Do you know how much camera equipment, memory cards, hard drives, computers, drones etc. are needed to create such a successful vlog channel? Compare the financial costs of these things to simply letting someone come and film on your property while you cook food and work on your farm, which you'd be doing anyway. I think this idea that many people have ,that Matthew and Mokko started a business together is a misconseption.Matthew started a chanel,Rass Kitchen [Rastafarian Kitchen] which would feature many different Rasta's cooking their ital meals.Mokko became the featured personality because his videos viewership were very high. However, Mokko was still only just an employee of Rass Kitchen Production.Sadly, he didnt know that ,nor does many people, up to this point. There were a lot of guests running away from his Airbnb because they were scammed there, had to pay way more money than first agreed, were asked for all kinds of extra fees, couldn’t sleep in a cabin but had to stay in a tent in the yard, etc. I’ve heard prices of 140USD a night for two persons, extra fees for electricity, wifi, food, etc. and Coppy getting aggressive when the guests tried to leave. Also the family was yelling at each other and fighting all the time, no friendly atmosphere there at all.

The Ras needs to be adequately compensated. Why create a GoFundme account and not release the funds to the Ras? This is clearly an issue of fraud. There needs to be transparency regarding this issue. $330 a month for five people is one thing (if its agreed upon) though clearly a small amount. But collecting money under false pretense is unacceptable. The channel should be audited over the 10 years; and the Ras fairly compensated for his contribution.

First, he conveniently forgets or omitted the source, the person who was telling Matthew to give him 50% second, I just here moko say his thing nake cool river something and Matthew said we can call it ras moko. Therefore Matthew came up with the. Name. Moko gave impression when thi came out that he came up with the name. Third, he could have continued to use his cool river name to continue to promote his thing and license that. Just as I said in last post, ras moko was not interested in investing into the videos when it wasn't making money and if he was to interested he would have had to invest money into that business, when it wasn't making money. He wasn't interested. After if got interesting and his 50% demand is unrealistic and you should have told him that. You should have explained to him that he can't get 50% when he didn't share into the risk when he didn't think it was going anywhere. Since he said so many people used to come and do cooking videos, why is it that only Matthew videos took off??? Why he not asking those other people for money off rheir videos. Its very bad that as a rasta you are speaking to Mokko and encouraging this mentality. At the end of the day, they worked together for over 10 years and things went bad. They should go their seperate ways and prosper in their own endeavours moving forward. Why would Matthew pay Mokko 50% when all of the hard work/cost to travel to Jamaica from Canada, buy the camera and computer equipment, get the different angles in very good quality video, film the videos, Matthew be in the videos himself, get the music licencing, time spent to edit the videos and the cost of the software to do it, administer the youtube channel etc was all done by Matthew. All Mokko did was be there for the videos! That doesn’t entitle him to 50%, he should be realistic and fellow Ras shouldn't encourage his greed. Mokko said that Matthew sent money to the family monthly, although a lot of content included Mokko, there was also some that did not include him even from 12 years ago if you look back so why was that not enough? Its not as if to say he never gave them anything. He raised the awareness of Mokkos yard and probably got him more Air B&B bookings than he would have got without the exposure of thr channel, is Mokko splitting that 50/50 with Matthew? I assume not. Just because you film in the same place every day (in a store for example) that store isn't entitled to your revenue you generate from it so Matthew didn't have to do this, he agreed to be filmed and in turn Matthew sent them money monthly. As a host the professional thing to do is not to take or assume a side. because you were not there. You don't know how much of what mockko is saying is accurate, embellished, misunderstood or just flat out lies. Remember everybody story sounds convincing until you hear the other side. One thing I know no for certain mokko don't deserve 50% because you have to consider equipment cost and editing travel cost all to which he don't contribute to out of pocket.

