In this I will be taking you to to a place that is reported to be so haunted nobody will camp here so I took on the challenge and came across something so terrifying it made me realise how much danger my life was in.
Many stories from the locals here and all different kinds of spirits seen and reported such as Miners seen on the paths, twinkling eyes staring at people in the dark , grey lady, and so much more.
On December 21, 1910 344, local men and boys were killed in an underground explosion at the Hulton Colliery
The explosion occurred at 7.50am on Wednesday 21 December 1910. 344 men and boys died.
The Pretoria Pit Disaster is the worst coal mining accident to have occurred in Lancashire and the third-worst mining disaster in British history.
Follow me as I take you to one of the uks most haunted woods alone, solo camping and paranormal investigating to see if we can catch and communicate with one of the ghostly figures that are seen here.

How do Jay. I can confirm how haunted that area is. As a kid, myself and several mates camped up there near the little fishing lake in our tents. Back then there were stories of the "Picker Pickers" The ghosts of the miners who walked the woods. The mist is real. Its like a movie mist that clings to the floor and the night we camped we heard the noise of horses and voices echoing through the woods. To say we pooped ourselves was putting it mildly and many of us took up 22 air rifles- though what use they'd be against a ghost is anyone's guess lol. Lets just say 40 years later I still remember and never camped up there again. Theres something supernatural up there for sure. The old mine shaft which used to have a cage from round it gave weird noises at night.
Theres another story about the mine disaster. My Dad's Uncle Ralfe was the game keeper for Squire Houlton for many years and lived in the lodge near the gates on Newbrook road. but before that he was a seam fireman/saftety officer at gib field pit. when pretoria exploded, its said that they got every body out but Uncle Ralfe told otherwise. The explosion was so extreme that the miners were literally blown to pieces and they would take pieces out and the families would have closed coffins.Anyhow, when Ralfe was at Gib field they were digging a new seam when suddenly it broke into another shaft which was belonging to Pretoria. the miners found 22+ rotted bodies in the old shaft and ralfe reported it to the mine bosses. They instructed him and the miners to seal the shalf and seam and block it off and never speak of it again. The thinking being that every family that lost someone had had their funeral and so it wouldnt to to raise old upsets and cause distress to surviving familes. To this date there are 22+ pretoria miners still in a shaft down there.

Wow kenny this is absolutely fantastic mate I do remember my grandad saying about bodies they never recovered. I would go back up if you wanted one morning mate and we can have a chat about the history and have a look around.
I didn't feel it was safe after a wile to camp as you know yourself living in the area the druggies are quite bad now and have taken over that side iv heard.
The history on this place is fantastic and really is something that I feel passionate about maybe as a boy growing up here and the stories off grandad made me i guess a feel something for them.

@MrJhonB184 same I saw my grandma 2 weeks after she died in full apparition form, I was five at the time and we were very close so my parents didn't tell me that she'd died, which is the reason I didn't freak out.

Hi again mate yea course. My camera is a Sony ax53 I highly recommend these but when it rains I go back to gopro. Spirit talker I use is a sp7 spirit box and some others and I use apps aswell as I find these work good to. Feel free to email me buddy and il give any advice you need 😉

@RiverJayy haha there is some nutters here mate and with expensive equipment it sure is a easy meal if it's 4 against 1 etc and they rob you through nite so sometime best to go back with lighter things haha 😄. Where you from river what area you live bud. Its crazy as some places we don't know anything about and bump into gangs allsorts so we gota be careful lol but I still go as I like showing you guys the places to.
It's built into us for a reason.... If you don't feel safe, LEAVE. Those are the BEST stories, in my opinion. I went camping, didn't feel right in the area, I chose somewhere else, the end. Had a good time, and stayed safe.

It really does I feel alot for these as my family live in the area and I have been told so much from grandad and nans that I feel I have a connection to these now. The stories are just so sad x

They are tearing out 100s of years old live oaks/ loblolly pines in our beach community in NC
They can't take away this place as its very dangerous and its just a heap now and really deep. They did have planning permission to take it down and build houses but that got cancelled. There lovely places but arnt safe at all. The areas we live in have lots of homless and ther very hostile and like to steal from people. Iv been here many times over the years but it's got worse for people there now x

My first video I've watched of yours Jay. You seem an authentic guy, and not trying to glamorise or exagorate things. I'm mixed feelings, as i objectively didn't observe anything outstanding, and don't trust technology; yet equally do believe in paranormal activity.
The mind is super powerful when we're alone and fearful. So things could be perception, especially as you have historical knowledge of the location.
I'm not denying your intent, nor how genuine you are; just objectively not overly impressed.
I think you were wise to trust your intuition not to camp out with the physical presence of the people there. You are a brave man.

