      Yes exactly really are not a problem to humans it’s the fear some humans have of snakes that is the problem we have always had Red Bellies around our farm they know us and we treat them with respect and we rarely ever see a brown . Our large population of pythons and them seem to never have any issues

    I never would have expected that when I read the title. You could actually see the brown snake injecting it's venom because sometimes when he would bite, you could see indents in it's head, where the venom glads are located--they looked hollow, as though his constrictor muscles were pushing every last itty-bitty drop of venom he had, into his predator.....But even as powerful as he was, it did no good. A great video, and thanks for uploading!!!!!!

    Just so it is clear because there seems to be a hell of a lot of confusion about the snakes in this video..
    I see a lot of people calling the Brown snake a Mamba, It's not, It is an Eastern brown snake (2nd most venomous snake)
    It is being eaten by a Red bellied black snake and this video is a great example of why the eastern brown snake is the 2nd most venomous snake on earth, This snake evolved alongside Cobras like the Red belly that eat it and as a result has some of the most potent venom on earth. This same thing is also true for the most venomous snake (Inland Taipan) and the 3rd most venomous snake (Tiger snake) which are both eaten by Red bellied black snakes and Mulga snakes.

    From what I understand, even though the brown is the second most potent snake in the world, their venom is more effective on mammals. The red belly venom is more effective against reptiles. Kind of ironic that the red belly is a lot less harmful to humans (still pretty fucking bad), but a nightmare for the brown snake.

    Some people here in the United States keep them for pets and breed them in captivity. They will readily eat mice. They are venomous but it usually isn't deadly to people. A friend of mine got bit by his. He had pain, swelling, headache, bleeding and upset stomach but was back to normal in just a few days. They do not lay eggs but bear live young. They can have a tendency to become overweight in captivity because owners feed them too much.

    Often, with a RBB, the hospital will often not even use an anti-venom on a snake bite victim as it's rarely fatal ... mainly is quite painful. Mind you, a RBB snake that's large, like this one would have quite a venomous load.

      It actually might not have been envenomated as eastern browns are notoriously short fangs. The fangs might not have made it through the black's scales.
      In any event, it's very common for different snakes to be immune to other snake's venom. I'm probably assuming this is the case here. It is a common thing for larger snakes to predate upon smaller snakes.

    The brown snake is not a black mamba. Black mambas live in Africa, this is Australia. It's called a common brown and it's more venomous than any mamba, and it's more venomous than the red belly snake that ate it. It's like #2 or #3 in the world

      3rd or 4th depending on who you ask! It's based on something called the LD50 test and it's done on mice which makes the results a bit sketchy when used for lethality in humans.

    I know that the Brown snake is highly toxic but I'm unfamiliar with the Red Bellied Black snake. Is it a constrictor or does it also have venom? Apparently it's a snake eater by nature. Here in the USA we have the King snake, a constrictor that specializes in eating other snakes. It will routinely attack and eat Rattlesnakes and is immune to the effects of the Rattler's venom.

    • @ItsAlwaysHappyHour
      @ItsAlwaysHappyHour 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jack. The Red-bellied Black Snake is part of the Elapidae family (hollow, fixed and usually frontal fanged) of venomous snakes. They are usually very shy and although their venom will make you quite sick, they are not considered "deadly" like their Eastern Brown cousin in this footage. Funny story.... I was hunting with friends about 15 years ago and we spotted what we thought was some agricultural piping laying on a hill about 40m/130ft away. One of the guys I was with took a shot at it and the "ag piping" reared up. It was a really big Red-bellied Black Snake. Now normally they will avoid confrontation, but this one took exception at being shot at. It proceeded to slither purposefully towards the stripped out Land Rover we were in, which severely panicked the Ophidiophobe (someone who is scared of snakes) sitting next to me. He was convinced it was going to climb into the vehicle with us. We fired a few more warning shots at the snake before it got too much closer and it decided against pushing the issue any further.

      Actually, no, the world's most venomous snake is the Inland Taipan, but it has never killed a human being due to the fact it does not live near the human population. The Eastern Brown Snake, however, is more widespread and people are more likely to come across it. Also, more people have been bitten and died from its bite.
      The Inland Taipan is the most venomous, but the Eastern Brown is the deadliest.
