  • I never realized what passport privilege even was until traveling with Dikpal with his Nepalese passport. The Nepali passport is ranked 110, contrary to the US passport ranked 5th in the world.
While attempting to enter Costa Rica, Dikpal was denied entry and DEPORTED. I voluntarily went with him, even though I was granted entry with no problem. The reason Dikpal was deported was his US ID was due to expire in 5 months time, after consulting the Costa Rican consulate in the US he was told there would be no issues. Upon arrival in San Jose Airport in Costa Rica, he was told that he must have 6 months validity on his ID to enter the country and deported on the spot.
Watch this episode to see what happened during the deportation process.

This was one of my favorite videos. You can tell Meaghan is really loosing it when she progressively gets weirder and weirder. The sass about DD not having the pillow was the icing on the cake. travel fails actually make great videos lol

Wait this doesn't make sense... he can get into the States but not to CRC?! Why? My last recollection is that, if you have the American visa, you can also travel to CRC without any problems...

I read the response in another comment... "ID not in effect to enter the county, due the expiration date". Nothing to do with the precedence of his passport.

We had no issue for Meaghan (US passport). The reason Dikpal (Nepalese passport) was deported was his US ID was due to expire in 5 months time, after consulting the Costa Rican consulate in the US he was told there would be no issues. When we arrived in Costa Rica, he was told that he must have 6 months validity on his US ID in addition to his passport to enter the country and deported on the spot. Unlike Meaghan, he could not just show his passport and enter the country which is why we referred to this as passport privilege.

Unfortunately, all of this conversation was done via phone so there was nothing to show at the airport to the immigration officials.