The difference is the other people where not creating content solely around Mokko and his family. They just went there made content and go. Matthew problem was he made his channel solely about Mokko and his family they where the main reason everyone turned in. Mokko stated this in the interview so he is full aware of content creators who vlog and go but Matthew turned Mokko and his family into a project (a Show/series of some sort) Now would you not want to be payed for that. If ever 2/3 months you turn up and me must ready for you to film me and come with you log of cooking ideas telling me, me must cook this and that and must go here and there and stop work me land to cook. (Mokko was not on that cause he didn’t sign up to be told what to do) Make is make sense. What Matthew is doing now is what he should have done in the beginning. If I have business and you want to come and film am like sure come but if you want come everyday all year and schedule out what I should be doing and going then yes we will talk payment. If you just filming content of yourself in my establishment and enjoy yourself I make one or two appearances say hi and go bout my day then No payment needed because you doing your thing but from you start with do this do that I need to be here there and everywhere, now that is a production and that’s a different thing (sounds like work and that calls for payment)

But I would walk away if he wanted 50% I'm sure he'd want 90% 2 years down the road. Moko didn't think ras kitchen was going to be this big 10 to 12 years ago so he didn't feel any incentive to invest initially as he would be putting in money and not getting anything out for it's initial start up years. Alot of the old videos get views after the channel picks up. Only Matthew believed in what he was doing, at a time when making money off youtube wasn't popular. But him coming out of film school at the time, he could forsee the potential yiutube could have, but it was still a risk, a huge risk. It's only when the channel starts to do well, which we still don't know what Matthew's profits are after 10 years of expenses, that moko got interested. To keep him on and to keep things going I would offer him no more than 10% once and for all. 10% is extremely generous so moko should be willing to accept 5%. People have to realise that mokko was not getting the traffics on the internet. So even if he was on another website or on another channel, it was not the same exposure as when Matthew got involved.

@@Sutherland.. of course mokko should grow and Matthew was helping with that. What we need to clarify is what Matthew has sent to mokko. Matthew says he has all the wire transfer receipts. And then we need to see mokko’s bank accounts. We also need to see Matthew’s expenses, what the channel makes and a very clear idea of what Matthew believes what the agreement was between them and the same for mokko. I believe that Matthew sent the money by wire transfer every month to a bank account and given cash whenever he’s was in Jamaica. But the content is Matthew’s. What mokko should have done is ask Matthew to show him how to promote his own channel and brand his cool vibes cottages and still make the videos with Matthew. That would have been better than calling Matthew a scammer and a thief.
If you look at the go fund me page, Matthew has posted a screenshot of a payment that he sent to mokko. Matthew states he sent all the donations to mokko each month. Maybe mokko needs to show his bank statements from the last 10 years from his 2 bank accounts.

Because they weren't business partners legally. If they had gotten sued for defamation Matthew would be the one responsible for the judgment and attorney fees. Do you under stand that 50%ownership means 50% in profits expenses and LOSS??? Therefore, Matthew's expenses to travel and expenses for equipment would come out of money moko would have had to INVEST in the business initially. They would both own those cameras and computer used to edit, etc. I'm sure moko would not have been interested, nor did he have the capacity to make the investment. We don't know if Matthew took out bank loans or if his family loaned him money to get this off the ground. He could have failed easily. If they got sued 10 years after they start to make money and share 50/50, they would also pay half the verdict if found guilty of defamation, for example. That's how business thing go. They were never business partners. Matthew paid for his trips, equipment and accommodation and paid moko as well. Therefore, moko was an employer. I am sure Matthew had a number of years when he wasn't making any money at all, all he was doing was putting money in, and moko was getting money out as an employee.

