Another John Leckie-produced masterpiece...He seemingly could do no wrong with the bands he worked with in the 80's and early 90's...Great band that should have gotten MUCH more recognition...so many great songs on 'Mania'. So glad it got reissued...Thanks for this!
The Lucy Show changed my life..... I am biased but it seems FM College rock in the mid 80's to the mid 90's was the pinnacle of rock music. It has been in the shitter ever since.
These guys were the best of New Wave. I bought their "Resistance" single and the "Undone" album just after I got to college. That was a good year. Had it on all the time...
+gel6988 --- yeah, their early material when they were a quartet was very comsat angels--y and a little early cure--ish sounding. by mania they were mostly a duo with a few sidemen.
One of those bands in the extreme minority that doesn't have a single weak song. A colossal sin that they didn't achieve wider acclaim but lucky for us few who are among the experienced
@djdudemanhey amEN TO THAT !! This was the TOPS of everything ! The Lucy Show was one of those great bands that came from that period. Back then, I seriously thought ANYTHING was possible. It was an also a very optimistic time to live.
@djdudemanhey It was. Although I do listen to new music.. there are good bands out there, you have to just know where to look. But my musical tastes were forged in that era, and it was indeed the pinnacle. I love this album, it's still up there in my top 20 somewhere..
still one of the best underrated new wave songs ever. so in love with this song from the first time i heard it...

I was turned on to this band when I lived in CA. I thought the UNDONE album was amazing. This is a great song also.....
I remember really liking this "Mania" album, which I had on - yes - vinyl, in the late 80s. Thanks for posting this.
This, as well as their earlier release entitled: Undone were simply brilliant!

I agree with you about the 80s and College rock, but I'd say that the best of it was from '81-'88. Of course, that's my bias speaking here.
Is this the same "Lucy Show" that I would have seen back in 1986?
What inspired them to call themselves the Lucy Show?
They were Canadian, right?
The ending shot struck me as hilarious for some reason
