Eaton Plumbing - Founded In 1974, Team Approach Continues To Pay Dividends

Max Eaton, the second-generation owner of Eaton Plumbing, is more than willing to give credit where credit is due for the company’s success. First off, there’s his father-company founder John (Jack) Eaton-who started the company in the family garage in Westerville in 1974. Jack grew the company to nearly 60 employees specializing in residential plumbing, both new construction and residential service. The second place where Eaton gives credit is the company’s employees. “They have a great work ethic, and our contractors know that,” he said. “I can sell stuff, but if the team can’t do it, it doesn’t matter. We don’t operate like a lot of companies that have managers who drive around all day. Our management team are all field-working guys. We want everyone to hold each other accountable.”
Eaton Plumbing primarily works in the greater Columbus area, currently a booming market, Eaton noted. Recent projects include a 120-unit apartment complex in Pataskala, where crews did everything from underground sewer and water lines to finishing out the plumbing in each apartment.
The company also works in new home subdivisions for builders such as D.R. Horton, Ryan Homes and Epcon Communities. Eaton assigns dedicated crews to each builder so “it’s not a learning curve. Every builder has its own quirks on how they like to see things done,” and crews that work with the builder day in and day out can best meet those expectations, Eaton explained.
