To be honest I never understood why people tend to discard Nian as a really good defender. Sure her S3 isn't that good 90% of the time, but the S1 and S2 are pretty good. She easily reaches 1k attack with S1 and deals arts dmg while already having a boat load of defense. And her S2 is basically Cuora 2.0, she's practically invincible with that skill you can't look past that. Plus her talents are pretty good too, the shields require knowledge of the maps to be used at maximum efficiency that much is true and it sucks when you're discovering a map and you put her down to tank nothing, but it still has great uses and the talent that increases defender's hp is really good too. More hp means more survivability against all kinds of dmg not only physical like Hoshiguma does. I really don't understand why people look down on Nian she might not be the best but she's still pretty goddamn good
And put Cuora near Nian, and you have Cuora who can suddenly block 5-6 enemies at once, effectively clumping them together with her skill 2 😂. Just uhh, be prepared for extreme frame drops when you decide to kill those clumped enemies in a single go 😂.

As one who has done defenderknights, hot damn there's a loooot of DPS choices for a operator class that is meant to tank and defend with a certain two of them matching or in the case of the mecha using one doing nearly twice the damage of fucking Silverash.

My go-to Defender during Contigency Contract Blade used purely for tanking a buffed Faust + her cheap DP cost even at E2. And yeah she does one hell of a job taking those purple shots to the face only flinching to half HP 😂. Fun fact: I E2-ed my Cuora and M3-ed her Skill 2 just for gags, but I was shocked to see the value of her HP and DEF stats when her skill 2 pops. About 1K Physical DEF is no joke lol 😂.

Forget the Analysis Video, what Kind of an event is currently going on in Yiiniverse right now? ಠ_ಠ Also... 2:34 bless you. . On a more serious note, as someone who just got Cuora just a few days ago on the R6 Banner (thanks the Gacha gods for FINALLY!), I would say Cuora's worth doesn't really start to shine until you E150 her, by which point her Def can reach outstanding levels, provided you also atleast lvl5 her skills. But i knew she was *very pog* and desperately tired to roll for her. Just didn't expect to have to raise her quite a bit first to get to that meta level (Coming from a newbie, that means a LOT of resources went into her). This is also troubling, because Beagle is a good Tanker, but somewhat lags in the HP department, which is an important factor as well, as even if your Def is high, constant DPS from the enemy even if little wreck her over time. In this case Spot or Cardigan is much better, even if their damage is lesser (although, that cancerous Spot drop rate from Recruitment though... HNNNNNNNNNNGGGG!!!! Ending up burning a big chunk of my resources on raising Cuora and Liskarm through, because my main Defenders were usually Cardigan and Matterhorn... the Latter of whom i consider best Defender boi (Matterorn rate when?) Admittedly, his skills are less useful though, as it is usually Def damage a Defender should usually be worried about than Res, when the need to use skills arises. Also, Dur--nar is pretty cool i guess, just got her. But i feel like one should rely on casters, specially AoE for the mass hoards that get collected in from of a defender, instead of using her. ..But i'm still a CC no show, so.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ANYWAY!! tangent aside, This format good. Hung is not really a traditional ground medics like the rest of his archetypes. He’s meant to be a core tank. As someone who invested in both, the performance in general game is basically the same. With Hung offering way more versatility. They have the around the same DEF using skill with Hung only falling behind 100 points. Hung with skill is deceptive tanky, being able to tank both Physical and Arts with no RNG, at skill level 7 he has a Theoretical 9K HP bar with his self healing. Manual trigger skill so you can save it for important moments, high initial SP cost that can be used to stall for 30s upon deployment. And he gives SP if he ended up healing anyone. Defensive recovery is indeed annoying, it charges too slow for a healing skill, but for a defensive skill it charges faster than most normal defenders’ defense up skills. And with Blemishine he’s uptime is insane. I find Hung to be extreme underrated. No where near as bad as most people gives him credit for.
I knew Liskarm is good but I couldn't get myself to E2 her.. I got bigger defender player to E2 unfortunately.. Like maybe after Asbestos E2 and maybe Blitz.
Liskarm is definitely better than those two in terms practicality. Skill two can be a good source of damage while skill 1 is a decent defensive skill. And of course the sp talent is always good
Yeah rely on defender as main DPS is normally a mistake unless you have a Mudrock or Blemshine. And having both Hoshi and Cuora E2 yet using them so little even lesser than my E2 Gummy, I highly doubt I would ever use even a E2 Liskarm.

3:40 Hate to break it to ya bud but have you seen Asbestos S2? When activated, it works as a true AoE with the range of Surtr S3/Broca S2 (both are not true AoE) and hits aerial enemies. If there's a map that bans all ranged tiles/operators, Asbestos S2 is the only non-guard operator who can even dream of killing the high DEF high HP ones because Blitz and Liskarm (yes they can hit aerial enemies too) do diddly squat amounts of damage to them.
One thing I feel you should have mentioned about "Arts Iron Guards" (Is that really the name?) is that they have a higher res at E2 (Durnar has 15, Asbestos a whopping 25) than the other types, meaning they are much better in situations where arts enemies would overwhelm your other defenders (see: especially every melee arts enemy). Maybe this was brought up in part two, but just in case.

Of course she doesn’t match the damage AoE guards provide since they have skills and stats dedicated to DPS, but Hoshi’s subrole of DPS shouldn’t be underestimated with S3. Also, reaper guards have the quirky range and “can’t be healed” trait. I don’t think that’s a good comparison for a tank.
The value of Hoshiguma is being able to tank super well while being able to dust off mobs and other low armor units, and there are lots of dangerous low armor units be it casters, Enraged Possessed, Bloodshamans, the big croc champs and etc. At peak stats she has 1k damage which mulches all non-heavy defense enemies. Sure there's lots of high defense enemies but having an op who will not go splat against high hitting enemies while enabling you to focus on said big guys hitting her because Hoshiguma cleared off all the mooks/low defense enemies is quite nice to have.

While the big guys have them distracted the rest pile on unharmed and eventually leak. Hoshiguma's S3 bypasses this by attacking all enemies at the same time and that has saved me in many stages. And even if she were just a bad AOE guard, you still get the benefits of an AOE guard and a very tanky defender with a single operator.
That is.. some really stupid comparison. Saying Hoshiguma is a bad AoE guard is like saying that Blaze (the apex of AoE guard) is a worse Hoshiguma because of her "low" defense (an atk that can one shot Blaze (S2M3) can only deal a little more than Hoshi's(S3M3) hp while an atk that can't get through Hoshi's def deals 25% of Blaze's hp). They each have their own use.

Saying Hoshiguma is a bad AoE guard is like saying that Blaze (the apex of AoE guard) is a worse Hoshiguma because of her "low" defense (an atk that can one shot Blaze (S2M3) can only deal a little more than Hoshi's(S3M3) hp while an atk that can't get through Hoshi's def deals 25% of Blaze's hp).
They each have their own use.
@@michaell1892 I'm just rebutting yii's statement that: "during her s3, Hoshi becomes a better Aoe guard", which is clearly not the case.
