Convenient how they always have a nice building handy where they can conduct their torture. Every plot has been done, therefor every movie is the same. I havent seen a good movie in 20 years.
Apart from the silliness of some scenes, the storyline has more than one serious flaw.... Operation Mincemeat was an actual event, but it was a 100% British plan to draw the Germans away from Sicily in preparation for Operation Husky. The true story was to take a natural corpse from a morgue, dress him up as a British Army Major, strap a briefcase strapped to his wrist, containing false Top Secret Plans to make the Germans believe an invasion would take place elsewhere. It took a long time to find a suitable body to make it look as he had been drowned; they then took him by submarine some way off the Spanish Coast, and dropped him in the tides that washed him ashore. The plan worked, and it drew many troops away from Sicily. Operation Husky went ahead and Sicily was secured. American troops operated around the west side of the island, while British troops took all the major cities on the east. The other flaw in this film is that there was no operation by American/Canadian "Commandos" as depicted; there was no pre-invasion operation by American troops, no American rescue operation to free them....and there was no spy - American or otherwise. So the film was totally fictional Some years ago, another American-made film did exactly the same thing. This time they told of the American capture of the Enigma Code machinn - daring US Naval action that managed to disable a German U-Boat. When the boarded the stricken vessel, they found the machine and the US agents decoded it. So there again, a totally fictional account of an event performed by the British, and decoded by the British, which the British passed on to the US. Just as a matter of interest, mention was made in this film you just watched, of Operation Torch (the US invasion of North Africa), and its main objective to assist the Britiah Forces making their final thrust to rid N Africa of Rommel's Army. Unfortunately, the Americans got caught in a German trap and lost a full infantry division. A short time later, they lost an entire tank dvision in the Kasserine Pass. In the end, it was the British who had to pull the Amis out of the hole they'd dug through their incompetence. The moral of the story is not to believe American films!
Planned entirely by MI5 officers Ewen Montagu and Charles Cholmondley ( for Americans pronounced Chumley ) with the Royal Navy HMS Seraph delivering the 'cargo' , a Welsh tramp who died of rat poison ( presumably after eating baited food) whose name remained undisclosed until fairly recently that I can't recall , Gwyir or Gwyndir ? The plan was entirely successful . The whole idea of deceptive techniques was the brainchild of no other than Lt Commander In Flemming of " James Bond " fame at the UKs MOD . He devised a special operations unit of which my father was a member , 30AU . Recruited from all the combined forces Royal Navy, Marines , Commandos and Army , they operated behind enemy lines with resistance units in Sicily , Italy and Northern Europe to capture documents , officers and equipment . The exploits of one Lt. Cmdr Dalziel Job , possibly the inspiration for Flemming's 'Bond' character , can be read in his biography .
@@jonathanokolie009 It's what American, non-historian film writers and producers have been doing for countless years. They take a piece of documented history where the US may or may not have been involved, then bypass the truth and create false, undeserved self- glorification. The problem is that the American public lap it up, believing it all. It's been done with stories from the First World War, 2nd World War, Korea, Vietnam, Mogadishu, Bosnia, Asghanistan, the Bay of Pigs and just about every other conflict or event in the last 250 years. They are so expert at it that the American public no longer can tell the difference between truth and fiction. Bear one truth in mind: The US has never won a war ON ITS OWN in history! That's fact! In most cases they were either beaten, kicked out, or they abandoned the fight.
@@reggriffiths5769 just as you rightly said, what is actually more worrisome is the obvious gullibility being displayed by the Americans in swallowing hook, line and sinker, all the trash-load of lies and propaganda being fed them by their government. It this appears as if they are actually being served what they want to hear... Which means that the American people are the ones who makes demands for half-truths and lies to be served them. They talk about the heroism of foreign soldiers and forget what the Moroccan soldiers did in World War II in Indochine. The Moroccan soldiers were the ones who paid for France, and in the end they did not get anything. Those who remained above the leader of life only get what does not get fat and does not satisfy hunger.
