    Translation:
    It is possible to exceed
It is possible to achieve true freedom
    And immediately, rebuild Keltia
And live as free Britons, as free people
Just believe, and we'll have health and strength
To get there, where dreams live
It is possible to walk over the world without evil
It is possible to navigate to the city of perfection
    *****
    VOYAGE TO THE ISLAND (b)
All you small peoples of this world let you believe
All you small peoples must resist and live
As rich as America is each of you my friends
Stronger than Siberian bear if you can free your minds

I'm Breton, but I don't know my own language ;-; Mostly because my parents were born in other regions and their parents didn't teach them, which is sad, since they never lived with the actual culture or anything. I'm gonna learn the language and more culture. It's sad that not many people know it and the Celt/Breton culture... They don't even share the same history and blood as the French, so it would be more appropriate to make the region a country once again. When I meet people I'd once to tell them that I'm Breton, not French. I'm 14, and hope that I'll actually oearn to speak it fluently, and learn more about the culture. Beautiful culture and language, and I'm more than proud of having Breton and Celtic blood in me :)

French linguistic policies after the revolution were borderline criminal, not to mention hypocritical towards their own principles in my opinion. To seek to kill a culture is one of the worst things one can do. Hopefully, Breton and other Celtic languages - I'm learning Gaelic - can regain lost ground in the years to come.

Greetings from Canada. It is always painful and sad to hear disappearing ancient languages. It's like witnessing a culture fade into history. We have a fair share here unfortunately - Algonquin has less than 3000 speakers here in Canada. And there are a few languages with even less.

    • @rotor_85
      @rotor_85 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Keeping ancient and rare languages is a personal affair of those nations. Actually, no one prevents them from talking their own tongues. If they don't have a desire to save their unique culture, all your efforts will be useless. The culture of each nation is mysterious and unique but at the same I have to say that assimilation is a quiet normal and natural process that has always existed. I think it makes no sense to worry so much about that.

@@rotor_85 that's just plain wrong. many people of celtic descent throughout history were ridiculed and publicly mocked if they were caught using their native tongue, kept from getting jobs and participating in school. just for speaking their own language.

@@rotor_85 that is true nowadays especially with the internet, anyone can learn if they want to. but the incentive has been lost, since the older generations stopped teaching their kids out of fear they wouldn't be able to properly integrate into society. and they weren't wrong. but because of that the # of native tongue speakers dropped over 90%. it wasn't simply because they didn't want to or didn't care, they were forced out of it.

Nationalism historically brought wars. The "globalist utopia" is an attempt to forego war. There should be a way to allow people the expression of their individual cultures and yet not sink into nationalistic strife. As an American Indian of the Choctaw Nation, I may live within the territorial boundaries of the United States, but I attempt to maintain my culture and the Choctaw language (Chahta anompah).
I personally do not wish to return to war.

Here in Finland the situation is such, that 95% of people are forced to study in school forcible language that only 5% of the countrys population speaks.
    This language is swedish.
Finland was 600 years under swedish control and finnish language oppression. Shortly, as well as bretons..
Today RKP=Swedish peoples party requires us to study forced swedish language in school.
RKP is very rich and powerful party in Finland.
The RKP has very big power over the others.
It is very funny, is it not?

No, I can learn finnish, but swedish language is even today compulsory for all children in our schools.
    They cannot choose for themselves.
Finland is last colony in europe where former lords of the language are required.
200 year ago my ancestors were not able to study finnish.
Because finnish language was the peasant´s language and trash. Better people´s spoke swedish because it was lord´s language.

Was the B-side written/recorded during the Cold War? I just get that vibe from the comparison of "all you small peoples" to America and to something which was a symbol of the USSR.

    croeso, your welcome,
i hope and wish, that european union puts diplomatic pressure on paris, until "brezhoneg is recognized as language of culture & breizh is given autonomy from paris,...
until this happens friends in cornwall, ireland, scotland, isle of man & wales, should "promote brezhoneg"...
if catalunya can have autonomy in espana.,within europe, then why not breizh/brittany...?
this is in controvention of european union laws....
will it take boycott of french goods, sanctions on paris?
"diplomatic pressure from republic of ireland, wales government & scotland government ?
something needs too happen, my heart and mind is with all bretons, of course there is the
interceltic festival in lorient, but this is not simply not enough.....
maybe one day soon brezhoneg will be taught in all schools & national language in breizh, used widely in the government... we all hope so...

yes, the french government, does not respect the european charter of regional languages, both corsican, brezhoneg and the occitian languages in the south*related too catalan-language d provencal....
are considerd by the republic as unofficial..
french is the only and offical language of the republic, as stiupulated by napoleon, despite duchess ann of breizh- being a powerfull political figure, and brittany not even being part of france until the 16th century...
