This particular song was written by the bass, Ryota and the drummer, Tomoya that is why is heavy in those two instruments. They are extremely talented musicians. All of them including the lead singer Taka play multiple instruments.

for some of their heavier stuff, please check out ONE OK ROCK - 3xxxv5 Take Me To The Top LIVE specifically the one with green haired Taka(vocalist)
most of their songs are written and composed by the vocalist but essentially it is all a collaborative effort by all four members.

Most of their older songs are written mainly by Taka and the band members. While the recent songs are with producers and some of their friends. But one thing is for sure, they are all mainly involve in the song writing process.
My recommendation is The Beginning in Eye of the Storm tour.

Taka lives in LA and records there also. Because of that he has met a lot of artist that help with their songs. Brendon Urie even helped tweak one of their songs “Neon”, just cause he happened to be recording in the same studio at that time.

8:15 All of the music from their 2007 debut album until now is written by mainly Taka (vocalist) as the main songwriter and the band writing music, although the band also write songs, as there's quite a few songs which various band members have written, with the guitarist Toru being the next most credited songwriter on quite a lot of tracks alongside Taka, and also has some solo written tracks. But generally the band write their own parts and Taka writes lyrics.
From around 2017 when they joined a new label they started writing music more on the poppier side, and their 2017 record is more like a pop-rock/pop punk album, and their 2019 album is more like a straight up pop/light pop rock album, while their 2022 album is a dive back into their rockier sound but not in the post-hardcore/hard rock style of their older albums, more like a varied assortment of rock styles. Their 2017 record is mostly co-written between Taka and 1 or 2 foreign songwriters. They started working with foreign producers in their 2015 record and then some foreign songwriters in 2017 as they went more pop in sound. The 2019 record is much the same with songwriting shared between taka and songwriters they worked with in the 2017 album. Their 2022 album is co-written again with more foreign producers with different guys from the 2017/19 records, more known for writing more rock/metal stuff (Guys like Rob Cavallo, Dan Lancaster - guys who have produced/written with the likes of Linkin Park, MCR, Bring Me The Horizon, Muse, Blink-182 etc) and the album also has a songwriting feature on the song "Renegades" from Ed Sheeran, which you reacted to last week. Taka and Ed are good friends and they've even brought each other out at concerts to perform with each other.

Trust me, we care. That's why we follow them.
They're not only versatile, but they don't follow common formulas; particularly the drums and bass. If you add that to the power of Taka and Toru.
    Perfection.
    Love from Argentina

Omg! So happy you reacted to Deeper Deeper and liked it! Thank you!
About your questions, like another comment stated this song in particular was composed by drummer Tomoya and bassist Ryouta, but Taka (vocalist) and Toru (guitar) also help with composition and lyrics, with Taka being the main lyricist.
They do collab with other producers and composers, even with some well-known names in the west like Ed Sheeran.

This is one of the band's older songs, and back then, the band would write their lyrics and music by themselves. The music for this particular track was written by Tomoya (drummer) and Ryota (bass) during a late night session. Ryota randomly played those opening notes and it caught Tomoya's attention. "Play that again!" he said, and the rest is history.
Taka (vocals) is the main lyricist for the band. Starting with their album 35xxxv from 2015, they began to collab more on the music and lyrics, though it was still mainly the band writing. After that, the've been working more with outside producers and lyricists to make their music (Taka's still always in the credits but we don't often see "ONE OK ROCK" listed anymore. However, the band still works on the live arrangements for concerts). Their latest album Luxury Disease (English translation of the title of their first album, Zeitakubyou) was produced by Rob Cavallo and he seems to be working with them on their upcoming album too so I think we can expect great things.
Glad you really enjoyed this song. I think it's one of the best songs to experience the control that the band has over the crowd with the synchronized clapping, jumping, head banging, "hey!" calls, etc. You get a real workout when seeing it live in person lol.

Great reaction! For another heavier song, check out "Mighty Long Fall" (from the same concert at Yokohama: th-cam.com/video/i7seozLvbHw/w-d-xo.html). For an epic Queen-inspired song from their latest album Luxury Disease, check out their performance of "When They Turn the Lights On" (th-cam.com/video/MQCd9KRhWq0/w-d-xo.html)

There are plenty of songs to recommend, I don't think I have listened to any of their songs and thought it was just "a song". If you are looking for harder sounding, you want earlier songs, if you are looking for more pop, a lot of their later stuff matches that genre. But that said, almost every album will have a mix of sounds. A few harder songs: Take me to the top, Liar, Juvenile, Ending Story, One by One. A few lighter but great: Take what you want, Fight the Night, Wasted Nights, Heartache. All of their newest album focuses on classic rock styles with influences from all over, including but not limited to Queen. I would recommend the whole album, but specifically: When they turn the lights on, Your tears are mine, So far gone, Gravity, Prove.
