    i think the reason why a lot of people didn’t like the vocals was because they were spit bit aggressively, which doesn’t really work with the whole “chill/soft”lofi vibe.
    but as someone who likes both lofi and hip hop, i really enjoyed the song both with and without; very different vibes from both, but very enjoyable either way.

    7th chords are basically triads with a 7th note on a particular scale.
    Say it's in the key of C, then the notes would be C, E, G, B; with "B" being the extended 7th note and "C" as the first note.
    Triads are a set of three notes played on top of each other.

    • @aaa-a-aaaaaa3144
      @aaa-a-aaaaaa3144 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Major 7th chords. But yeah.
      A standard "7th chord" (sometimes referred to as a "Dominant 7th chord") uses the Major triad and the LOWERED 7th of that scale.
      Major 7th = C E G B
      Dominant 7th = C E G Bb

    • @thdg5490
      @thdg5490 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      For anyone else reading this. There is a lot more to it then just figuring out what a triad is, and adding a "7th" note to a triad. You need to learn what a major and minor scale is, and how chords are built before you understand 7th and 9th chords (AKA Jazz Chords).

    • @aaa-a-aaaaaa3144
      @aaa-a-aaaaaa3144 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thdg5490 lmao you mean to tell me Chopin didn't use 7, 9, 11, and 13 chords altered into oblivion? You're saying Bach didn't use 9th chords EVER?? Those aren't called "(JAZZ CHORDS)" they're called (EXTENDED TERTIAN CHORDS). Don't go spouting off to "anyone else reading this" when it's clear you've never understood harmony on more than a high school level at MOST.

When people care about your theory while you play call me OK?

    • @aaa-a-aaaaaa3144
      @aaa-a-aaaaaa3144 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Owtyg23 you know, you're right. Nobody cares about how much theory someone knows when they're playing... So why did @Th Dg feel the need to gate keep by telling random people on a TH-cam video that they need to learn scales to understand chords? His logic is flawed and his information is incorrect. I'm not trying to be a dick to everyone just @Th Dg. He shouldn't go around telling people what they should and shouldn't know if it's obvious that he doesn't even understand what he's trying to bully other people around with.

    I wish I could do this, I'm so confused about 95% of FL studio

    • @JRent506
      @JRent506  6 ปีที่แล้ว +535

      It takes time to learn. I didn't know anything about music theory or music production. I decided I wanted to learn in Sept. 2015 and started watching tutorials on youtube, reading music theory/music production info on google and reddit and reading my software manuals (like the FL Studio manual). I kept a notebook/journal and wrote down any information I thought might be useful to know. My goal wasn't to be the best or to make amazing beats, my goal was simply to make sure I learned at least one new thing each day, as long as I did that I could be satisfied with my progress. Learning one thing doesn't sound like a lot, but it builds up over time. Just like laying down bricks, laying one down a day doesn't look like much, but eventually it'll turn into a wall or a house or whatever.
      Don't get upset or discouraged if you're confused or don't understand something. Look at your confusion as an opportunity to learn. You're confused because you don't know certain info, and that gives you a task to complete, which is to start pin pointing things you don't understand and start seeking out info to help you understand. I wish you the best and I have faith that if you want to learn you will learn!

    No offense because you're way more talented a producer than I, but.. I feel you're underestimating lofi. What you made was very clean and well produced but it also sounded very logistical. Lofi to me is one of the few places left in the music industry with real passion behind it, and to just say "here's a random speech to a movie that's unrelated to the passions of this song".. idk it just feels cheap?

    • @JRent506
      @JRent506  6 ปีที่แล้ว +213

      I appreciate the feedback, maybe I did under estimate it, I'm not sure. Morgan Freeman's voice is wonderful and Shawshank Redemption is one of my all time favorite movies, I didn't put much thought into choosing the speech though I tend to try not to over think things and just go with my gut when creating. I always have more to learn, I've been rapping for 15 years, but I just started producing and learning music theory in Sept. 2015 so I still consider myself to be somewhat of a beginner at this.

    I think one thing that’s really important for me when trying to learn something from someone on yt is to feel like they are making something serviceable or high quality. I’ve been searching all day for a good lofi demonstration because many ppl go over the basics but create something that’s either bad or just not in line with the genres core principles. It feels like they don’t even really listen to lofi, which is fine. But then how can they expect to make something of quality if they haven’t been engrossed in the genre. It’s like when a teacher makes a shitty rap song for class despite not really understanding the art form. You on the other hand I presume do understand it. What you made is good. Like I could jam to this. And that’s important because if I’m trying to learn how to make something I would think is good I want to at least start following someone making something I would say is good. Seeing someone go over basics but they make a shitty cheap knock off isn’t helpful. Seeing all the moving parts and at the end seeing a quality product gives you a scope of what you need to know to make something good as well. Thankyou great vid

    I'm having an issue getting the Vinyl plugin into my FL Studio, I went through the installation process but after that the plugin was lost in my pc. After finding it I couldn't really do anything with the folder because of the type of file the files were considered. Now I'm just kind of lost and any help would be awesome, I saw you were still liking comments so hopefully you could help out. Thank you I look forward to using Vinyl!

      If you see the .dll file anywhere copy and paste it into your FL studio VST plugins folder. It should be under Program Files (x86) > Image Line > FL Studio > Plugins > VST
      Then open up FL Studio, go to your mixer, go to open up effects and select "more" then scan for more VSTs and the vinyl plugin should appear in the list, just check the little box beside it to let FL Studio know you want this VST to appear in the effects menu

      I meant music samples, you have to clear music samples and it is a hassle, so it's advisable to make original music if you plan on selling it

    It was a late night
    I was feeling alright
    Next thing I knew
    You were gone, nothing I could do
    Had me feeling sick
    Feeling like I got beat with a stick
    Left this strange place we call home
    I feel like I’m trapped inside a dome
    I find myself crying more
    My heart hurts to the core
    I don’t wanna be alive anymore
    Tie a knot around my neck
    Can’t Kick the chair, im a wreck
    I try again I count down till I get to seven
    Slip and fall off the chair I guess it’s my time I’ll see you in heaven...