Yes brother, no matter how anyone looks at it, the main problem of the situation is $. When lots of $ involved it creates problems, troubles, why they needed a writen Contract done up by a lawyer, if Mokko was to get 30% or 40%, then he is entitled the correct amount of $.if not he should go out on his own, make a better show and keep more of the $, all good
Things to consider: #1 Mokko had a business before Matthew came into play and generated X amount a year #2 Matthew created a TH-cam channel and Mokko generated X amount a year after the creation #3 Go Fund situation #4 Did the TH-cam creation involve Mokko getting residuals #5 Did the TH-cam exposure that generated more revenue/bookings bring any residual to Matthew i.e. Free stays/meals amenities? Matthew Videography and editing definitely mad the project look very well he's not a very easy person to follow more time. Lighting, sound effect,cuts blends everything was all on point all the way down to the echo on. What? Standard is to get NOTHING but use the publicity for advertising your own business or content channel. You get maybe a few bucks for the gig. And then: 50% taxes in Canada. -camera and drone equipment (~20.000USD) -intro production costs -editing software license cost -music licensing costs -airplane tickets costs -transportation costs -video editing costs / time (the higher the quality, the higher the investment) -maintaining TH-cam channel (The revenue of this type of channel is also pretty low because no target audience for most advertisers) Mokkos part: standing there throwing some stuff in a pan, ramblings.

There were a lot of guests running away from his Airbnb because they were scammed there, had to pay way more money than first agreed, were asked for all kinds of extra fees, couldn’t sleep in a cabin but had to stay in a tent in the yard, etc.
I’ve heard prices of 140USD a night for two persons, extra fees for electricity, wifi, food, etc. and Coppy getting aggressive when the guests tried to leave.
Also the family was yelling at each other and fighting all the time, no friendly atmosphere there at all.

The Ras needs to be adequately compensated. Why create a GoFundme account and not release the funds to the Ras? This is clearly an issue of fraud. There needs to be transparency regarding this issue. $330 a month for five people is one thing (if its agreed upon) though clearly a small amount. But collecting money under false pretense is unacceptable. The channel should be audited over the 10 years; and the Ras fairly compensated for his contribution.

First, he conveniently forgets or omitted the source, the person who was telling Matthew to give him 50% second, I just here moko say his thing nake cool river something and Matthew said we can call it ras moko. Third, he could have continued to use his cool river name to continue to promote his thing and license that. Its very bad that as a rasta you are speaking to Mokko and encouraging this mentality. At the end of the day, they worked together for over 10 years and things went bad. They should go their seperate ways and prosper in their own endeavours moving forward.
Why would Matthew pay Mokko 50% when all of the hard work/cost to travel to Jamaica from Canada, buy the camera and computer equipment, get the different angles in very good quality video, film the videos, Matthew be in the videos himself, get the music licencing, time spent to edit the videos and the cost of the software to do it, administer the youtube channel etc was all done by Matthew. All Mokko did was be there for the videos! That doesn’t entitle him to 50%, he should be realistic and fellow Ras shouldn't encourage his greed. Mokko said that Matthew sent money to the family monthly, although a lot of content included Mokko, there was also some that did not include him even from 12 years ago if you look back so why was that not enough? Its not as if to say he never gave them anything. He raised the awareness of Mokkos yard and probably got him more Air B&B bookings than he would have got without the exposure of thr channel, is Mokko splitting that 50/50 with Matthew? I assume not. Just because you film in the same place every day (in a store for example) that store isn't entitled to your revenue you generate from it so Matthew didn't have to do this, he agreed to be filmed and in turn Matthew sent them money monthly. Do you think all the other guests on the channel and any other channel for that matter are being paid? Probably not!

