    In 40 years he still remains my #1 guitar hero. That one chance in my life I had to meet him and sit at the feet of my master, I'll never forget, Bob James, in that New York accent telling me "Larry doesn't party man."

    What’s most amazing about Larry Carlton is how humble he is. A lot of guys that are fantastic players, develop big egos. But Larry is as down to earth as can be. Truly one of those humble giants.

    • @W.O.P.R

      Your comment is a tribute to Larry’s career. This man could play it all, but didn’t over-ride the spotlight. I find that mostly jazz players have this kind of mentality, certainly not all of them. But a true player gives to the music just what it needs and just a little more. When I see someone like Larry here just enjoying the moment instead of trying to steal it, it draws me more towards musicians like him. Great stuff!

      Yes it is and I own one first lot same burst color, and it’s great. Larry Designed the PUPs. Their west coast PAF sound. But it is capable of a brighter bridge. Ebony fret board and great workmanship.When these guitars turn 30 40 years old everyone is going to want one. I had to wait almost 6 months to get it. Not as valuable but play and sound great.

      Just FYI… I couldn’t buy one in the US, so bought mine from Thomann. With a very nice hard shell case, and shipping, it only cost me $20 more than buying the guitar alone from a U.S. distributor. They have great pricing on all guitars, especially high end guitars!

    • @freddymclain
      @freddymclain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kurtbuchholz920 the first time i played for a live audience was on Chicago's southside. I met three black guys at Lyon & Healey music downtown in the loop. The 4th floor was given to stringed instruments of every kind, and they had little glassed-in audition rooms WITH AMPLIFIERS. They heard me playing my best B.B.King licks and asked me if i was working that night. They CAME AND PICKED ME UP at my relatives' home and carted me over to the southside to a club. I played someone's tele through a Fender amp (don't remember the model). The year was 1961, so the sight of a white boy playing the blues was a novel thing. They took me home after the gig and dropped me off and my poor aunt nearly soiled her britches she was so worried. She had called my mother in Houston to tell her what i'd done, but my mom was unconcerned. I had a great time that night, and the whole experience solidified my infatuation with the guitar, which became a lifelong affair.
      I'm 80 now, but that night on Chicago's southside stands out in mind. Some gigs you don't forget.
