The music video for this great song was shot in the Koli National Park in Finland, and more specifically in the Koli fell peaks. The place is located near the city of Joensuu in Eastern Finland, where Insomnium is also from. This landscape is one of Finland's most famous national landscapes, and I myself have visited the same place a few times. In fact, I have visited all (41) Finnish national parks. In particular, if you ever have the chance to visit Finnish Lapland, you will get to enjoy a very special place and its beautiful and rugged landscapes. Some of Lapland's fell peaks are millions of years old, and in fact once the oldest mountains in the world, which erosion has brought to their current state. Certainly one of the reasons why Finland has the most metal bands in the world in relation to its population is the dark and cold winters, the beautiful nature colored by forests, swamps and lakes, and the history colored by wars and poverty, which we have survived together as a nation to the present glory without forgetting our roots.
This song is so full of Sentenced. When they say "Do you still remember?", I always think that line means Sentenced. And thru the song u can hear small similarities, for example 5:19-5:50. Also, the drummer of Sentenced produced music video for this.
Intro is also heavily inspired by Aika Muistot Multaa, a song by Sentenced And I also see structural similarities too Cross My Heart And Hope To Die, thematically too
Ancient Finns buried their dead loved ones in water or cremated them. This tradition is thousands of years old. 🇫🇮 Hope you enjoy Insomnium, greatest band in Finland!
Back in -19 when this came out, I realised I've become an old man with a heart like grave... My interpretation of the video is that the old man and the young boy are the same person. Lady with dark hair would be his mom.
you know, my interpretation of the song is that the woman and the kid are his daughter and grandchild, the woman in the white dress that we see in the video its actually visions from the old man, thats why sometimes we see him carrying an empty dress and then the woman in others
oh yeah this song makes me cry. Finnish bands know how to move, and not just one Insomnium. By the way, another song is connected with this song and the clip, they are united by one story. This is the song and video "Valediction"
You could try Twilight Trails, from the same album, for me is the best metal song ever. Heavier than this, gloomier, with many break downs, melodic, majestic..sad. it has everything !!! :-)
That's how I interpret it too. We see her dead in bed briefly. The dark haired woman is their daughter and the boy is the grandchild. He is an old man who finds himself empty and dead with just memories of their life together. The daughter tries to console and connect with him. The boy runs to tell his mom something is wrong. He dresses her in white and then we see him lay her in the water. She is young again in his eyes. I guess it is up for interpretation weather he just also walked in the water with her.

Music like Insomium is like therapy for me, it's not for nothing that we say metal saves lives!

Yeah, and the Valediction should have been watched first.
Finnish melodeath has made my life better 🖤
i think this is a fun fact, according to insomnium, this is their most melancholic song they have ever done
I think my pale morning Star IS more depressive.
And One for Sorrow what an amazing song
React to Come On by Oktaf Kanis, for the next reaction, thanks guys 🙌🏻
Hail Insomnium ❤
Hell yeah 👏👍✌️🇬🇧

Or his wife was dying and couldn't live without her
