I'm a seventy-one year-old man, resident of Sanibel. I cried for what it was . . . and for what it will be again.

I don’t think Sanibel will change too much because of the Ordinances. Fort Myers Beach on the other hand… I’m afraid it’ll look like Marco Island or Ft. Lauderdale Beach! 😩

Prayer for the island's healing. And for all who have been impacted by Ian.

Love this island. Wishing the best for the flora & fauna, the businesses and residents of Sanibel as they recover from Hurricane Ian. It's definitely one special place.

So many wonderful memories on Sanibel, heartbroken for what has happened to the island, the people and the wildlife.

Here I am, wearing my 2017 Sanibel Blues and Jazz Festival t-shirt. Thinking about all the great memories that hurricane Ian could never destroy. Wondering when this special place will be healed enough to return and considering how best to help.

Ian is not the first hurricane to hurt this island, even if it might have been the worst. Sanibel has always recovered. It will again this time, too.

It'll be better... Safer. Please have hope.... Our internal souls will grow even stronger now for these amazing communities from this day forward... God has SWFL in his hands.

The hundreds of workers on the island have been making great progress working 24/7! It’s amazing what’s been done in 6 weeks. There is still much work to do, but it will be done. It’ll look a little different, but it’ll be back!

@@KenKellySWFL my husband is one of those workers. It is impressive, but we are years from recovery. I'm waiting for clearance to begin the estuary cleanup. Machinery will not be allowed into the mangroves. It will take thousands of man hours to remove the debris.... As I said, a long road is ahead of us.

we were just there a month or two ago. Reports are that the lighthouse survived, but all the buildings are gone. So is most of the rest of the island. So sad. We pray for all the people who have been hurt by this monster storm.