@beckyfraiser2250 I use to live in Gainesville, Georgia. Went to Brenau Academy a long long time ago. I love Georgia so much and I go back whenever I can. Took my kids to your beautiful aquarium but now I live in Kure Beach, NC. Anyway, I agree with u 💯%! People would scare me to death if I was out there solo camping! It's really sad how we have to worry about actual people when out at locations. Wasn't like that when I was growing up. I'm glad u left too, especially since I'm a new sub! 😅 I'm looking forward to watching your channel!

Alright matey. Yea been so busy recently just been non stop. Iv been out filming locations etc but just had no time edit so I took a few days off and went out camping but mate this was crazy place.
Starting to do my episodes abit different now mate than just a abandoned location I want to show you loads more like day explore then night paranormal and some history to so the episodes are alot better and longer. How you been mate.

You kept saying "I don't know what to do". Here is what you do - move into a thicker more dense area and find a spot to hole up and just duck in. Don't set up anything, just keep watch for an hour or two and see who comes thru, and if there is someone following you they will be looking around for you.
That's exactly what i did I hid for a hour in the bushes near the lake. If you follow me on Facebook youl see all the clips I posted on this day of it.
Over the last few years. There are many homeless immigrants . That have made our woodland their home.Usually banding together.whichever nationality they are. They also Poach in our waterways. This isn't me. Calling them for the sake of it. As it's true what I say. Be safe out there.
This is true there are so many now stealing fish, sheep houses and robbing people. Going to these places knowing about the history and the deaths is brilliant as I get to teach and show you guys more but sometimes being alone its best to avoid confrontation with homeless as they Carey massive knives here and crime rate has gone mega high recently. I have different locations to show you guys but thos time I have to changed my equipment up so now my camping gear is now stealth so I can hide out abit better x

First time I’ve caught your channel, no coincidence.. Check out the Cadder Pit Disaster in Glasgow, 1913. Virtually indentical wooded landscape, same vibe. As for people in the woods? Happens all the time, usually if you leave them alone they’ll leave you alone. However, when you’re hiking or wandering be prepared to be assertive if required. When I enter the woods, I’ll pick up a thick piece of wood, walking stick and great for defensive purposes. Take care out there. ☘️💪

Hi from Scotland just came across your channel I used to hillwalking and midges in Scotland are nightmare 😂 use Avon skin so soft body lotion it stops them biting. Marines used it when on exercise in our mountains I used it all the time you get it with no fragrance but it works! Man your brave i get spooked easily and used to go festivals when i was younger so was used to the dark fields etc i got more scared as i got older because i seen way too many ghosts /demonic vids etc i know the spirit world is real /Good luck keep safe x

Here in the UK solo camping isn't a good idea, especially in semi urban areas. From things I've seen and read alot of homeless take up in places like this and can become defensive of "their" land. They were making themselves known to you by making the sounds to scare you away.
Definitely agree here it's not safe. Il be doing more soon like pendle and others so hopefully it's not like this one 😅. I could here them but not see them was so freaky. Hope your safe on yiur travels xq

It is not necessary to put yourself in danger just to make a video. Being safe is more important if you want to keep making videos.

ALWAYS follow your instincts. They are never wrong. If it is not safe, it is not worth the risk, just to say you stayed in a haunted wood. There is always another day.

I'd never camp alone, i believe in ghosts, in that they are recordings of the past being replayed, not people coming back from the dead. The dead can't hurt you only the living.

Thanks Andy. I sat in the bushes having a drink and on phone to Mrs and I could hear them in there so as I started walking you could hear them follow me through. Wasn't safe mate and not worth losing my equipment over there rough as now here and especially living up here there mad lol.

I always thought that the UK's most haunted forest was Cannock Chase? It's well known that many people (from all over the UK) consider it to be so. And there are other notorious forests supposedly extremely haunted: Dering Woods (just next to Pluckley, Kent), Sherwood Forest, New Forest, Dartmoor, Harwood Forest (Northumberland), and of course Epping Forest.
I'd never heard of the place in this video. It certainly seens spooky, but is it really scarier/creepier than Cannock Chase or Epping Forest???

