- Walking tour in Graça, with detailed historical information and context. Graça is one of Lisbon's most charming districts, as well as offering spectacular views over the city! Because Graça is located on the highest hill of Lisbon, Portugal, this is where the best viewpoints are, or "miradouros" as they are called in Portuguese. The two most popular viewpoints are the Miradouro da Graça and the Miradouro da Senhora da Monte.
Graça dates back to the foundation of a Convent, a 13th century construction under the name of Santo Agostinho. In 1305, this convent became Convento da Nossa Senhora da Graça, after which the neighborhood was then named.

Wow! I’m glad I finally watched this tour. I had no idea Graça is so lovely. I think all of the big trees and greenery, along with pleasant little squares and courtyards, throughout the area make it stand out among Lisbon’s neighborhoods. It seems to have a nice mix of old and new, activity and slow pace. Wish I could afford to live there. Thank you very much for this tour!

Lisboa é a história de muitos séculos a se apresentar em cada rua, viela e dobrando uma esquina. Excelente trabalho nesses videos mostrados onde venho a relembrar por lugares alguns que já estive e outros não visitados. Sempre no sobe e desce constante das colinas de Lisboa, parabéns.

@Vasco Albuquerque É curioso porque ainda ontem, num comentário no vídeo de Alcochete, uma pessoa falava na luz de Portugal. Talvez seja da latitude ou do oceano refletir a luz, etc, mas a luminosidade parece ser um pouco mais brilhante aqui do que no centro da Europa, por exemplo 😊
Quando estive no Brasil também achei os dias muito luminosos. É bom para filmar, quanto mais luz, melhor ficam as imagens!

If you like azulejos, I need to tell you a secret! The São Vicente de Fora Monastery (at 33:12) houses the largest collection of baroque tiles in Portugal and the second largest in the world. 😊 Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it couldn't be visited when I was there.

Mas quando eu estive no Brasil percebi que o oposto não acontece 😄 Há pouca cultura portuguesa facilmente disponível e assim as pessoas não estão nada habituadas ao sotaque português. Abraço!

@@POVTours Fez bem em não sair. Não há motivo para se arriscar. Uma chuva leve (aqui chamamos chuvisqueiro) é uma ocasião melhor para sair à rua. Aqui em BH caiu uma pancada bem forte no começo da noite de ontem, 01/11/21. Desceu uma enxurrada tão grande que a rua virou um rio! Mas foi por, relativamente, pouco tempo. Hoje, nada de chuva. Thank you for doing these videos. they are brilliant as usual. Could you please make a video on Martin moniz. I know you have a video on mouraria but I wanted to see the Asian community there. If you could travel along Rua benformoso, rua de terrerinho and calcada agostinho do carvalho also walk inside the shopping centre like the Centro commercial de Mouraria that would be awesome. I spent my teenage years living in martim moniz and really miss the city. keep up the great work man.

I'll film around the flea market area (maybe even the market itself, if people wanna see some bargains) when I go take a closer look at the National Pantheon. I thought about it, but I wasn't sure if that area is still Graça, I don't think it is... 🤔
Sadly, there are no more secrets places in Lisbon, everything has been discovered by hordes of tuk-tuks! Not that long ago, the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte was a very well kept secret, look at it now!
Recently while I was hiking in the wilderness I did find a secret palace hidden in a valley, north of Lisbon. Ask 100 Portuguese people if they know it and 99.5 will say "whaaaa?", or better yet "quêeeee?" 😲😲 The other 0.5 person will be lying anyway. Should never trust half people.

There is quite a fluent move from Graca and other neighbours but yes the Pantheon and some streets east of Rua da Graca are still Graca, well at least thats what my friend’s address says 😜 Some of them have beautiful view over the river 😍 Spending more time in Graca and immediate surrounding areas I was surprised how much I actually really liked it with a good mix of locals and real life people 😁 Good vibes place 😬
I agree with you as majority of Miradouros are quite touristy but when I was in Miradouro da Senhora do Monte majority of people there were Portuguese and it felt like they were locals just enjoying an afternoon out🤔

If you like good vibes you really need to see Graça during the June festivities. It's the craziest thing you've ever seen, probably 😁 Bica is very wild as well, plus a few other places. I miss the merriment, we didn't have it these last couple of years, for obvious reasons.

Yes, this is a very nice district, unfortunately can be incredibly crowded during high-season.
Avoid tram 28. Better take Bus 734 (737), but not far walking - rather hilly, stairs ok - from Martim Moniz.
Sad with all the bad grafitti, actually looks like shit, not what you want to see here in Lisboa.

Portugal é muito lindo,mas para brasileiros esse país é um pesadelo, é xenofobia atrás de xenofobia, infelizmente
Em todo o mundo há pessoas boas e pessoas más, pessoas tolerantes e pessoas xenófobas... Hoje em dia grande parte dos meus amigos aqui em Portugal são brasileiros/as, estão felizes, vivem aqui há muitos anos e não se sentem alvo de xenofobia.
Eu já vivi no estrangeiro e fui alvo de xenofobia, mas não considero que o país onde isso aconteceu é um país xenófobo, não posso classificar todo um país pelo que 2 ou 3 pessoas fazem. Seja pelo bem ou pelo mal. 🙂
Sabes o problema do mundo é haver burros como tu que não acrescentam nada à sociedade. Portugal é como todos os países têm gente xenófoba e term gente que não é. Mas é considerado no mundo como um dos menos xenófobos. Agora seu inteligente e o Brasil não tem tanta gente que é pesadelo para português? Vê a data de gente brasileira nas páginas socias, xingando Portugal, mandando eles entregar o ouro, dizendo mal do país que é isto e aquilo!! Mas eu como não sou otario como tu, não venho para aqui dizer mal dos brasileiros, porque sei que não são todos iguais. Tem muitos brasileiros que adoram Portugal. Portanto uns não pagam pelos outros. Mas te digo mais, muitos portugueses ficaram traumatizados com os bradileiros, por causa daquela avalanche de brasileiros que invadiu Portugal à uns anos atrás, que era quase tudo bandido, que vinha do Brasil para cá fazer o mesmo que fazia no Brasil, assaltar e matar. Muita prostituta também que se vieram prostituir... muitos portugueses ficaram com má impressão dos brasileiro, a esses portugueses têm que se dizer, que lá também há pessoas 5 estrelas, honestas e boas. Têm muito brasileiro cá em turismos e vivendo cá e de certeza que eles não dizem que os tratamos mal. Se há casos pontuais claro que há, como há no Brasil e em todo o mundo, mas não generalize otario!! 🤔Toda a tua conversa desmostra frustração deves ter uma vida de merd@!!
