Having done 3 fairly thorough playthroughs of the game in the last 6 months, I don't know if I agree with your assessment that there is an "illusion of choice." Story-wise I'd say you're mostly on the money with the only real choices being the romance quests and some of the Silverhand stuff plus the endings. However, where the choice really shines is in the individual gameplay moments. The Clouds mission for instance has about 5 different endings depending on how you play the mission, and then the way you played is reflected in dialogue about 5 hours later. The key word being 'played', the game will often give you a nudge in a direction or a lead via dialogue but what you do with that information is up to you and the game, for the most part does a really good job of accounting for player choice in gameplay. I'm firmly in the camp of subtle gameplay choices you don't even know you're making being accounted for rather than picking an option off a dialogue tree. I think that signposting decisions in games is a little boring and its much more fun to inadvertently make these decisions yourself. Another good example of the in-game choice is in the level design. Most gigs will have several different entry points, sometimes allowing you to by-pass entire sections if you dig around an area enough. I won't pretend like its not CDPR's fault for making everyone think that this game was an open-world GTA style sandbox where you can change the direction of the narrative in a myriad of ways, but that's the marketing department's fault. The game is clearly trying to be something more like an imsim and that is identifiable via the core gameplay design, and it should have been touted as such. I bought this game on release having been relatively oblivious to the hype, and even in the buggy unplayable mess that was the ps4 version at launch (that I got refunded) the aforementioned Clouds mission really impressed me when I loaded up a previous save to see if I could play it differently because Johnny had a go at me for killing everyone. I can absolutely see why people don't like the game, even now after 1.5, it was certainly is not what it was marketed as but it doesn't change the fact that it is probably one of the best imsims ever made.
Absolutely amazing! The amount of research, playthrough and so on is just incredible. Hands down one of my favourite youtubers. Would you ever be interested in doing elder scrolls or fallout at some point? Would serve as a great series
Probably whenever future Bethesda games come out, but I don’t really feel the need to go back and relive the ones I’ve already played through at the moment.
It’s pretty obvious to me that the game was released literally unfinished .. think about the first quest when u have to obtain the spider bot , that quest alone has multiple branching storylines that could play out depending on ur decisions.. now remember what they showed us in 2018, much of it was that specific quest, so it seems like they created all these branching stories for those first couple quests, and then just left it out of the rest of the game because they didn’t have the time to make all these diverging stories before release.. so yeah it’s really disappointing to realize what this game couldve, should’ve, been, and what we actually ended up getting .. I still like the game a lot but that doesn’t mean it isn’t also extremely disappointing at the same time
I completed the game on maximum difficulty(maximum tech for crafting etc and strength) and honestly i don't see much reasons to play on it antoher playthrough maybe the last one before max difficulty otherwise the game will be too easy because it doesn't change gameplay in any way just changes values of damage.
Of course, it just takes me a while to get to the next one since they each take 100-200 hours of work to make a video like this, on top of a full time job.
she´s called Mama Welles her sons name is Jackie Welles. you played with subtitle on, cant you read? the game doesn´t explain everything immediately after or before something happens.
I agree this game is too easy. I'm playing on very hard with mods that make netrunners and named enemies harder, and it's still easy. Not to mention my weapons continually lose dps for some reason.
Your reviews are so high quality and in depth. I’m surprised you don’t have many more subscribers
Also I wouldn't care that the game is that linear, if not for CDPR promises. They promised a completely diffrent game then the one we got.

I am once again watching another Cyberpunk 2077 critique. Looking forward to your take.

Great review, I really enjoy your style :)
Oh boy I been waiting for this one
Haven't even watched the vid yet but already deserve a like and comment if it's anything like the rest.
Great review. The buggy mess the game launched in actually SAVED a lot more hate on the game itself. Such a fall from grace .
love this game. sooo good.
They cut down stealth, You were supposed to have 2 cyber-netic augmentation for it. The invisiblity clock and the Nano-wire(Re-named to mono wire).
Invisibility wasn't working, but now it is and it's pretty awesome.
Great critique. Very balanced and objective.
Thanks. I'm definitely waiting for the price to go down before I'd buy it.
Don’t buy it at all 🤣 it’s not worth it

Yep.
Video is three years old now but man the background music stresses me out.
Very well done man !!
Are you playing on an original xbox one? It honestly looks very rough.

Do you plan on posting more?

Terrible capture frame rate
Shooting and aiming feels so off in this game I switched to melee definitely more fun to play.
You got a lot of free time dude.
