All outsiders and troublemakers should leave Syria be; allow them to build a new peaceful Syria - outside meddling has caused so much of the Middle East's war and suffering since the early-mid 20th Century.

It's up to the Syrians now if they want to settle the scores or if they want law & order. I understand why the Alawites and the Christians want to keep their weapons and stay mobilised in their villages and towns. There's a big chance that the groups under the Hayyat Tahrir al Sham's unbrella will breakaway and throw Syria into chaos.

I wish you had spoken up about Syria when the Alawites were treating Syrians like subjugated people. Drinking Johnny Walker doesn’t absolve anyone of responsibility for war crimes.

I'm not sure that that's what's happened. I think the Syrian people have replaced an extremely repressive, mass-murdering, torture-loving, one-party, anti-democratic dictatorship with a government that's open to working with other countries, that seeks justice for the victims of the old regime and that wants a peaceful Syria based on the rule of law. That's how I read it.

Assad was no terrorist. Ask the Christians what they think of Assad. 50 years that country was normal, people got along. Wasn’t until 2010 that Obama and Hillary got involved.

It could just as easily be a pragmatic decision by the US government (“it’s better to try to repair a relationship with a former enemy who is keeping things stable rather than to try to get a new leader you prefer, which could throw Syria into chaos”)

As I predicted Syria yet to come to peace. Thats celebration of freedom was rather a single event. The war in Syria wasn’t war of Bashar Assad against Syrians but a war of minorities against majority. Muslim and Christian minorities will continue together because of one of minorities will join a majority the majority will consume it. A majority - a danger to minority. Minorities are more comfortable with each other other because this way they can survive and develop. Besides, HTS doesn’t have power. HTS is only fifteen thousands soldiers. That’s nothing for such a huge country as Syria. Syria is divided country. Will Syria be the same? As federation, possibly. Or will stop to exist however that least likely