Hi sandy. Yea lots of paranormal happens in this old town my family live here and stuff happens alot to the neighbours etc as there old miners houses.
This place is lovely through the day but the shafts have a uneasy feeling for sure.
I couldn't breath up there haha my rucksack weight a ton so next time il be getting lighter equipment as I don't wana get it nicked at night. X

She's a good one. I got back around 9.15 headed home fast told her and went back she was like what you doing i said il be home but I forgot she worries. I love adventures and I intended have a good night but then I just felt not safe at all x
Also, if I would hVe seen that lean-to I would have gone backwards and gone a good halfway back to find a nice place. You seemed to have gone a long way past the old shaft. Don't blame you if you didn't follow through on this one! I think others would agree.😮
The path I first walked leads up the the shafts 3-4 then I walk through the woods to the other side where the Hulton manor is who owns the land and the lake where the whit lady is. The other side I went to has another shaft there aswell and lots of sightings.
After see them people I just thought this is not a good idea. I spoke to my cath and she said nope you better come home so I went home around 8.30pm then got back up there and stayed till late on. Its very creepy and not safe x
I’m about 30 minutes in so I don’t know if you stayed or left the forest. I just want to say that you always need to follow your gut!! I wouldn’t have stayed. Well, I would have never gone in the first place lol

Hey Morris, just seen this on the local page and another livery on the farm located on top of the pit has sent it to me. Our horses are stabled on this land! It's a beautiful place. To be fair, I've had a few experiences on here along with some other girls on the yard over the years and saw some strange things on the cctv! Amazing to see that our treasured land is being explored. Maybe this could be used to help in our fight against a big building developer who wants to demolish this incredible historic land and desecrate the mass graves of these poor men and boys 💔

Just pause it at the timestamp and zoon in. And he will be right about in the center of the screen. He looks deformed or injured severely his right shoulder is way higher than the left one. Tc. 1:00:49 one of the homeless guys is watching you, standing in front of the tree with his arms crossed. Its not a ghost, you were just being watched probably by the one of the guys at the camp you came across in the first half. In fact he can be seen a few times from 59:48 onwards when the camera is facing you.
@ 58:58 is the the other guy from the camp leaning against the tree. Both images at these time stamps are living breathing humans.

To be honest the place is very very eerie and not many birds noises once you enter the woods it's as if even the birds know. Lots of homeless drug addicts now up there it's like this alot now

I rang cath as id been there all day from morn to get cinematic etc and when I seen them she said nope you need cone home lol so I did and went back with a smaller rucksack. I was like, Panthers....in the UK? Hmm I wondered if the British meaning of panther was different than the the US. I've noticed little differences between the Queens English and ours but indeed apparently there seems to be DNA extracted from a dead deer of a panther. Hell I'd be nervous too. Back in the 60s in the uk in London it was legal to have exotic pets and lots let them loose in the wild here when it became illegal to own them. People had lions, tigers, panthers, all sorts here and let them go. Over the past 50 years or more there has been 1000s of panther sightings and a good few in this area. As the woods isn't huge they easily take down a deer so we see allsorts up these woods and the area its self is not safe. Yea we do speak a little different some words we say mean the same as Americans but just a bit different. Wasn't long a go a guy was down south and saw a cheetah in a tree. We definitely have animals here that arnt suppose to be we have monkey here to only small capuchin monkey but they came from people letting them loose now they have bred there is loads. We have loads now in the uk. They also have a leopard that's seem here. My mate from new Zealand is coming over this year so we going to be out in search of these to see if we can get these on camera x
Sirens are so close. You aren't too far from safety. Camping in the woods in USA is REALLY in the deep woods. If that's what you're looking for, go somewhere else. So are you looking for comfort, or solitude? In USA we're looking to be AONE.
These woods are quite big but not so big as like the USA these areas hold small woodlands with lots of deaths and history but The area this is in is now been taken over by homeless who are very hostile and are robbing houses and people. Iv plenty more to get to just this one was a bit crazy with those people. I'm out for the paranormal and to show you guys places all over so best I avoid conflicts why I'm out alone xx

Fuck that mate, people are more of a threat than paranormal! I think it was a bad idea even going back! And when you did the paranormal stuff, you didn't give it your full attention because you were worried about the living.. next time, trust your gut and wait till you have some people with you. Better safe than sorry.
