- How to Remove a Volkswagen Wing Fender.
Simple use tips on how to remove, replace or repair a VW mki4 Wing. This is the best way in my opinion to vinyl wrap your car, it takes a little longer overall but gives a much better result.

9 years later and still super useful. I plan to remove both fenders this summer to repaint them. This was immensely helpful. Thank you kindly!
You give me the confidence to tackle jobs that I would normally shy away from. Thank you.
Hey man cheers from the US! I've been rehabing my 2004 R32 bit by bit. For a newbie but motivated fellow, your vids are hands down the best thing on YT. It seems like I am a little late to the game and you're not posting much ATM, but I want to send you my sincere thanks for sharing you knowledge with us. You're making the internet a better place, my friend :) Take care
Thanks for the support, I really appreciate that.
Honestly your videos are the best, clear concise and to the point no mucking around like when them American videos! Keep posting mate!
Bmac vags, you've helped me through pretty much all my mk4 golf problems, bodywork, electrical even the dredded window mechanisms, just want to thank you for your videos, they have got me out of some tight situations.
Thanks brother
Brilliant guides. Very well explained and demonstrated used both this and the front bumper one to change my own. Saved me money thank you!
Thank you for your support
Dude your videos are always so easy to follow!! Keep doing what you do!
Hi mate I just came to drop a comment to say thanks for putting up the video, it helped a lot I did this today on my mk5 and this tutorial helped a lot with what needed to be done. It took me 4hrs but I got there in the end! saved me £100
Excellent, glad it helped
BMAC Your a legend thank you so much for the simple step by step videos these help so much!
Thanks, M8!
On my 2003 Golf GL, they undercoated the rear most bolt on the fender, so you could not see it. Chiseled it off to access the bolt head. There was a ratsnest of debris, sand, dirt & vegetation crammed in the same area leading into the door rocker panel area! I assume that's why they coat that bolt head. No rust though! (JHendy on YT had a Michigan salt damaged car that had rusted out fenders at this corner.) Don't misplace any of the plastic & metal anchor nuts that may remove with the plastic fenderliner. It was easier to put on the new fender. The Golf liner does not need about 20cm of the leading end which is needed on the Jetta. It is shown @ 2:10. Just trim off that end of the new one using the old one as a template with snips, heavy scissors, or a soldering gun blade. Easy enough one hour job at most not including painting. 😊
Thank you for for your support
awesome, one of the most concise dudes explaining how to VW things, thanks
Helps ALOT! I'll save a few hundred dollars doing this simple labor replacement. Love the brit accent as well. CHEERS!
Thank you very much for putting this together. Combined with the front bumper removal video, I was able to fix my Golf IV. Cheers!
Thanks so much for the help! Replaced my rusted out fenders (dirt accumulated near the junction with the rocker panels) with some nice, un-rusted junkyard fenders.
Just what I needed. Thank Bmac
I'll tell you whats great! You can order panels now already painted and ready to go. Autobody wanted $1700 to fix both sides. I ordered delivered $500 for both!. Easy to install thanks to this fine lad.
Thank you so very much for the video! I have a damaged passenger fender and this will save me a boatload of money :-)
Thank you for the tips! Gonna swap my R32 Fenders this weekend!
I know a lot about the MK3 and MK2 scene/platform, but I'm parting out a mk4 right now and your videos are a lot of help because they're kinda different . Thanks!

