Yeah, I'm not adjusting the volume every 30 sec lol. I don't understand why this is such a problem for so many channels these days. Is no one checking audio during the editing process? Obviously someone is playing with it, because this surely isn't original. Maybe it's a hack channel and they have to mess with the videos to get around copyright law? Just thinking out loud.

Therefore it doesn’t it’s a TH-cam or copyright issue, it’s just something that happened with this particular cut of this particular episode. Since this was the final episode it I didn’t want to miss it so I just turned on the subtitles.
For everyone complaining about the audio or opening format, remember that these were not made for TH-cam. Everything on this channel were first aired on TV. They are getting released a few years later now on TH-cam. Some of the audio issues are from this change in broadcast format. The opening makes more sense when you think of this as a weekly TV show rather than a regular TH-cam video.

Great show. I enjoyed it... Just one thing, the voice volume is so low over the music that its hard to hear. Its strange because the volume is perfect everywhere else.. Just the few voice overs over graphics thats way too low. If you ever need an extra "sound guy" I would be more than happy to help :)
That moment when you, as an American, make the connection for the first time in your life that dragons were a part of British medieval folklore because of welsh symbolism and the power struggles taking place between the two nations. Wow. I was today years old when I made that connection.
According to me King Arthur was a real person who ruled England in the 5th century. He was a very prominent figure in British history and tried his level best to protect his nation from the Anglo Saxons. He also got the Sword of Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake but I am sure probably that sword got demolished during the rule of the Anglo Saxons.
Whoever "edited" this video should be sacked!!! Way too much of it consists of EXCESSIVELY LOUD FOREGROUND music drowning out the feeble whisper of Tony trying to speak to us in the distant background!
This iS by far my favorite Absolute History production! Being 1/2 Scottish, I found it a wonderful journey of Scottish history. My Grandmother was a MacBeth & my Grandfather was s Hamilton. I'm very proud of my heritage & to be finally shown the beauty & history that isn't:tainted by war and destruction, but by it's natural beauty. The replanting of the historical foliage & trees is a monumental task to reclaim it:s former glory. Your tree huggers ROCK! beauty
I wish they could work on better audio on these videos. I love watching them, but sometimes have to use my head phones, then it suddenly blasts out loud. The title is click bait. I hoped for far more than what was presented.
I'd like to make a suggestion. I'm not a native english speaker (sorry any mistakes), so if there were an english subtitle availabe it would be amazing for me, to help me understand what's been said (not the automatic generated one, that's terrible =/)

The audio problem only happens with BBC historical documentaries. So many TH-cam uploaded series have it . I don't know why the issue hasn't been addressed. I've seen so many comment sections dominated by the topic on dozens of videos yet no uploaders seem to care. It's not TH-cam's video compression.

That's because they don't own these and are just stealing other people's content to repost and take credit for it. They have to constantly alter the audio level to avoid copyright claims. This is a Channel 4 series. I don't understand why this channel has half a million subs since nothing they post is theirs. I mean they do a good job making it look like their own content.
Arthur, Offa, Uther, all named after Hathor (Het Heru). Hera, wife of Zeus, Iraklion, Heraland (Ireland). A very well know and well loved aspect of The Goddess back in the day. She gives us the words her, hero, erotic amongst so many others. Maybe even heretic!

I am wondering if this was the sound mixers first day on the job. When you see something that says Digitally remastered, they fixed silly things like sound mixing and flaws in film ,VHS and corrupt files.

The ruins of tintern abbey would be the most romantic place to be married !!!! I would give anything to get married there! The romantics were right it’s sooo Romantic !
Really wish the audio was more even in these videos. Trying to find a comfortable volume to relax and watch is difficult. If I lower the volume so the loud parts are good then I can’t hear the quiet bits... and when I turn it up so I can hear the quiet, well it makes the loud parts way to loud. Who is your audio guy ...fire him/her, seriously.
I made it in two minutes. Note to producer, I like the shows subject. The audio sucks. Overall audio level hard to hear at full volume. Narration drowned out by irreverent "background" music. Commercials blast out much louder. I will observe next couple releases. Either figure it out or I will delete your channel. Simply annoying to try to hear. Elevator music and commercials.

TH-cam slaps it's own editing on it to "refine" the sound. Does more harm than good

The music is lovely but it's supposed to be background music not drowning out Sr Tony.

I get that, he pronounces Arthur and Offa very similarly. I have watched a few of his shows and the R is usually a soft R. So Arthur becomes Awthur

This seems to be a common audio issue with British TV and Movies. Watch any made using a British studio and you’ll experience bad audio.