As a host the professional thing to do is not to take or assume a side. because you were not there. The difference is the other people where not creating content solely around Mokko and his family. They just went there made content and go. Matthew problem was he made his channel solely about Mokko and his family they where the main reason everyone turned in. Mokko stated this in the interview so he is full aware of content creators who vlog and go but Matthew turned Mokko and his family into a project (a Show/series of some sort) Now would you not want to be payed for that. If ever 2/3 months you turn up and me must ready for you to film me and come with you log of cooking ideas telling me, me must cook this and that and must go here and there and stop work me land to cook. (Mokko was not on that cause he didn’t sign up to be told what to do) Make is make sense. What Matthew is doing now is what he should have done in the beginning. Film different people and move on to the next. When he started to film Mokko first his intent was to create a TV series but he got turn down by TV executives they told him No! “It wouldn’t translate! He did mention this in one of his early explanations (old videos about how it started) …. Young college leaver just left college looking for Rustic Ital lifestyle…stumbled on Mokko Riverside cool cottage, He liked what he saw and reached out, the rest is history…
If I have business and you want to come and film am like sure come but if you want come everyday all year and schedule out what I should be doing and going then yes we will talk payment. If you just filming content of yourself in my establishment and enjoy yourself I make one or two appearances say hi and go bout my day then No payment needed because you doing your thing but from you start with do this do that I need to be here there and everywhere, now that is a production and that’s a different thing (sounds like work and that calls for payment)
@@gd1807 yes, he got paid. What he should be asking for a raise of pay, not 50% of the business. If we're Matthew I would have offered him up to 10% one time only deal. But I would walk away if he wanted 50% I'm sure he'd want 90% 2 years down the road. This is why, if you think you are a star and you aren't being paid enough you get someone else to work for or work with who can get you more money. Since moko thinks he's that special he can get a honest black rasta man who will do all that Matthew did. But u know what, moko would have to finance it; something he didn't do for ras kitchen. He would have to pay the rasta man he working with and his travel expenses, and buy and maintain equipment. Moko had no financial investment in the channel when it was being formed although he had the opportunity. He also had no legal exposure/liability coz he was an employee. If moko said something disparaging in one of the videos and ras kitchen got sued for defamation, Matthew/ras kitchen is the one who would have to pay. Investors make investments and share in profits and losses. Moko didn't think ras kitchen was going to be this big 10 to 12 years ago so he didn't feel any incentive to invest initially as he would be putting in money and not getting anything out for it's initial start up years. Alot of the old videos get views after the channel picks up. Only Matthew believed in what he was doing, at a time when making money off youtube wasn't popular. But him coming out of film school at the time, he could forsee the potential yiutube could have, but it was still a risk, a huge risk. It's only when the channel starts to do well, which we still don't know what Matthew's profits are after 10 years of expenses, that moko got interested. To keep him on and to keep things going I would offer him no more than 10% once and for all. 10% is extremely generous so moko should be willing to accept 5%.
Michael Jordan's shoe deal came as a result of him forgoing his contract payment of 30million for a percentage exchange in air jordan AT THE INCEPTION OF HIM SIGNING THE NIKE DEAL. Before the shoes got into the market place and establish it'd value. If he got accused of rape a month after the launch and consumers decided to trash his shoes, him and Nike would loose. If he had taken the money then came the allegations, only Nike would loose. That's why he got so rich off of it. And then we need to see mokko’s bank accounts. We also need to see Matthew’s expenses, what the channel makes and a very clear idea of what Matthew believes what the agreement was between them and the same for mokko. I believe that Matthew sent the money by wire transfer every month to a bank account and given cash whenever he’s was in Jamaica. But the content is Matthew’s.

Do you under stand that 50%ownership means 50% in profits expenses and LOSS??? Therefore, Matthew's expenses to travel and expenses for equipment would come out of money moko would have had to INVEST in the business initially. They would both own those cameras and computer used to edit, etc. I'm sure moko would not have been interested, nor did he have the capacity to make the investment. We don't know if Matthew took out bank loans or if his family loaned him money to get this off the ground. He could have failed easily. If they got sued 10 years after they start to make money and share 50/50, they would also pay half the verdict if found guilty of defamation, for example. That's how business thing go. They were never business partners. Matthew paid for his trips, equipment and accommodation and paid moko as well. Therefore, moko was an employer. I am sure Matthew had a number of years when he wasn't making any money at all, all he was doing was putting money in, and moko was getting money out as an employee.

He is free to go his way and use his skills now and get into a contract that suits him since they can't work it out. But for moko to be entitled to that percentage he would have had to invest in this from the beginning and experienced loss when Matthew was going through that phase not knowing if he would be able to get his money back. Moko took no risk. None. That's how it will play out in court, not how your mind tells it will. It could have failed and Matthew could have lost everything he invested as others have. That's a leach mentality.