When you remove the fender is there any sealant where it meets the engine bay? Also, is it recommended to apply sealer when installing new fenders?
Thanks
Top simple vid majority of things i done to my MK4 worked from your vids, but with this one i tried i just couldnt get the bolts to turn at all, the paint around them just wont break, any advice
Thanks! Very clearly explained
Hi, thank you so much for your excellent videos.. I have this question: is removing the front wing on a passat similarly easy, or is it a much trickier job?
Thank You
Brilliant guide, thank you :-))
How did it go with the wing removal.
Super clear man awsome video...
thank you this was very helpful
Thanks, easy to follow
Good job buddy, but to take off the whole door itself do I need to remove the fender to get to a bolt on the outer door hinge?
Hi very well explained but I have one question, does the fender have any factory sealant?
Very helpful, I was just hit by a deer and have to replace my driver's fender and mirror.
You only need one tool a 10mm
…and a T25
….and a socket to take the wheel off 😂
Great video! Very much appreciate you making this 👍👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Awesome Video, really detailled with great tips. I have a MK5 Golf, is it basically the same to swap out he rusty wings?
Cheers, for the good video.
Cheers mate. Spot on that is!
Dope vid i liked the set up and voice over. Anyway.. how many total 10mm and t25 altogether? Just curious i dont want to pull too early and damage plastic or fender. Especially the wheel well area and the 10mm in. there. Seemed like maybe 4 or so 10mm were under the plastic shroud.
My bro is getting a tdi back together and running better to use as a daily its green and junkyard has same tdi same color, ima see to surprise him cuz his fenders are super rusty. I bet it will be cheap to buy them as well.
Great, nice straight forward video, nice one mate, nice to watch a video without all the silly bullshit. :-)
Nice clean job there!
Where does that fender blinker wire enter into the engine? I want to tap into that wire without taking the fender off. Can it be accessed in the engine bay? Thanks
Is the wing glued on aswell as bolted and would a special tool be needed to remove this glue?
I m learning everything form u
nice one, thanks for posting.
how bloody great are your vids easy to follow top bloke : ) thanyou
Glad they helped pal

hi bmac i have vw jetta 4 do you know how i can tighten the throttle cable
Hey BMAC, do you have a video of the removal of passanger side rear quarter panel... I'm talking the whole panel. I have bad damage over rear arch and thinking to replace the whole side panel. My car is 4 door BTW.
I heard it needs cutting out 🤔🤔
So, on Golf Mk3 I also have to remove the bumper ? Hope not, because I m screw et up.I M half way to change the wing. Thank you for the video.
Will this work on a 07 jetta wolfsburg edition?
Bumper as well?
Glad i could help, have you subscribed to the channel??
thanks man very good video
Appreciate your video. Thank you! Just curious--what year is the Jetta?
do you have a video on how to replace the window washer pipes on the front mine is leaking somewhere and can't find it thanks
of course it will
thanks alot great video :)
I know this is off subject but I watch all of yr videos and u seem like u know a lot about golfs. I have a 02 gti 1.8t and I've got evap codes anf o2 codes and maf code. I replaced all of the parts and noticed I have no power to the n80 valve or the evap leak pump next to the gas cap. All run off the blue wire with a yellow strip. I have no power at either plug with car on or running. Any idea of what this is caused by? I can't get it inspected till I get it fixed. Thanks!
Awesome.. cheers 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Still helping 8 years after posting!!
Great video
Thank you
It is really tough to diagnose a car without seeing it. However I would advise to just look and the simple possibilities, dirty connectors, split wires leaks etc and continue what you are doing.
Quick note if your're looking at changing the wing on a Lupo/Arosa: The process is essentially the same but the rear of the wings curve under the sill. There's two cross-head screws on the bottom sill edge that have been painted over and are a real pain to remove with usual hand tools.
There's also one concealed in the door jam behind the mirror.
Thanks for the video :)
Thank you for watching
Bmac...is it the same procedure for a jetta 2000?
Good vid thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I saw the length and thought this is my sort of video. Makes a change from a 20 minute american video explaining what he did that morning haha
Hey since i did this myself with no experience, this is what i learned that isnt in videos. When you remove the old wing, take off the clips and put on new one. When you put the mud guard thing back start from the back (inner) screws first. Dont need to take wheel off just turn the wheel. When you screw in the wing make a gap by the door same size as passenger door, otherwise it will crush and squeek when you open the door up. Knowing these steps id rate difficulty as easy, for non-mechanic savvy people
Hahahahaha
great thank you
is it the same way to remove a polo 2003 front wing?
good video
very helpfull, thx :-)
As I have a VW your video are top notch for when I in a "How the f@#k do I take that off. Excellent work Brother.
Is it the same process for a polo
Is the same method used for a 2010 jetta S?
im assuming this procedure is almost the exact same for a mk3 golf ?
Thanks for Vdo , so plz is it a same thing for jetta 1.9 Tdi 2007 ?
Thank u
Useful :)
Thanks :)
thanks
is it much the same process for a MK5?
nice video
Thank You
Do you know if the fenders are the same for the 1.8T and the VR6 GTIs?
Yes they are
how did you get the indicator out? im new to this and got a VW to strip and take apart any tips?
its clips and then you pull the plug from them. youll see it when you pull the front off.
Hi i was wondering can u remove the rear fender to?
The one with fuel lock on.
It is not a bolt off part
