlb. But I will say the guy in the shop put on at least 150 or so from his impact...

      @PeaceLoveandMolotovs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Red Lorry Yellow Lorry sure F1 wins in those categories and that’s cool if that’s what you look for in racing, but does any of that improve the quality racing? Seems it’s just created a dominating team that has entire races determined by the first corner. Even the F1 commentators are done hiding their disappointment. F1 is broken, the racing is not dynamic, and there’s little racing that even happens anymore.

      The lug nuts are glued to the wheel and the studs aren't thread all the way to the end. Look closely and you'll see that the end of the lug stud is smaller than the threaded part. What this does is when you put the wheel on, the lug nuts hang on the stud and you drive them on. The sockets are 12 point sockets with every other point milled down. This allows the tire changer to hold the trigger and keep the wrench spinning as he goes from lug nut to lug nut. Lug nuts are generally only used one time.

    I'm an F1 fan, but let me say this: NASCAR pit crews and drivers are absolute professionals and experts at what they do, and deserve the utmost respect. The way NASCAR operates in the pits is in a fashion that compliments the demands of the car and the team. Saying that F1 stops are somehow "better" when we're talking absolutely apples an oranges here is bullshit. So all of you guys shut up, you make F1 fans look like a bunch of elitist shitheads that only understand their own sport when it's simply not the case. Racing at this level of performance requires top commitment and professionalism, regardless of the discipline. A 4 second F1 pit and a 13 second NASCAR pit are two different examples of some of the most exciting aspects of all motorsports.

    oh the idiotic arguing over which is better. im an F1 and NASCAR fan. both forms of racing require much different styles of driving. unless youve done circle track competitively, you have no room to talk. generally, the phrase goes "you go to the NASCAR race to see cars race while you go to an F1 race to see race cars." thats msotly changed recently because of DRS and KERS.. otherwise known as in indy/CART: push to pass.

    • @ShadowFalcon
      @ShadowFalcon 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm thinking the same.
      Although I wouldn't compare NASCAR with F1.
      F1 is an openwheel series (the most competitive and advanced there is) while NASCAR is a very spec-fixed Stock car series (some say that that makes for better driver competition, but I feel that takes away the competition of the engineers in the teams).
      A more fair comparison would be against German DTM (although their pitstops are very F1 like, 3 guys a tire, centerlocks on the wheels, pneumatic jacks build into the car like in Le Mans and so on).

    • @MercOilbuner
      @MercOilbuner 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      NASCAR has a 7 member pit crew that has to stand behind the wall before the car pulls into the pit. F1 has up to a 23 member crew that is already pre positioned outside the wall waiting for the car to pull in. And F1 has only one lug nut vs NASCAR has 5.

    • @ShadowFalcon
      @ShadowFalcon 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You want to see frantic Pit Stops?
      Check Le Mans. Only five guys are allowed to work on the car when it's not in the garage.
      Sure might take a while for the stop to be completed, but there's nothing more stressful than seeing the car you're rooting for "boxing" for a Full Service. 5 guys who have to refuel, help with driver change, change all four tires and do whatever maintenance is required.

      @jdj62464 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +EqualsThreeable As much as I hate the comparison expression "apples to apples not apples to oranges" it applies here more then anything. First off a NASCAR weights roughly 3450 lbs were a F1 weighs 1548 less the half. Second a F1 ca is open wheel where a NASCAR is more like a regular car with fenders and wheel wells. Third a F1 has 2 jacks and 2 jack men that lift the whole car with air/hydraulic lifts where a NASCAR has a 1 jackman that carries the jack to each lifting point and uses a manual jack. Fourth on F1 every thing is laid out before the car enters his pit where a NASCAR has to carry every thing over the wall and they are only allowed over the wall when the car is 1 pit stall away. Fifth a NASCAR is only allowed 7 guys over he wall to work on the car where a F1 has as many as 21 guys all at once. Sixth NASCAR has 20 lug nuts to remove and reinstall where a F1 has 4. Seventh on a NASCAR the fuel is in cans and is fueling the car is gravity fed, on a F1 the fuel is pumped under pressure through a hose. Want me to go on?? But I think I've showed you the difference, JUST SAYING.

    Need to correct you here, Kyle Busch may have won 8 races in 2008 but he is no where close to the most wins in a single season, not even close to the top 10. Richard Petty has the most with 27 wins out of a 49 race season in 1967, 21 wins out of 48 in 1971, 18 wins out of 48 in 1970. And that's just 3 out of the top 10 all time wins, Petty has 2 more spots in the top 10 wins in a season. Granted some of these records go back 40-50 yrs, but that was when racing was racing, run what you brung & pit times were 45 sec to 90 seconds long.
