Every time I watch this it amazes me how fast and shallow his jerk is, looks like he could of done 225kg, although he would struggle cleaning it, I think he could do it.
Perhaps he had a injury and took a lot of time off, lost a bit of strength due to aging (I know it's only 4 years but can still make a small difference) or maybe he made a tiny mistake in his jerk and had to drop lower to save it. Not sure which one, Dimas had 2-3 injuries at 2004 Olympics and maybe he started to get injuries before 2000 Olympics, but the latter is also probable since even half a centremeter of difference in a jerk at maximum weights can make a difference between missing, or completing the lift.
@@herbivore5638 Don't make it more convoluted. In the power jerk/squat jerk if the bar is slightly in front or back u miss the lift. As the weights get heavier the margin of error gets smaller and smaller. So it can either look extremely easy or a complete miss. The 215 he made in Sydney was an overcorrection and overcoming that. Fucking superhuman

@astonrd Actually Pyrros had a unique press movement.He uses legs as squat.His coach was reminding him from the beginning "olo podia" which means take the load with your legs.Actually he did very little press with the arms.The second part after which says "katse kato apo tin bara" it means that he should come into an above the parallel squat position while pressing with the arms in order the arms to straighten .From the time that his arms are straight he lifts with the legs.Girevoy style.
want to see an epic 3rd pull... watch the chalk fly off Dimas' hands, that turnover speed is superb. This guy epitomizes O lifting to the max, explosive, quick lifts. Not to mention the fact that he makes it look so easy you'd think there weren't any plates on the bar at all.
@IoannisKontosIII I'm sure he could press overhead quite a bit strict. His front squat is 600lbs and back squat is 800lbs from what I understand. It takes a lot of strength period to make that lift along with great speed and flexibility.

Yeah I see what you're saying, but at Sydney 2000 he seemed to barely power jerk 215kg, so who knows. Maybe his form was perfect here.

***** It's literally translated as "sit beneath the bar" but is best translated as "stay under the bar". It's spelled " Κάτσε κάτω απ'τη μπάρα ". In the begining of the video the coach says " Όλο πόδια " which means "all legs" kind of like "focus your strength on your legs. :)

@astonrd Actually Pyrros had a unique press movement.He uses legs as squat.His coach was reminding him from the beginning "olo podia" which means take the load with your legs.Actually he did very little press with the arms.The second part after which says "katse kato apo tin bara" it means that he should come into an above the parallel squat position while pressing with the arms in order the arms to straighten .From the time that his arms are straight he lifts with the legs.Girevoy style.
want to see an epic 3rd pull... watch the chalk fly off Dimas' hands, that turnover speed is superb. This guy epitomizes O lifting to the max, explosive, quick lifts. Not to mention the fact that he makes it look so easy you'd think there weren't any plates on the bar at all.

I'm sure he could press overhead quite a bit strict. His front squat is 600lbs and back squat is 800lbs from what I understand. It takes a lot of strength period to make that lift along with great speed and flexibility.
