- This video shows about the favorite food of my ducklings. From day 1 they need soft feed mixed with water so they can easily eat. They like wheat bran and boiled rice or any chicken commercial feed. Remember they need lots of water not only for swimming but for drinking.
My home breed ducklings visit our grapes and peach farm. Baby duck enjoy swimming and eating.

Duck starter is better than chicken feed because it has added niacin which they need for their bill development! If anybody gets up make sure you get the non-medicated kind though apparently that can cause problems
I was never sure what the issue was for medicated chick starter and ducklings but just read it has to do with them eating much more than chicks and over-medicating themselves which can lead to organ failure.
And be sure to remember that having anything too much over 18% protein could cause a condition called Angel Wings and may lead to death.

Yes you can take them out for sunlight for a while. Any chicks food with water is suitable for ducklings.
