And considering that Stardew Valley is itself a copy of Harvest Moon, albeit better than its source of inspiration, that statement is quite hypocritical.

Josh B. Nimble be careful, if you bought the game and you upset them, they will sue you and make you pay for all (unlimited) legal expenses, also ban you for the game forever without need of having or giving you a reason why. It said so right there in the user agreement.
scorpious1109 They started with a patreon to finance their game, where they got about 1100 patreons along the way, then at the end of 2019 they announce their deal with epic to make the game epic exclusive, which a lot of people didn’t like since epic games is awful and most of them found the game via steam. What I said in my comment is just stuff they put in the user agreement deal you have to agree to once you download the game, before you start playing. They also ban you from reverse engineer their game in order to see what is in the code (probably just to avoid spoilers and piracy of the game, but given epic reputation,who knows) and other stuff like that. In all fairness I think they never promised a copy of the game, only “behind the scenes” footage and the habilitation to vote/suggest stuff for the game.

This intro looks like it was ripped from "My Time At Portia", which has you being whisked to your new home in a small boat of similar design by a crusty old sea captain. It even had your character standing at the bow of the ship in both games. The major differences being that Portia was returning home theme and didn't have Ooblets.
some advice: clothlet and oobsidian are going to cause you the most trouble early to mid game. Clothlet is particularly troublesome as clothlet sells for less then clothlet seeds cost to buy. Clothlet also takes 3 days to grow and is a fairly rare spawn in badge town. Meed also will only sell 10 of each seed every day. you will need quite a lot of clothlet as most projects will need around 5 clothlet each to complete. you can very rarely find clothlet by weeding on your farm. oobsidian is super rare. you're supposed to farm gleamy ooblets for oobsidian but i haven't seen any gleemy ooblets in my first month in Badgetown. maybe they are unlocked with late game wishes or only spawn outside of town. you can find oobsidian as a very rare drop from breaking rocks or on the ground in badge town. you can and probably should uses wishes to buy oobsidian and clothlet during the midgame once you can reliably grind daily task for more wishes. Once you get your ooblet coops up to lv4 you'll be able to automate your farm. you'll only have to fill your coops with seeds and the ooblets placed inside the coop will do all the farming for you.

Epic offered them a deal good enough that they could move along the games development at a much faster pace, since the game is made by 2 people and they’ve been working on it for 4 years. Epic offered them a deal good enough that they could move along the games development at a much faster pace, since the game is made by 2 people and they’ve been working on it for 4 years. They definitely should have been more thoughtful in their response to the backlash though. It didn’t help things, obviously. lol

@@KKarkatVantas I've followed it all, it was blown out of proportion, and the things they said we're simply not media groomed beforehand. Nothing about what they said was wrong.

Cute game, but i remember the toxic sass these developers threw out when they chose Epic game store, attacking their fan base for their choice.
In their defense, they were getting some pretty nasty comments from people. Many of which weren't even fans. At the time, any studio that announced their Epic choice, got harassed by anti-epic trolls.
