How it works is the pilot holds the trigger down while the onboard computers will calculate where the enemy plane is with the radar, when the pilot points the plane in the right direction the plane decides when to let loose with the bullets in a volley of just a few rounds. This keeps it from depleting it's ammo in one trigger pull and makes it to where the plane will never miss. Also, a single 30mm round will destroy even the largest planes out there

If I remember correctly, modern airliners have redundant control systems specifically to still be able to control the plane in the case that the main system fails, so it would have to be a very lucky shot to take out both. But that's just one way for a single 30mm to take out a 747. Explosive decompression is devastating to large aircraft at high altitude.
I know it's just a movie and as a jet fighter nerd I can enjoy it for what it is, but honestly, our "hero" should have his wings stripped from him effective immediately. That jet he's flying is, like, 7th generation technology or something? Against a 4++ gen fighter and he's having so much difficulty he actually gets SHOT?? The mere fact that Sukhoi made it to the merge means our hero failed in his primary mission - to remain stealthy. This whole movie is such a weird combination of knowing stuff and emphatically not knowing stuff. The EDI is a unmanned combat plane, but for some reason has new airframe that still has a cockpit instead of not a new airframe or no cockpit. The talon seems to use phased pulse jet engines and seems to form a waverider style body with its wings retracted but the design of the nose would prevent it from flying in a straight line. The EDI airframe shares this trait and has the other classic dumb movie fighter jet trait, dorsal intakes, which don’t work in high alpha turns.
The Talon jets aren't designed as air to air combat fighters, more of a stealth fighter/bomber role. The fact that it can hold its own against a dedicated interceptor plane even a less advanced one is actually pretty good. Its more like an A-10 warthog facing off against a squadron of Spitfires; Yes the Spitfires are clearly at a tech disadvantage but the A-10 isn't designed to attack other planes. (Though thats probably not a good example up since the A-10 could probably tank the Spitfires machine guns pretty good.)

1:04 : This scene always makes me get goosebumped. Because of the sound, camera view, but most of all, It's getting real in these days. UAV can do much more dramatic and drastic movements compared to manned Aerial vehicle because of faster calculation and no press from gravity. I'm looking at the Talon, and DAMN does it remind me of a Wyvern. And let's be honest, this is the closest thing we're gonna get to an Ace Combat movie. We got cool plane sequences, resistance to the laws of physics, superplanes, and a rogue AI. All that's missing is a giant superweapon that the main character has to blow up.

The Sukhoi's are very unstable at lower speeds which means they have a smaller turning circle, if we take some Sukhoi Variants that have 3D thrust vectoring then that ability is enhanced even more. F15 is an agile fighter but it is outclassed by something like a Sukhoi 30 or 35 in terms of maneuverability. The F15 is deadly because it can shoot the target out of the sky without having to go near it while Sukhois have to get closer to the target to be able to effectively engage. An F16 is a much more agile dogfighter than the F15 and even that could barely keep up with some Sukhois

Everyone complaining about how unrealistic this movie is... It's supposed to be. The goal was to make intense, fast-paced action scenes. And they succeeded. The film itself might be trash, but the action scenes are _really_ good. Some of the most intense dogfighting I've ever seen.
Plus it actually uses the *correct* terminology of "UCAV" to refer to EDI instead of every other movie/game out there that calls all drones "UAVs" which should only be reserved for non-combat drones. Looking at you, Ace Combat 7...
Actually they have a right to complain. Even though there were only 2 Su 37s built, the Sukhois have a well known history for it's capability to out maneuver and intense dogfight capabilities. By looking at the visual design of the US stealth fighters, they have 0 advantages of even fairing a dogfight against sukhoi, and have 0 capability to maneuver like that, even though it's a 6th gen plane. Now you can also do that in Ace Combat 7 in PS4. To do it: -press the L2 to Reduce your speed less than 450-400km (if you use KM units) -Once you've done that, release L2 for a split second. And press both L2 and R2 at the same time and pull down the left stick, and you'll be able to do a post-stall maneuver, like the Cobra and Kulbit.
Then some of what we see here could be possible. But you would have to make those drones more durable otherwise you could rip the wings off of the craft.

You know the f/A-37 Talon that's behind the Su-37 in the 2005 film stealth, I hope Bandai Namco and Project Aces would be able to add that particular aircraft to the multirole category in Ace Combat 7 or in a future Ace Combat game.
Project Aces would have to talk to the producers to be able to use the design. For a movie 15 years ago, the EDI and the F/A-37 looks futuristic enough.
Historically, only one SU-37 was built in 1995. I was a single seat air superiority fighter intended for the export market. No one showed any real interest and development ceased after the aircraft crashed in December 2002 due to structural failure.

I’d say that it could be called the Aerial donut manoeuvre which somewhat maybe briefly stalls and does like a 360 turn whilst at low speed then going back into position to then go behind an enemy.

Everyone complaining about how unrealistic this movie is... It's supposed to be. The goal was to make intense, fast-paced action scenes. And they succeeded. The film itself might be trash, but the action scenes are _really_ good. Some of the most intense dogfighting I've ever seen.
Plus it actually uses the *correct* terminology of "UCAV" to refer to EDI instead of every other movie/game out there that calls all drones "UAVs" which should only be reserved for non-combat drones. Looking at you, Ace Combat 7...
Actually they have a right to complain. Even though there were only 2 Su 37s built, the Sukhois have a well known history for it's capability to out maneuver and intense dogfight capabilities. By looking at the visual design of the US stealth fighters, they have 0 advantages of even fairing a dogfight against sukhoi, and have 0 capability to maneuver like that, even though it's a 6th gen plane.
Not that i didn't like thr movie, or that i complained.
This isn't that unrealistic,this is probably based more on what a sixth gen fighter jet would look like.

@@superlumbagoman9370 if you want realism and logic, none of the modern fighter movie makes sense (not even top gun), AA combat starts when your radar makes annoying noise and ends with your RWR stops beeping, even in close quarters planes are still too far away from each other to be captured on screen at the same time
my guess is as soon as it went into the turn it used the vertical lift engines under the aircraft

Now you can also do that in Ace Combat 7 in PS4.
To do it:
-press the L2 to Reduce your speed less than 450-400km (if you use KM units)
-Once you've done that, release L2 for a split second. And press both L2 and R2 at the same time and pull down the left stick, and you'll be able to do a post-stall maneuver, like the Cobra and Kulbit.

You know the f/A-37 Talon that's behind the Su-37 in the 2005 film stealth, I hope Bandai Namco and Project Aces would be able to add that particular aircraft to the multirole category in Ace Combat 7 or in a future Ace Combat game.
Project Aces would have to talk to the producers to be able to use the design.
For a movie 15 years ago, the EDI and the F/A-37 looks futuristic enough.
Even the aircraft that is used by EDI gives me that Electrosphere vibes.

I’m so speechless and my jaw dropped to the floor cause that was an impossible manoeuvre that FA-37 talon jet did. I think that no fighter jet in real life can do that. I’d say that it could be called the Aerial donut manoeuvre which somewhat maybe briefly stalls and does like a 360 turn whilst at low speed then going back into position to then go behind an enemy.
