I would've definitely taken advantage of Castle doctrine. There's no way Bill and Pete leave my house in anything other than a leather bag. With the recording he had at that point, it would've been completely justified and his wife would be considered a co-conspirator, trying to off her husband.
Coming from an Army brat, I liked how they portrayed the bonds of military brotherhood. Some bonds can never be broken. Stay strong and united! Yes, I know this story is fake.

Unless you get a US Attorney with a hard-on for fraud (like Guiliani had a hard-on for organized crime, back in the day), those cases rarely turn into sentences that make sense.
