I have the HG8247U and I don't have any of the options that are shown in your security tab. I am trying to do the same as you but it wont let me choose the usb device. It reads the HDD but won't let me choose. Is it possible to upgrade the router's firmware or I am stuck with that. I do'nt understand why it would have the option for usb applicaion but won't let you use it.
I have tried with 3 different USB memories I have but none of these appears on the list, it says There's no USB device, I have tried by restarting the device, loggin out and then loggin in again but nothing, Do you have any idea about what can be the problem?

The hardware must match the software.

@@TalkinTechStuff tried multiple drives. Both in FAT32 and NTFS. Enabled in security. Cannot download config. Path empty and device list also empty.

It's not possible on FTP. You can only transfer and see files on the remote system through FTP.
